This guy is like an extension of oneself. He does the job of researching and finding the small details that matters to us as a buyer and telling them all in a great not so short presentation. Got to love the guy. But the lane keep assist was not design to follow the lane of the car like it’s driving it for you, it is there to only help you to not get out of your lane.
I'd say Perodua and Japanese engineering has nailed the budget car segment Being a previous hybrid owner I'm pleasantly surprised by its car ride quietness as well as the fuel consumption which I'd say makes about 80% of what my hybrid produced All on a 1.5 engine, CVT and a good platform The engine is powerful enough if you understand CVT which is smooth, keep the rpm at 2.0 and it will go to the speed you want steadily, just maintain the throttle and use power mode whenever overtake as it will drive the rpm to 3.0 without you changing your right foot input Everything is smooth in this new Alza, get a test drive to understand it
cant believe i'm thinking of "downgrading" from a DMax to an Alza lol, but my perception of the MPV changed when i went to test drive the Ativa (and Alza in last minute decision) last weekend. thanks for the in-depth review, i already placed a booking for the Alza.
Thanks Hafriz for this *very* detailed review! This is exactly what I needed; lots of tiny details I never even thought to look for when I tested this model, yet would influence my purchasing decision
Yup, I'm waiting for a direct comparison on the driving dynamics between the two and decide my purchase with it. All the features is of course better on Veloz, but if the driving dynamics is too different I'll definitely pick the Alza.
ergonomics would always be the achilles heels for P2. i had a few cars (even the koreans), I would regret to say P2 would be the worst for long trips. best for short distances though - best FC and easier to park
always bouncy ride..super loud , uncomfortable, thinly padded, and flat seats....I've taken many Grab cars to suffer....not on my dead body will get a P2
Actually the old CVTs require a different driving style to fully utilize their potential. Most people drive all cars as though they're Automatic Transmissions But old school CVTs take a different approach, where we gotta rev the engine and hold it and let the CVT do its job They do accelerate a lot smoother and quicker than Automatic Transmissions Just the smoothness of it gives us the illusion that it's underpowered or slower to accelerate
IMO daylight running light is not necessary in countries like Malaysia where visibility is good most of the time. Instead cars should be fitted with position light which comes on automatically when visibility becomes poor.
49:54 minutes worth watching. This Alza outperforms the expectation that i had for a new launch Perodua product when I took it for a test drive. This sets a new benchmark for a Malaysian product. The only thing that I wish that this Alza has is the telecopic adjustable steering. Hopefully it will come in the next facelift iteration. Other than that for its price, it's 'ridiculously' excellent for it's price. you get more than what u pay.
I bet you guys kept back this review in hopes for the Veloz to launch so you could review both together. But then 2 months in and the Veloz is still nowhere to be seen 😅 P.S. now that you mention how decent the Alza handles, I’m starting to doubt the usefulness of the Veloz’s increased ride height, could make it more boaty in the highways and corners compared to this Alza. Either way, nice review
I love the detailed scrutiny but if you watch this review more than once, you might notice Hafriz instinctively place himself as someone who is above driving a perodua. Strategically using "us" when it comes to the handbrake and using "you guys" when its about driving or upgrading from other peroduas which is slightly cringy
Myvi 1.5 AV VS Alza 1.5X? Alza 1.5X all the way. 360 camera and some other accesories can add later. But some cannot be added. But all decision is based on your needs.
Excuse me. I have the X version. 46 days waiting period. Sure it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the AV but I am buying it for the chassis, engine and gearbox not to mention its the fastest one I can get. Alza X is clearly the best value for money as I do not see all the extra features is worth 13k. As for the CVT I am surprised you have not figured it out yet. Normally you get AT emulation but it can do full CVT mode as well. Anyway Alza X is more than enough for me as a daily driver, sending kids to school, doing groceries and trip to mamak. It is very fuel efficient compared to my other car but the only complain for me is the seat. They are not comfy at all or maybe its just me used to comfy leather seat. Alza X is the best value for money and maybe I put in leather seat later from the 13k saved 😁. Bro get a bigger mask or lose that thing.
If they could really make the seats more comfortable, that would make it perfect. engine, it's all good if you're driving smoothly rather then keep stepping on the pedal expecting it to fly. FC as good as my 10 years old Myvi. really nothing to complain except my android auto not working. got to send back to check.
Never understood why Hafriz has to always wear an N95 mask outdoors under the sun more or less alone and muffle up his voice when the whole point of the video to is listen to him speak.
first time my eyes look at it IRL. damn, it looks so wagon like audi, merc, volvo wagon. 😍😍😍😍 so rare in malaysia but looks premium. japanese wagon arent common campared to german and volvo

Nope. Alza wont be the best car under rm100k range. It will still be proton x70. The alza only should be your best car under rm100k if a) you really need a seven seater car b) a person who favour gadgetry more than driveability c) a perodua/toyota fanboy
If you notice this kotak design more like a funeral car. Why not they make a bit rounded at the back. I'm sure it will look bit outdated in few years. The low clearance should be avoided. It looks low. But this is the most affordable MPV around.

As usual, P2 don't give shit about interior design. Feel cheap, not ergonomic n less comfortable as PROTON can offer. Because P2 has a very good reputation, P2's buyer just accept the poor and lackness of interior design. It just look good and handsome but poorly function/design(interior). We should critic more laaa. The price is cheap because exempted from TAX bruh. Coz we proud enough with it, no improvement will be done maybe.
So far experience with p2 is that it's okay but I never really got the chance to ride the newer models like Ativa, 3rd Gen Myvi and this new Alza to really know the interior quality but I can vouch for p1 interior, the new saga and evem the 2016 persona feels better built interior. But I'm hoping that the possibly new Axia have decemt build quality because it's the car that I can afford and the 3rd gen saga is starting to show it's age.

Hands down the most superior review.
for that kinda price, no complaints… even the cheapest Proton model to have AEB was the X50 flagship that cost rm113k…
Awesome, I’ve been waiting for your review!
One thing i want to know when veloz are launch & reviewed is the different in terms of ride between a lower ride alza & higher ride veloz.
Yup, I'm waiting for a direct comparison on the driving dynamics between the two and decide my purchase with it. All the features is of course better on Veloz, but if the driving dynamics is too different I'll definitely pick the Alza.
Hafriz, i think its time for you to remove your mask when do the video review.
Agree
Yes since nobody is nearby or within proximity.
Maybe he shy

They have adaptive light

Why do you wear a mask outdoors and when the cameraman is several feet away from you?
how the handling feels like? i've rent ativa for a day the handling and the comfort could match to luxury car
skip to min 36:33.
I kinda surprised with the ride and handling
Very very good reviewer, best
Nice, the most cost effective car, in term of features, interior, exterior that can compete with those that above 100K range
I owned one....and yes mostly the wind noise came from window visor.
Very noticeable before and after installed them.

What benchmark ?
benchmark??? oh wow...
Nope, Ativa did it 1st with the new DNGA chassis. It doesn't feel like older Perodua cars
Whatever it is, the all new alza has daihatsu-toyota DNA in it!
Would love to see comparison between alza and other mini mpv like xpander or brv
Why need a demister when you have a wiper?
Just one swipe to clear everything
I really don't mind the mask as long as his voice clearly heard.heck, might be nicer if he put on zorro mask in next facelift review!

like ur review. i like this alza more higher grd clearance bcos our road alot of hump, sure scratch alot on bottom.
I'm now loving this car so much because i seen this everywhere all of them av variant
Very affordable but with less than 150 nm of torque.the 107 ps engine will be screaming for life
Ops,sory. The way u turn the steering wheel is not correct, brother.Ask around from some profesional.
Be safe.

thank you for your comment, a valuable read for anyone considering the X spec 👍🏻
Kayaknya kalo xenia dipasang bumper alza makin cakep juga
Whats the A/B segment car with the best interior noise dampening ?
This new Alza sounds ... not so great
I love this car! Looks great and very practical! Should bring it to China.
i wonder if the adaptive cruise control is still garbage
Can you show what is the brightness of head light during night time
I confirm this perodua alza av gear up.
What is the best level 2 autonomous below rm150k?

When veloz will launching at Malaysia?
Compare this with Veloz...i think Veloz is better even it is 20k more expensive.
malaysia best car reviewer!

U get what u pay. What can u expect from 1.5 liter w no turbo, effortless when climbing?
but they are very good engine so it's much better than nothing
Then go with ativa, perodua doesnt care much for your taste 😂
Hafiz, why wear mask?
i think it's a outside so wearing it
Yk what they say, if’s a personal choice
suka hati dia la aiyoma

It's open air with almost no one in sight, why the mask?
Just remove the mask hafidz so that we can hear u clearly

why still with the mask? you're at open space with 10 meters from your cameraman. your voice; even clearly pronounce; but muffled.
