    WOW Great Video. I wasn't sure what pencils to invest in especially since I'm just starting out and I'm really using them to work on the adult coloring books. I have 2 granddaughters and we do arts and crafts together. My 7 year old granddaughter helps me draw. She is a great teacher. She wants to be an artist when she grows up. Her mommy can draw portraits. Just comes natural to her. I'm going to share your videos with the girls next visit. I will be following you. Thank you for sharing and teaching.

      For some tips to find prosmacolors but not sure if they are what you want
      , go with the prismascholar because they are cheaper and have a harder lead but it's still a better quality that crayola or any other brands like that

    Good job on the flower! :-) I'm not trying to be mean but I have used Prismacolor before. The lead was too crumbly. I gave up coloring my drawings for a few years because I fell into depression hard. I had just recently started coloring my drawings again about a couple months ago. If I decide to use Prismacolor again, what's the best way to sharpen them?

    • @ArtalaCarte
      @ArtalaCarte  9 років тому

      Mary Ann Miller Great question. I had the same trouble so will be making a video about it. I found using an electric pencil sharpener works the very best. I had horrid luck with hand held sharpeners.

    Thanks Rosie x

    • @ArtalaCarte
      @ArtalaCarte  8 років тому

      You do need to be gentle with them. and store them in a way so they don't bang around. I use an electric pencil sharpener and it works amazing with them. I have never tried Faber Castell pencils so I don't really have an opinion on them.

    You are very talented. I'm just starting out. Can you tell me what type of sharpener is best for the crayola. My point seems to break when I sharpen them. It's a bit frustrating.

    • @lilbit5426
      @lilbit5426 8 років тому

      I have a cheap x-acto electric sharpener from Walmart I think it was about $12 I bought it around August of last year and it sharpens very well and gives you a nice point it also changes pressure when it is a nice point so you don't break the pencil try to avoid hand sharpeners because they aren't too good hope I helped

    Beautiful drawing! Thanks so much for doing these tutorials. It helped me a lot. I'm no artist but I am getting into adult coloring and now I know I can buy the Crayolas on which to cut my teeth. I do want to get into some blending and learn highlight and shading. I loved art classes in high school and most of my senior year I took painting and drawing, pottery, photography, creative writing, etc. etc. I only had one required class. LOL The art teacher was retiring that year. Mr. Rice. He was great. I was bored in anatomical sculpting one day and decided to make a phallus. ( I know. I was sixteen for cripes sake.) But it was anatomically correct and really well done. Mr. Rice walked by and said, " There is NO WAY I'm putting that in the kiln! Retiring or not, I want my pension.". Anyway, I feel like I am somehow getting out from under the constraints adult life puts on a gal, ya know? Maybe I'd like to do something risqué in my middle age. LOL I like the creativity art will afford me although I doubt I will go back to creative writing anytime soon.

    I AGREE WITH YOU SO MUCH! I really Recommend If you are Starting out Take cheaper Ones until you are Positive, I Am Learning With the 24 Set of Staedtler Luna. and I am getting Prismacolors for my birthday now that, I've actually understood Colored Pencils and how They Work, because I think Markers and Pencils are my Mediums that I prefer

  • @midnightriot2454

    I always use either crayola/marco raffine for my preliminary drawing. I sketch out my piece, transfer it to a piece of paper and try out the colours with those first to decide if I like the colours etc. then on my final piece I use prismacolor - I don't have many of them just the main ones I typically use, I had to buy a pencil once a week or once a month where I could. To make crayola pop more try using watercolour as a base then crayola on top :) You don't have to use expensive watercolour either :D Always look on Ebay to save some money!!
