Nice 140, good to see a nice restoration that’s actually being used.

I planted the garden last week with my Super A using a 180 belly planter and IH Duplex seed hopper. When I first started I had the same issue some times the sliding half of the gear would "activate" and some times it wouldn't. I removed the cotter pin holding the spring tension on the half of the gear and moved it out of the way and cleaned all of the old crud out and then greased everything up really good. It working much better now, but still have to keep and eye on it. I need to inspect it again and make sure I don't have more trash or maybe a burr under the half of the gear that pulls away when I raise the front cultivator arms.

I swapped it out today with another one I had. My Teeth on mine are wore completely out but the other 1 I have is like new. They get a lot of acres on them here with the tobacco

I'm scared to put anything in the ground before may. Might be different this year though

The 15 day forecast wasn’t showing anything below 48 so I went with it lol

Was the 140 an updated Farmall A ?

Yes sir. IH started with the farmall A in 1939 that had a manual lift until 1947 they came out with the super A that has a hydraulic lift and that ran until 1954 and the 100 came out with a bigger engine with slightly different sheet metal with a fast hitch and a nicer seat as a option and in 1956 the 130 came out with slightly different sheet metal and a hp bump and 1958 the 140 came with a hp bump and different hood. From 1958 to the last 140 in 1979 or 1980 everything stayed the same except a few small cosmetic changes. The 140 was replaced with a diesel offset that was totally different from the 140
