Benedetti Michelangeli suonò eccezionalmente questo bis come omaggio a Celibidache, che compiva gli anni proprio in quel periodo. Il concerto eseguito quella sera fu quello di Ravel, con i Munchner Philarmoniker (1992).

My gosh, the maestro, only a shadow of his former self physically, when i look at his face. but the range of musical expression has grown undoubtedly. therefore the tempo has been reduced and Sergiu Celibidache is listening to him with rapt attention,to the soloist which he admired so deeply. I am quite sure that he learned from Michelangeli quite a lot!

Conoscendo la sua passione per il Maestro ,sono a chiederle se è a conoscenza che vi sia una registrazione, anche non video, de " Claire de Lune" ( suite bergamasque) suonata da Benedetti Michelangeli. Ho cercato tanto ma non ho trovato nulla. Credo che se vi fosse dovrebbe essere, inevitabilmente, un capolavoro. Grazie per la risposta.
@MrRanapo Preferable to take pianopera's remark in the humorous spirit, and not as criticism. Celi was certainly famous for sometimes measured,(ponderous...?)tempi, with remarkable results. If ABM was,(unconciously?),paying a "hommage" to Celi...why not? It could be taken as a compliment! No need for insults.

Purtroppo ne ha impedito la pubblicazione per "imperfezione". Data l'impeccabilità dell'esecuzione si sospetta che la colpa sia stata della "scorretta" illuminazione del pianoforte.

If this is the average level of Celi's former "disciples" I'm quite disappointed... but then, just like in Liszt's case, there might have many students that just flocked around him, not hindered by any talent, just to take advantage of the man...
