Only in Paris could you find a coffee shop like that! You should have shown some of the inside of the opera house. It was one of the most beautiful insides of a building I have ever seen. I was blown away by the grandeur. I bought the book about it and guest a my house were amazed at the inside so definitely take a tour of it when you visit of Paris.
Hi. I’m a recent subscriber to your channel. So grateful to you for these videos. Paris has come alive through my little device. One question: I really love and appreciate your historical anecdotes. Could you suggest a book or an Internet source for Paris history? Thanks.
Hi there! Thanks for following along. One of my favorite books about history is by Graham Robb, called “Parisians: An Adventure History of Paris”. Each chapter covers a different factual event that took place in the city (sometimes delightfully obscure) and his writing style makes you feel like you’re reading a good novel. I highly recommend!
Napoleon III could not see the opera Garnier from his apartment at the louvre, since the opera house was finished only in 1874, a year after his death, and 3 years after his exile (first as a POW, then an exile in England)
wow! Fabulous. Mind boggling....
Glad you enjoyed this!
I had a golden entry into Paris with the buss from CDG airport. Best start to vacation ever:))
