i am hearing it is a good idea to use a external hard drive as your main storage boot up as the internal is only 256 GB have you heard this and what is your opinion great tutorial by the way
Personally, I’d keep the OS and apps on the internal SSD, and move my home directory and data to an external SSD. That way, if something goes wrong with the external drive, there's less risk of messing up the system. Even though macOS does support booting from an external drive, Apple really only meant it for emergencies (like data recovery), not for regular use. Also some things to consider, USB enclosures are more likely to fail than the internal storage, whether it’s the cable, the controller, or the NVMe drive itself. The internal NVMe drive in your Mac is way faster and stays cooler. External drives in enclosures can get pretty hot, which can slow things down and might cause them to fail sooner. If you accidentally unplug the external drive while your Mac is running from it, you could end up with file corruption, which could make your Mac unbootable.
If you're using two monitors like that, can you move the dock to the lower one? Great video, btw. Straightforward and well presented. I brought a Mac Mini home today and an LG32GS95UV monitor to pair with it. (Hopefully, I'll enjoy this monitor even thought it's probably primarily used by gamers.) Anyway - great video! Just in time for me!
Thanks Gary, Yeh you can select which monitor you want as the “main display” and that one will have the dock, then select the other monitor as “extended display”. That’s a really nice monitor you got 👌🏼
@@MrHtech Wow! Such a fast response! Thanks! I'll know tomorrow whether I have "too much" monitor or not as I've been looking at reviews of various options tonight on UA-cam and many apparently very good monitors are a lot less money. I paid about $1k for the one I have to unbox tomorrow. Thanks again!
@ you caught me while sipping my 2nd morning coffee :p Yeh it looks to be quite the monitor and now with all the sales is the perfect time to buy a monitor at a great price.

Hi bro! I really like your keyboard. Could you tell me the brand name or where I can buy it?
I think the main ways will be either connecting them with Aux to the front port, or by Bluetooth. Will need to double check the usb connection method also 👌🏼
Hey , Nice one 👌🏼 I connected them each to a thunderbolt port on the back of the Mac Mini, in the settings in displays I pressed arrange and put them in the same stacked orientation they are in and then I clicked on the top monitor and made that one be an “extended display” and the bottom one be the “main display” Hope that answered your question :)
This helped a lot. I’m getting the m4 Mac mini in a few months and I’ve never owned any Mac system. I do own mobile Apple devices though. Figured id complete the ecosystem… lol😂😂

I did link it in the video description, it’s the Satechi SM1👌🏼
@@MrHtech thank you so much!
Be sure you have a monitor which will work with Apple, as the text rendering is totally different than Windows.
Just the video i needed :D
Looking forward to information on connecting speakers to the new Mini, using USB and the analog mic connector

You have the same monitor setup that I do. Can you tell us how to get them to function as separate displays? Thanks.

I’m glad it helped, your gonna love the Mac system 👌🏼
is the LG 24MK600M monitor supported with this mac mini 4 ?
I’m not sure why it wouldn’t be as people have used that monitor with other Mac setups from what I’ve seen 👌🏼
Can I just use my smart tv as a monitor?
Yeh it should be fine
