2 opium museums ,1 cultural museam, chedi luang , a walled city that if you wander about you discover centries old monuments amoung suburbia, watch the river traffic, watch the port activity, an authentic morning market 3 country trade, the temple where the skywalk is quite special, night market on the river bank in the evening. Has big boat races on the river. Chiang Saen is a fascinating town.
It is one of those places you go to say and show you have actually been there. Interesting that you can venture into Laos across the river and buy a 50 baht ticket without producing a passport. It looks beautiful that small area you walked around and, yes, interesting the Chinese interests not just there, also as you covered admirably in your Cambodian videos. You are loving these skywalks champ, getting plenty of practice with them the last few months. I struggle with it :) Excellent work guys 🤩🍻
Haha yes indeed ✅ done :p it was a special journey especially because of that boat journey. Unfortunately the investors seem to rule this place too 😅 Haha yes mate, we’ve done few skywalks now 😝 thanks champ 🏆 have a good one 🙏
I’ve been to the golden triangle before. Gone across the river and it was so surreal, being Hmong and know that family have swam and probably died in the river was so surreal. Just being able to go across the same river
Hey chai I’m really grateful for your contents you literally helped me and inspired me to discover Southeast Asia, I’m going to chiang rai to visit the golden triangle (because of you 🤣) and I’m wondering if crossing the Mekong river to the Laos market does it require clear Thai immigration? or just from Laos side like in the video? thanks again
Thanks mate! That’s so nice of you to say and it feels nice for me to be able to inspire :) it’s not a border where you need a passport, it’s Laos but really it’s a no one land. You don’t need a passport when make this cross over. You basically can not enter Laos this way. Either do a visa run. I hope it helps
@@Chai_TravelThanks buddy really helped! I literally wish you all the best and good luck and I really hope from the bottom of my heart that you’re channel keeps growing ❤️
Thanks! Boat ride took about 2X 30 minutes and we stayed only an hour on the other side. You’re able to request any adjustments when you’re booking your trip through:)
Was there in 1981, now it's just a tourist getto. The area was the area where most of the worlds heroin was produced. It was produced to support the Karen freedom fighters in Burma so they could have their own state in Burma. The war is still going on. Now they mostly produce meth up there. Very little opium and heroin is produced up there now. There were news stories everyday in the BKK POST newspaper about the fighting going on up there.
I'm sorry. I don’t have any updated information about this 🙏 I'd recommend going on an expat FB page and ask if someone has updated info. Sorry once more. I hope you'll find an answer soon
During one of my earliest visits to Thailand in 1994, I remember the Burmese civil conflict going on at that time. Aung San Suu Kyi, the Burmese politician and Nobel Peace Prize laureate is still under house arrest. More than 960,000 Rohingya refugees from Burma are living in Bangladesh, and over 80,000 thousand Karen and other hilltribe groups are forced to live in camps in Thailand. There seems to be no end to it, at least not anytime soon.
Nice spot, i am one of those who thinks that exploring is as important as going to the turistics\crowed spots, looking forward to visiting.... just wondering if its possible to drop off in Myanmar too?... kudos 🎉
Cheers mate. I get that 😃 nah unfortunately due the circumstances it’s not possible to go and visit Myanmar from here right now. You use to be able to. Hopefully in the near future again :) thanks for watching
nice video great images even if i dont play or like casinos and i'm sad for the country of my mom that Lao authorise gambling which is prohibited in buddhism
I make the same trip a few years ago. I agree with Elona, for me also not so interesting to do this trip. There are more nicer and more Beautiful parts in Chiang Rai to do. 🙏

It's always good to say what month day and year you are, where you are in your video.
Thanks:)
Very touristy place.
Interesting info about the boat ride to Laos for a quick visit. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it :) no visa runs from here though so you know 🏆
Great video! How long was the boat ride to Laos? And how much time do they give you to explore before heading back?
Thanks! Boat ride took about 2X 30 minutes and we stayed only an hour on the other side. You’re able to request any adjustments when you’re booking your trip through:)

Cheers!
Thanks mate :) yes! Hopefully they will be able to settle things soon as there are many people suffering from the war ❤️ thanks for your support 🙂
@@Chai_Travel Yes I know, diserves more international attention.
Very sad.

I was there some times, there is nothing dangerous there as long as you dont consume that shit and get cought. Clickbait at its finest.
I make the same trip a few years ago. I agree with Elona, for me also not so interesting to do this trip. There are more nicer and more Beautiful parts in Chiang Rai to do. 🙏
That’s it mate :) but, it’s nice enough when you’ve enough time. It’s more like we wouldn’t recommend it on your fist trip to Thailand. Cheers Gert
I’m actually heading here in a week to do some filming? Any evidence of money laundering or trafficking?
I wouldn’t get into it 🙏 good luck to you
Not dangerous at all. Yes, she loves your money! Now that is really dangerous Thai spider woman!😂
Drop in the sea😂you saw nothing 😂I explored GT for a year in 2016-2017 and that was epic.
Good on you :)
Laos 🇱🇦 khop jai...khop jai Lai Lai 😃 😊 China taking over everything. They want to be the world leader
There's nothing dangerous ...
