Some of the first verses revealed in the Qur'an were condemnations of the love of wealth, verses which are pertinent to us today. Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad teaches us how to Own Our Wealth by reminding us that we are 'mutasaddiqin', people who give. The Arabic word comes from 'sadaqa' - directly related to sincerity, truthfulness and the nature of the Prophet ﷺ.

There are many Muslim preachers, but only few can touch my heart. One of them is this syaikh.
Ade, i agree first time i heard him and my heart just melt,so sweet and gentle nature, listening to and can,t change our ways and greed then we are made of stone, people treat the poor like trash, no kindness to animals, may Allah bless my sheikh from Guyana S/A

Even our kashmir has been called "little Iran" by Allama Iqbal:
"Today that land of Kashmir, under the heels of the enemy, has become weak, helpless and poor
Once known among the wise as Little Iran."

Dear Sheikh... May Allah preserve you.... Faraway from your place, a Mu'min is praying for you.. because you touch his soul with your sincerity, love for Allah subhanahu wata3ala and love for our beloved prophet swallallahu Alaihiva sallam...
Beautiful words.

I’m saddened I can’t contribute with a donation from the country which I’m based. But please accept a simple dua, for your message to be heard in the hearts of our ummah all across the world on this holy month.
Rihab, thank you for your du'a and for such a warm sentiment. 🤲
Would you kindly be able to send us an email info@cambridgemuslimcollege.ac.uk telling us more about the restriction? This would really help us as we try our best to ensure donations are possible from anywhere in the world.
I'm sure you've already tried to donate via our website: cambridgemuslimcollege.ac.uk/support

i love what is said here
Alhamdulilah. Wonderful to hear from Shaykh again. Always depth. Allah's continuous blessings on you, Shaykh😊
MasyaAllah, how incredibly, profoundly timely. I am experiencing all sorts of anxiety at the current economic climate (reading too much of the media does not help either). It makes me worry because all my financial plans are changing, which means all the plans I've made to accumulate my wealth are changing. My soul and I needed, quite desperately, a reminder that all my wealth and all the wealth I will have (insyaAllah) do not innately and inherently belong to me forever. They are as transient as this life, and only I can turn it into proper barakah, depending on what I do with them.
A reminder for me to properly own my wealth, and remember that even in my sincere endeavour to gain and grow in wealth, I must always, always give back, through whatever means I can. Thank you so much, Sheikh, and Cambridge Muslim Uni, for this video.
Bro am vagabond but am the richest person in the. World at corona era Alhamdulillahi
SubhanAllah Alhamdhulillah may Allah bless you Sheikh. A true eye opener and may Allah allow us to give without fear of poverty. Ameen

Great reminder from Dr Timothy Winter.
Today we have insurance policies that we can claim from if we were to fall victim to huge hospital bills. We have retirement plans. Our jobs provide meal allowances. Our salaries are more than enough to pay our bills. My bank advices me to save an estimated 6 months of expenses for rainy days and invest half of it. But what else do we do with the rest of our money?
Should we inherit so much wealth to our children? It would create another cycle leading back to poverty if our children do not learn to earn a living and spend wisely.
I believe this is where Dr Tim's advice applies. There is no point keeping so much in the bank. The best investment for the afterlife (if it really exists) is to donate to the students and teachers of Islam such as CMC. This will yield huge dividends when they go on to teach others and benefit more people.
Thank you Numan. We are grateful for all donations, which can be made here: cambridgemuslimcollege.ac.uk/support. These donations help us carry on training the next generation of Muslim thinkers.
he is such a beautiful Imam, I was in turmoil in my stomach until I hear him.
Death. It is a promise that I can see happening and I believe it. It is inevitable.
Thank you, Shaykh for this Pearl of Wisdom.

الله يبارك فيك يا الشيخ الكريم و العالم الكبير.
Human nature well defined.
A timely reminder well delivered in a very English way.
My dearest sheikh,
A man who fear Allah will not find his heart in rest until he remove the portion of his wage to the rightful and needy persons first.
A man who fear his nafs will not find his heart in rest until he allocate his wealth for his savings and personal dreams first .
With lots of wadh & rahma

Hz Usman Ghani’s example is also poignant. Immensely wealthy and be used his wealth for good.
The Prophet had two of his daughters married to him.
Indeed as everyone here has mentioned, Dr Winter is a blessing and gift for the Muslim (and everyone else) community. Whenever I listen to his speeches I feel this breath of fresh air of ideas and spirituality. May Allah give you more health and wealth to keep going on this blessed journey. Please know that we truly appreciate you.
Also regarding donation, how much is enough ? Because what I've been thinking is that to maintain a college such as this, very genereous donations in the lines of tens of thousands are needed. Also if you could create some infographics on how the money is spent, or set a clear fundraising goal maybe more people will contribute, Insha'Allah.
Jazakumullah khairan for what you are doing.

Great words of wisdom. I really want to translate it to my mother tongue (Kerala, India) if you me the permission. I assure you I'll be giving the necessary credits, Insha Allah.
I would like to know whether the college has an affiliated charity as some might want to donate a rental property in their will to the charity. There will be no inheritance tax to pay and the charity can benefit fully from the rental income.

Salam Aleikom Cheikh Murad.
Yes one of the biggest truths about Hayattuddunya in the exception of the Saleheen and truly intelligent people but for us to become enlightened we first need to turn on the light as this life’s nothing but decievement and confusion and the only light to illuminate the darkness is the Quran and therefore we need to thoroughly understand decipher and love the Quran as it’s the only thing by which we can pull ourselves into reality as the dunya did promise our prophet Mohammed SallallahuAlaihiwassallam that you escaped my trappings but your ummat will not. Allah Subhanataala has kept things of entertainment for the believer far better and beyond this empty life of this dunya. He’s cursed this whole dunya in the exception of the Masajids and where ever his gatherings for his Zikr is taking place but the Highest Zikr is the Quran. It is the miracle of miracles Alhamdulillah bestowed upon this Ummat. But with great power also comes great responsibility

I am newbie in the UK, I try to give to someone who is a sleeping rough here in the UK and soon after that a lady told me not to do that. I feel terrible after that as if I do something against the rules in the UK. could anyone here fill me in with information about the rules in the UK. Thank you
ainul mardiah you should give them its better for you! Some people who say not to give is because they believe they will use it for something bad like drugs. But in Islam all that we give is for the sake of Allah, so give and don’t hesitate to do so, your reward is with Allah

Salaam (peace) my beautiful sister,
I hope you are well and in good health In'sha'Allah...
Sister, the reward in giving to the poor and needy is priceless...
however, yes there may be a concern that when we give 'money', are we supporting a drug or drink habit?
There is an uncertain answer.
At the end of the day, it is entirely up to you. And in giving, your intention is to help them buy food etc.
You could however buy them a hot drink or a sandwich to eat....that way there is 100% guarantee that money isn't used for anything else...
At the end of the day, it is up to you, so whatever you decide to do, do not stop giving and do not be put off :)
I hope that kind of helps...
have a beautiful, peaceful, blessed, humble day my darling ...
Salaam :)

The “love of wealth” built your mosque. Built the modern world. If we lived by this doctorine we would be the same as North Africa and Somalia etc. No civilisation of any note.
I get it, good message don’t be materialistic, but don’t let a fatalistic apathy consume you. Otherwise progress of mankind stagnates.
But I understand you can hold this position being in a developed nation.
You can still be holy and work hard.
I think the idea is not to be consumed by it. Working hard is encouraged, but should be balanced. What I took from this is the battle between having excess juxtaposed to being content with what good you have. 'love of wealth'...can lead to measuring another by how much wealth they have, what car they drive, what postcode they live in so on and so forth. Ambition is good, greed isn't.
The "love of wealth" built the modern world (the west) and impoverished the global south. I wouldn't say that is something to be proud of.
You love wealth, may be you're very rich, suerly you're very poor in spirit. North Africa is more civilised than many european countries
