That kind of is Vader's "going easy". Need I remind you he doesn't have arms or legs, so there's also a possibility he's somewhat disconnected from the idea of limbs being irreplaceable these days.
@CanisMythson well yes if you are a fan that looks into the EU content then Vader is going easy on Luke but to your average person who only watches the movies then it wouldn't be seen as going easy.
No one notices that in the beginning of the fight, Darth Vader hides in wait to sneak attack Luke by holding his breath so he wouldn't hear his ventilator
I wonder how many people thought Luke was Vader’s clone while watching the cave scene because they had specifically discussed the clone wars and then Luke sees his face in the mask. I wonder if Luke was originally going to be a clone of Vader instead of a straight up child. Kind of cool that Rey was the child of a clone which kind of reverts back to this orginal idea that was hinted at.
Everyone Mark Hamill aka Luke, James Earl Jones, and David Prowse (voice & body of Darth) have to sign NDAs (Non-Disclosure Agreement) prior to filmed this scene. Lucas and others at LucasFilm making sure this famous "secret twist" kept under wraps until Empire Strikes Back released in 1980. Other cast members were caught off guard when this scene shown on screen. Harrison Ford aka Han Solo asked Mark, "Hey Kid!" "Why didn't you tell me?" But Mark cannot leak the info without being fired and then sued by LucasFilm.
Er.. nope. Only Lucas, Hamill, Kershner and the producer knew prior to this scene. Even James Earl Jones didn't know until he went in to record his lines. David Prowse just followed the "original" script. You can find info on this scene in the video "Empire of Dreams : The Story of the Star Wars Trilogy". It's still on UA-cam. Time stamped at 1:51:10 for your convenience. But you'll have to search for the video yourselves.
@@paullow3377correct... Mark Hamill has talked about this numerous times in interviews... James Earl Jones said when he recorded the lines he still didn't believe it. 😊
I like that even though most of them knew Vader was his father, all of them were shocked when Luke lost that hand. That one guy is right, Vader was taking it easy on him. Then Luke caught him with that shoulder shot and Vader said 'enough'.
@SuperiorlySubversive Black father's are the most involved in their children's lives than any other male group according to the CDC. So Black male involvement in the matters of children is not that big of a deal that the rest of ya'll make it out to be
This line was not only shocking to moviegoers, but to Mark Hamill’s co-stars as well. The line in their scripts was “Ben (Kenobi) killed your father.” This would have meant that everything Ben told him about the power dynamic in the war against the Empire was a lie, that everything he told him about the Force was suspect. Worse, it would mean that Luke’s greatest enemy had been grooming him, not for sex but as a weapon to prosecute his own agenda, propagandizing him into a fanatic to destroy his own enemies, including presumably some of his father’s own friends and allies. Ben Kenobi would have been cucking Anakin Skywalker after killing him, completely repurposing his bloodline and utterly destroying any remaining trace of Anakin’s original identity. Next to this, the reveal that Darth Vader was Anakin unslain seems pretty tame.
@@SuperiorlySubversive Just asking, (and not defending Ash here) but have you ever tried to fake a laugh? It wouldn't be convincing at all, to anyone with half a brain cell. Faking a laugh is not as easy as you think. The timing between what's happening on screen and their reaction could just be an artefact from the editing process, and YT's weird conversions it does when one uploads a video. Things aren't always as they seem.
I like some reaction channels, especially when it's genuine. I have a hard time believing anyone didn't already know this twist, even if they've never watched the movie. It's like not knowing Peter Parker is Spiderman or Bruce Wayne is Batman.
I kind of get what your saying, but you're forgetting a key point. Not everyone in the world is steeped in so called "popular culture". They don't watch TV, or movies, read magazines, or in the current world, don't do social media in any form. They just don't engage with any of it. They might see some images when they are out and about, but without context they'd be meaningless and forgettable. Perhaps it is us that live in a bubble, not them. Think about it. It's not impossible for someone to not know any of the examples you've given. I'm sort of envious of them in some ways, imagine being able to experience these movies for the first time, with no idea what's coming.
I've finally gone old man. Another checklist next reaction for the channel by some millennials that went out of their way to see the prequels first and spoil the reveal for themselves just to be different. Alright! 👍 !!
i am surprised at how many people never heard of this moment before. i'm glad that some of these were actually surprised by it. great collection
Probably just the times changing, and there are more and more crazy twist in so many movies since then, it gets lost in the pile
Some intentionally knew beforehand. Millennial, man. Anything to be different. Even spoiling stories for themselves.
"I do think Darth Vader's going easy on him, though."
Wait for it....
Still going easy on him!

lol At Alex Hefner. Joining Vader to learn how they train is like taking Heroin to learn if drugs are bad.

Missed opportunity to be Game of Thrones thirty years early
It would mean that Obi-wan, not Darth Vader had and was still executing Order 66
Imagine having to wait 3 years before we know what happens and there was no internet to spoil everything. Kids today would not understand

I'm actually not surprised by that.
Everybody knew
At least it wasn't his right hand...
If this was made in modern day Luke would be a woman and beat the crap out of Darth Vader with little training and no suspense created for a sequel.
if DV can hold down whole starships, why can't he stop Luke from falling?
Because the force
He spent all his force points on keeping his ventilator silent so he could sneak attack Luke lol
