This is so powerful it makes me cry, because it reminds me of being, homeless, strung out on drugs, suicidal, sleeping in my broken down car and listening to Summerteeth and watching it snow. 12 years ago. Been clean and sober for almost ten years now and not suicidal anymore. Thank you Jeff.
Saw him perform on his birthday this year in Washington. The crowd sang him happy birthday. He said "Thank you.. This next one's about my dead dad." Thanks Jeff :p
totally... its a midweastern thing that's lost on most chicagoans, but I guess hes not totally chicago... but yeah, I love his humility as well. Dude is a fucking legend but seems like he didnt get the memo.
Totally crushing on Jeff. Love a man who can bare his feelings... and help others process theirs through his honesty and artistry. Thank you, Jeff. I know you're working really hard. You deserve all the accolades.
There's something so human about seeing AND hearing a musician preform live. I have listened to 'White wooden cross' plenty of times on my phone and in the car. It wasn't until I saw this performance that I really understood it. We all die and he's glad his love one's haven't yet. Thanks man, I feel the same.
I am currently reading his book. I am only about 60 pages in and it is one of my favorites so far! There is a real sincerity in his storytelling and honesty, which is really is heartwarming in a sense that you realize your heroes and icons of humanity aren't so far from us. He is a cool human with an inspiring journey. I don't know if his intent in life is to particularly be inspiring, I think he just does what he loves, and in return it happens to be inspiring which is a great byproduct of his goals with music.
First off, your a darling interviewer.Dear lord Mr.Jeff Tweedy is simply an ANGEL! I am from the Pa. area and am having problems finding his other music on albums. I have LOVE IS THE KING, I listen to it everyday.THANK YOU FOR SHARING!Jeff is a brilliant musician ❤
Happy Birthday, Mr. Tweedy -- thanks for all of the great music you've written and recorded for 3 decades now in all the bands and solo projects you've been in!!!
I thought the engineering/mixing on this was excellent too! Although for a second your comment made me think maybe AKG had released a 414 with a capsule meant to capture "bass" better haha
Cool guitar. Looks like a really old Martin 0-18 (too thick and small to be an 00-18) with some really dead strings! I get it. I never change my strings either. New strings sound awful. Maybe there's a happy medium though ;)
there something to be said about less big solos and more control....like Jeff is my favorite song writer and Nels became my favorite guitar player when I heard him play with wilco the first time. but as I watch Jeff play songs and control the tone and fret board of his guitar with elegance I sometimes wonder why I was obsessed with metal solos and fast punk rocks songs and just being obnoxious on my instrument for so very long as a kid, don't get me wrong I love all that Dinosaur jr stuffs but man I think I tried to hard in junior high 25 years ago to play things that were cool but not skilled, eh? I don't know I did learn Diary of a Madman when I was like 12 and man that was fun and cool and I still listen to that Ozzie song in the dark laying down and just transcending but maybe my opinions and goofiness are too much I just love Jeff's playing and lyrics and songs so much that I just wish I could play and write in some quantity an iota of his skill and talent.
First off...My carnal mind can't help but say how absolutely beautiful the host is, the neck vein is omgrrrr...sooooo attractive. What's a musician gotta do to get in with this girl?? I got songs ....I love Tweedy... authentic AF, but ....ahhh I hate that I'm bout to say this but, he's missing some things. I think you know what I'm saying....
I am guessing it might be the original vintage Martin upon which he based the Martin Jeff Tweedy signature Martin 00-DB? This is just a guess though...
S Bingham that appears to be a different body style than the OO-DB (tweedy) Rest assured; it’s old and probably worth a couple bucks- AND it’s in great hands
@@saffel Yes it is in great hands! And thanks for the info - do you think it is a Martin though? Head stock was not showing anything legible that I could see...
He writes about it in his book. For sure a Martin from the 30’s. Bought it because he wanted something that Woody Guthrie theoretically could have played. Internet says it’s a Martin 00-21NY. I’ve never heard him refer to it as such, though.
Awesome. Good for you! Thanks for sharing that story. Jeff has been there and it comes through in his music and words. It chokes me up too.
WookieLove1 thanks my friend
Same ....different stories, different country even, but Oh the similaraties. Music connects ...thanks Jeff Tweedy. x
@@djroeable11 Here's to 2020! I'm rolling with Being There this morning! Peace to All!
Make sure to read Jeff's book!

jimmyhoe so you saw him perform the same day as this performance?
Saw him in London two years ago. He told a woman in the audience to fuck off. It was great.
@@cvachon7 I'm sure she had it coming. Good for him
@@WookieLove1 Hi, Jeff :)
Thank universe we have Jeff Tweedy
Thank *all* the universes!
@@johnnydee5658 Thank Jeff Tweedy we have Camilo Zúñiga
y que lo digas!
I've been saying lately I like only .5% of the universe and that's probably true.
Love how down to earth and sincere he is in all his answers, that simplicity makes you forget how much of a legend the guy is.

Fuck man Impossible Germany does it as well

Wow thanks for the vibe... Jeff Tweedy... Made me feel so down to earth back again... memories that was missing in my mind... thanks again..
An Empty Corner is a Tweedy classic.
gold
Every time I listen to Jeff Tweedy I think of Chicago summers.
Ode to Joy is my favorite Wilco album since YHF
he sounds just great 💙
Love from egypt 🇪🇬🤗
Jeff Tweedy. The Man. The Poet. The Legend. The Voice. The Storyteller. A Man Of Many, Many, Many Legends. And More To Come, I'm Sure.
He is a beautiful human being
Simply the best....

Sorry. This was just so fantastic for me to find. Take care everyone.
Jeff tweedy just always ripping
Beautiful
gotta love how Jeff Tweedy has been gradually morphing into *Jack Black*
oh and *Impossible Germany* is @ 20:52
bless you.
Thank you for pointing that out. One of my all time favorites!
Marvelous performance by Jim Royle.
I will fight the people downvoting this.
Very disappointed in you, Heather, as an educated adult you should know better. Whipping 5 year olds is a no, no. Cheers.
thanks for this
Greatness 💯
Kexp casually dropping a bass capsule 414 I see you

Haha brass yes, engineering was excellent agreed
Jest klimat.
Pozdrawiam z Polski. 🇵🇱
Being There
Bravo
Love this guy. ..... and Wilco :-) Shorter hair & beard is a good "look" on him.
impossible Germany is the best song
Jeff est le meilleur depuis très longtemps et wilco est un groupe honteusement sous estimé.

Jesse Watson I believe it’s a 0021 like Dylan played. Not sure though.
Shepherd's Chapel Network !!!!!!! Chapter by Chapter / Verse by Verse !!!!!!!
how do you come up with other chords like those? I mean there are a lot of simple ones, but then there are some odd ones
Jpegtweedy
from the thumbnail i thought it's going to be Jack Black
You and me both haha.
VOLCANIA DREAD im not the only one who thought that then 😂
Absolutely blasphemous

What guitar strap is this? I love cantaloupe and all but I really need something to hold my guitar up.
Wait...is Land Ho! getting back together finally?
Jack black ♥️
Ok yes everyone has noticed he looks like jack black but let's also consider he and jack also both have a son named sammy????
Jerry Garcia isn't dead?
fantastic
Where my girl Cheryl?
Is that an OM size guitar?
Realist mofo in da game.
God,I wish I could sing
You can do it bro
Repetition and passion are the only things separating anyone from greatness
What kind of Microphone are they using for his acoustic?
Jake Wichert AKG 414
Tweedyman
Why does the host look SOOOO much like Brita from community ?!?
anybody know what pickup he's using here?
I think it's not a pickup, it could be to prevent feedback... I don't see cables around the guitar.
@@Rgdonaire_07 No pickup. Just an early AKG 414 EB. Recorded by Kevin Suggs for KEXP.
Frank, the Pickup mounted in the sound hole of his guitar looks like a Black Angel. Most of the sound here is the mic though.
I appreciate you being frank
Why is Jables using a pseudonym?
He's a good singer. Looks a little like jack black.
Jack Black on KEXP :O
Kinda looks like jack black!

I am guessing it might be the original vintage Martin upon which he based the Martin Jeff Tweedy signature Martin 00-DB? This is just a guess though...
With sustain like that, it is definitely a Martin an 00 something or other.

Jeff's birthday isn't August 25?
Just like the commercial that says 9 out of 10 dentists approve, there is always that one dentist with the thumbs down.(what's wrong with you man?).
Who else thought this was Jack Black??
If jack black and 2000s john Frusciante had a kid
If Tenacious D merged into one person
Está hecho pelota Jack black
That's Jack Black
I'm sure that came out wrong and I probably have portrayed myself as an arrogant idiot. But the interviewer was better than the interviewie...
hey Jack Black on KEXP no wait..
Not a huge fan of Jeff Tweedy, but I love his guitar!
ah the long lost brother of jack black
Oh damn! I thought that was Jack Black.
