This is seriously the best. I love how you are not afraid to be yourself and come out and that's a strong characteristic many people wish for! you should be proud and happy of who you are and not let anybody ruin your life or mood. You are who you are. and people will love you for the true you!

I liked how you started out with "boundaries don't exist", It surprised me to hear that you- someone acts and appears so strong- have been having an inner battle with yourself since the SIXTH GRADE! The Hannah Montana reference was amazing, your smiles you get when you started talking about finally getting in a relationship made me smile along with you, that rollercoaster you had with your parents sounds truly saddening, but I'm glad you're strong enough to go through it! Never stop smiling! :)

This is one of the best coming out videos I have ever seen. You're smart, thoughtful, and eloquent and you're describing your inner thoughts so detailed and precisely. For these reasons this video is definitely going to help many young people who are in a similar situation. I watched this video several times because I like it so much ... and your personality.

Hey, I used to watch you're videos all the time, but then I disappeared from youtube for a year and now that I'm back, I started watching them again. I really enjoy you're videos and I'm happy that you are comfortable with who you are after all that struggling. Stay strong dude :)

I agree 100% with the labels stuff at the beginning. Part of my whole acceptance struggle was trying to find a label that fit what I was feeling. Turns out, the labels are for OTHER ppl to classify you. They aren't for you to classify yourself. I like guys and girls, both to different degrees, but I wouldn't call myself bisexual. Others will call me that, I'm just being me.

You should be so proud of yourself Matt. It takes a lot to come out, but in the end it's one of the best things you can do to no longer censor yourself in any way.
But I'm so glad that I can call myself your friend, and I'm so happy that I could be a part of your coming out in any way. :)

Thank you for your story. I grew up in a small town in Idaho, and by the time I realized what I was, I literally thought I was the only gay in the state. It took every ounce of mental ability I had to watch myself to make sure I didn't act or talk gay. The burden of being on constant guard against my own nature was crushing. Please make an up-date, and finally re-post that live coming out video

I think its brave of you to post such an honest video. I can relate to a lot of the stuff you spoke about through your school years. I don't know how much it means coming from a stranger on the internet, but the coming out process is by no means an easy one and you should be proud of yourself.

I'm a senior in high school, never really publicly "came out" but I've told some ppl. I've even told my parents (which I regret) but at this point I do not care who knows. I'd prefer for ppl not to know, but all the friends that I've told really didn't care which surprised me. If anything, they didn't want me to be flamboyant, which was fine since I am "straight-acting" anyways.

I feel that you have gone through so much turmoil learning to cope with your sexuality that it cost you a precious part of your youth. But on the other hand that struggle build something strong inside you. Far too many gentle souls did not survive the struggle. I hope you have a wonderful life filled with love and happiness. You have earned it.

Thank for sharing your story. i Agree that need to attach a label to everything( more so someones sexual orientation, race, etc) is stupid and not needed. I am in a very identical place of not accepting it in my head first, so i can start the whole "coming out" process and letting others know or being more okay if someone know even if i dont really care about the LABEL .... if you have any advice on becoming more okay with it in my head or more so the label , to move forward in my life journey i would really appretiate it.

When you first posted this video, I never would have dreamed that I would have a coming out story...but now here I am...I just started the process 2 days ago. I've told 4 friends so far...my parents? I'll figure that one out later...it's been tough. This is, by far, the hardest experience of my life. I'm emotionally wrecked to the point where I'm not eating and losing sleep...I just want it to be over.

I found your video very moving and your experience of coming out to yourself very much resonated with my own many years ago - in particular the discovery of just how many layers of selves there are to come out to. Those layers are designed I think to be protective but, like a kind of emotional scar tissue, can prevent us from being fully sensitive to the truth of what we feel. You have bravely begun to dare to feel.

It seems like this go's full circle. I admire you for the same things you admire other gays for and suddenly find myself feeling better about myself being gay because I see how inspiring different gays can be. It's like a brotherhood that supports each other and we all understand the pain and trials we all go through, and that makes us stronger, prouder and happier. Your so lucky to have Grant, he has the most gentle spirit and open heart of anyone I've me here on youtube. He is special!

And make sure to find some REAL friends that will love and accept you for who you are. they will stick with you through the tough times. I'm always here if you want to send me a message. Just stay positive and keep breathing

Hi Matt, I’m 64 years old. I have degrees from 3 different university’s and at this point I was surprised about how little I learned about life. If you feel you need to label yourself, then use the term Pansexual . When you love someone, you love their soul. When you love their bodies, that’s just lust. Education will never replace life experience. Love who you love. That’s the only thing that’s important. I myself fell in love with a so called straight man and we stayed together for 26 years until he passed away. It’s time parents start raising their kids right.

you are so strong and intelligent and super great person. You're parents are so concerned about what others think instead of their son's feelings. Hopefully they've come around. If not, they need time to accept it for themselves but it's not their place to put their thoughts on you. They're values aren't any better than yours. You're a fantastic human being.

Thank you for your comment. It's not something I worry about TBH (my parents). Being gay wasn't my choice but I am blessed in a way as it lets you see the world from all points of view. We know what it's like being the underdog and I kinda always feel for the underdog in any situation in life and I can look at something from all sides. It's one of the few plus's on being gay. Given the choice at birth I would have picked straight but I just get on with it in my own quiet way.
