- The White House has accused "right-wing critics" of selectively editing videos in a "misinformation" campaign to question President Joe Biden's mental state.
In the most recent incident, Mr Biden’s opponents claimed he experienced a moment of confusion that required Barack Obama to lead him off stage at a weekend fundraiser.
The White House shared other footage that they said showed Mr Biden was just pausing to take in the applause.
The mental acuity of both Mr Biden, 81, and his 78-year-old challenger, Donald Trump, have come under scrutiny as the US election race heats up.

The main issue is not the two-party system because most successful leaders are those who are somewhere in the middle anyway thus capable of making reasonable compromises that work for both left and right, the issue is that the US is burdened by its commitments to the prosperity of the Western world in order to have allies that support the US in its position of power that keeps world reasonably good, at least for the West. If you want the US to become a democracy you would need to want the US to relinquish its dominant power to the UN and the people of the US to start giving a damn about their nation to the point of protesting against laws that are in direct contradiction with constitution like was Patriot Act but you may find that people aren't into democracy that much once they understand the cost they need to constantly pay to keep their freedoms, which is why nations turning into dictatorships so easily..

It's an interesting problem to be sure. When Trump ran against Hilary, there were pundits pointing out that no US presidential election in history had both candidates with such high disapproval ratings. This election is probably worse. I don't think it's just the USA though. This is probably a product of how we consume our news in an echo chamber. Very few people seek balanced news. They gravitate more and more to channels that cater to and reinforce their biases. The people producing the echo chambers are in a competition with each other, and the winner, unfortunately, is the one who feeds the emotions best. The result is polarization worse and worse.

No. There were other choices, but it ends up between 2. This election is not a great example though. The incumbent president will be the choice of his party for a 2nd term unless something really disastrous happens. But here, Trump has spent so much effort consolidating his base that, although he had several people run against him, they all feel by the wayside. Multiparty systems have their own drawbacks. The endless divisions lead to systems were none of the parties have a true mandate, and they have to form coalitions. Which sounds good but it often means voters win an election but find the party they voted for won't enact the policies promised because the party had to make so many compromises. The presidents, at least, can't stay. They helps.
