I still like Minos the most. He's humble, kind and selfless. He's one of the only major bosses that doesn't get enraged at all, showing his elegance, and actually tries his hardest to beat you rather than trying to save face like Gabriel's first fight.
On that 3rd artwork, its interesting that Gabe’s wings are a mix of blue and yellow. He’s only been shown to have pure blue wings regularly and pure yellow wings when enraged. Saying this because it will probably be his final design in his last fight.
nah its because of the art style of the game. the art style of the cutscenes are much more high poly and drawn by hand in a 2d environment and according to the game the polygonal art style is cannon because V1 renders at low quality for fast processing but because the endings are not from V1's perspective they have more colors and are more high quality in general

I wouldn’t say V1 is a villain, V1 is merely what’d be considered Neutral in D&D. The difference between Neutral and Evil is that Neutral merely focuses on maintaining one’s self, regardless of good or evil, whereas Evil actively harms others, regardless of whether it maintains the self. V1’s a war machine fueled by blood, and is merely attempting to sustain itself, and if it means slaughtering all of Hell, then so be it.

Yknow, my first introduction to this was during Giannis roleplay stream where he was Gabriel playing act two (for those unaware, Gianni Matragrano is Gabriel's VA and a supreme memelord, he's very present on UA-cam) and he voiced the entire cutscenes, in character, and on the spot. But here, it's implied the opposite. Gabriel believes killing the council will allow the remainder of Heaven a new chance. A chance to move on, by their own rules, on their own terms. Like how Minos revolutionized the Lust layer out of the goodness of his heart. As for Sisyphus? Gabriel knows he's already good as dead. God is dead. Everything the council does is pointless. Everything he does for his own good is pointless. Killing the council only seals his fate, but he doesn't care. We're definitely gonna have to fight him one last time, for whatever reason. He might not even have a reason, but he doesn't need one. Just like how Sisyphus knew his rebellion against Heaven was doomed to fail, but he did so anyway, because he lived for the fight. Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but intentional or not, it's interesting to think about.
In the end of the second encounter with gabe he says "we will meet again" but then the ending says he'll die in just hours. is this inconsistency or foreshadowing?
Talked about this in a call with others, we came to the conclusion V1's canonical pacing of hell is about as long as it takes for the S time rank in levels, with a small break in between accounting for either minos prime or gabriel's lecture in act I
ok ill try to explain how it went down though im not sure if this is completely accurate scenario 1 im assuming after gabe was given a deadline chances are that V1 already cleared greed layer and after gabe does coup (im unsure) v1 has already reached layer 8 or scenario 2 it took V1 around 11-12 hours to complete 3 layers (act parts)

Gabriel's silhouette now towers over the councilor, his shadow cast upon a soon lifeless corpse.
He raises his sword for the final cut as the crying mess on the floor stammers out its final feeble argument.
"B-b-but the Father's light! Without me you cannot hope to reconnect with it! I-i-if you kill me, you'll be dead in a matter of hours!"

"I know."
A clean, silent cut glides through the councilor's neck, severing his spine with elegance and ease. His head falls onto the marble floor, the rest of his body following soon after.
Bereft of status but brimming with purpose, Gabriel gave a final message to the angels amassed at the gates of the auditorium before leaving Heaven for the very last time.
His arm outstretched, without a word, the people saw. In the silence the message rang out to the far ends of the cosmos.
Gabriel killed a god? No No No... I can't believe it. NO angel can kill god. Only another god can kill a god
but he didn't kill a god. He killed the government, which is a far more civil service.
God is good and alive!
