I have an emergency question, I'm going to purchase a 1991 mercedes 300e 108k miles from a guy who bought it a month ago from someone who took care of it check engine light is on and oil pressure stays around 1 and when you press the gas oil pressure gauge goes up to around 3 but when you let go it goes down again?
Yes, these were great cars when new. At 115K miles (plus) and more than 30 years old it's not new. Hence the dodgy clear coat, cracked dash and fading black bits etc. Quite original, but not an exceptional example as suggested by the video. These W124s are certainly better to drive than later models. They were superb cars when new. Colour may be rare in US, but not in places like Australia. There are a lot of these gold ones here for some reason. Usually with the light coloured interior, which may be to do with the climate. Things like the cracked plastic lenses and glass headlamp cover are quite expensive to replace. Ask me how I know. Given the age remarkably rust free, but mileage questionable. Perhaps increasing in value now, but still quite hard to sell for a fair price.
1986 was the first year for the W124, and the only models were the 300 E and 300 D. I think most of the 300 E's came fully loaded the first year. Also, that color is a little painful... armor-all will fix those mirror covers for the most part.
No. Production Mercedes Benz W124 - spring 1985. W124 petrol engines 1985 : 200, 230E, 260E, 300E. W124 diesel engines 1985 : 200D, 250D, 300D. In spring 1986 - production W124 4-MATIC sedan. 1986 - production of W124 estate.
I just never liked the black bumpers on them it's like you have a nice benz then benz cheaps out and doesn't paint the bumpers to match the rest of the car and it throws the whole look of the car off.
Cereal Marshmallows my friend had an 1988 white 124w like this and the white and black bumpers screamed rental car. lol he paint the bumpers but kept the thick black strip and it looked way better.
Cereal Marshmallows oh yeah are you talking about the dark green in one of your videos? yeah that's what his looks like too. if I bought that model in this video that's the first thing I would do is color match the side molding and the bumpers like the 190E limited. it's amazing how something like a simple mod like that would make a car like this look much better. it wouldn't be bad if it was a dark color but considering its a light color the black bumpers like I said just throw the whole look off.
Cereal Marshmallows the black bumpers just remind me of a fleet car or a mid 80's Honda or Toyota camry. yeah it does like I said it's amazing how one little mod can make a car look totally diff.
Man, seeing this car brings back memories! My dad bought a 1990 W124 and let me drive it in high school (2000-2003). Thanks for the upload!
