    Another great video with so much action. Darren is right to caution about fishing on rocks. Only in calm seas for me nowadays.
    In the boom days of Stillwater trout fishing there was an addiction by many anglers to cast to the horizon using fast action rods and an aggressive double hauling technique. Whereas in reality the fish were often in the margins where there were more fry and aquatic insects. In rock structures many bait fish seek shelter close to the rocks, and no doubt the l predatory fish know this. But with modern tackle superb spinning rods and reels loaded with fine braid I find myself often striving for distance in the rivers when game fishing or when spinning in the sea. Like Darren have to remind myself to vary the casting depths and distances. Sage advice indeed.
    What a back drop fishing next to Dunstanburgh Castle. As a former History teacher I was always fascinated by the history of the Northumberland Castles. Now living in the North West the sea around Beaumaris Castle in Anglesey offers me some good bass fishing from boats. But it is shore fishing that I must now try having been inspired by videos like this.
    The sheer variation in the types of fishing locations is another big pull for this site. Thanks so much for that.
    Mick

      Thank you, Mick. Yes , every day is a day of learning while fishing. I guess my game fishing side makes me think more about how my lure is fishing rather than a "chuck and chance" approach.
      Northumberland is stunning, though, isn't it ?. We are blessed. 🙂

    A very quiet year for mackeral, with sheilds pier closed (unless ya hop the wall) and roker pier. Seaham pier is doing ok at dusk but still a strange year. All the best marra

    Another nice video. At a mark near me, if the Mackerel 'disappear' it's often because the seal is between you and the shoal. The shoal moves out of range. It really mucks up the fishing.

    • @northeastangling
      @northeastangling  3 місяці тому

      Hi Phil, Thank you. I find at dustanbrugh the shoals are intermittent. Sammy didn't seem to bother the shoal. He just waited for an easy meal off my lure!! 🤣🤣 intelligent creatures, and I did not begrudge him one fish 😀. It was still a great day . Thank you for watching once again, my friend .

    Good session there featuring ''Sammy'' Maybe could sync in some those metal chugging chord progressions as Sammy closes in for a Mac Attack 😈Coalies brings back memories of real clunkers drifting over WWII wrecks in the English Channel.They are in another league when it comes to pulling over the once ubiquitous pollack and cod...before the wreck netters perfected their art.🤬

    Hi Darren first time watcher good video im a course angler that fancies a bit of mackerel spinning that looks a hell of a hike are there any deep water rock marks i could fish without the long hike as im not too mobile thank you

    • @northeastangling
      @northeastangling  3 місяці тому

      Hi William, welcome to the channel. Thank you for watching. Unfortunately, in the North East we are not blessed with many deep water marks that are not off the beaten path. However, you can spin for Mackerel in the mouth of the Tyne and River Blyth and park very close to your car. It's just a case of them actually turning up in numbers .

I caught quite a few but put a lot back kept a dozen for the pan thanks for the advice and keep posting those videos they are very enjoyable 😊

    No good putting Mackerel back after you have handled them. The loss of scales is actually fatal, in a short time they succomb to all sorts of ills caused by the loss of scales.

    • @northeastangling
      @northeastangling  3 місяці тому

      It's a Myth Graham, Experiments by marine fisheries scientists have involved handling mackerel to tag them and these fish have been successfully recaptured many miles from where they were originally caught, proving that mackerel which have been handled can continue to live and hunt.
      This being said, it is still good practice to try and shake them off, if the mark allows. Thank you for watching, much appreciated 👏

    Do you park in Craster or is there a better way to get there? How much is it to park in Craster these days?

    • @northeastangling
      @northeastangling  3 місяці тому +1

      Hi Robert. I park at The steads near the golf club. It's free. It's debatable if the walk is tougher than coming from Craster as you have to climb the steep side. I have never parked at Craster, but I do believe there are only a couple of free spaces if you're early enough. All the best, my chum.

    • @robertpetch5182

      @@northeastangling thank you, I'm sure it was over £5 to park in Craster last time I visited and no spaces anyway!
