He started off as a side character and became the only damn reason so many people went to see the trilogy. It would have never been the same without him. ❤
Love this video! A bunch of excellent observations in a bite size amount of time. I’m writing a fanfic where a side character slowly grows more and more in importance until he starts having his own chapters and the things you brought up in this video are super helpful to think about. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
It’s actually the exact opposite with the death of Gandalf. Legolas has lived among his kind where death does not really exist, at least film Legolas. That’s why Orlando wanted to make his reaction more confused than anything, he wanted to play an emotionally controlled character experiencing a complete new emotion that is alien to him. Legolas is puzzled at his friend’s reaction and at his own internal reaction. He is not used to new feelings though and does not know what to do with them. He has not comprehended Death really
I feel like his inclusion in the hobbit trilogy shows how he was more prideful and arrogant in his younger years, and after fighting alongside dwarves (notably, gimlis father) he gains more understanding, which leads him to be part of the fellowship of the ring and developing a friendship with gimli. He comes off as a bit one-dimensional, with not much personality in the og movies, and im glad he got more screen time in the hobbit to show how he was flawed
The King in the Hobbit who is confirmed to be Thranduil both in LOTR and the Silmarillion is described as being golden haired. Since Legolas never gets a full physical description (other than that he’s tall and strong as a young tree lol) the Jackson films went ahead and gave him golden hair like his father. If you’re referencing the line in the silmarillion that says only those of the House of Finarfin have golden hair (Finrod and Galadriel being the most famous examples) this most likely refers to them among the Noldor elves. Legolas and his father are Sindar and rule over Silvan (Nandorin) elves.
I appreciate your opinion, I wouldn’t exactly say he’s perfect. He did develop throughout the movies and if he was perfect this would not have been possible
Gimli and Legolas bromance is so heartwarming to watch
Best friendship in the movies
@@UnderARockTV I dunno….Frodo and Sam’s is pretty good too!

No doubt about it!

Thank you kind sir
مره واحده تكلم ليجولاس معا فرودو 1انا لا اراء انهو تكلم معا ابدن
680 words is quite sad for a character like him
I guess he did get extra in the hobbit films
If I’m not mistaken, Legolas only spoke to Frodo the one time
Yes that’s exactly right, unless you count when he is announcing things to the group

A blond Legolas is just so wrong! Wood elves have dark hair. He looks perfect except for this but it sets my teeth on edge every time I see him.

You sir are wrong, I hate how OP and perfect he was made - this has lead to a general hate towards all elves
