      @@Strategy_Analysis I've got one I heard from someone doing a different kind of analysis. It would be important to sort out the degree to which this is true... Iirc it posits that US Corporations have a much more complex relationship with China than is commonly understood, with much IP theft actually being various high level persons in US corporations or even government trying to pull technologies and designs that legally are rendered inaccessible from having been developed by DOD or other government R&D, and making them available for that corporation's US.

    Great video, but I wouldn't be surprised if another round of dumplings hit the water in the next 3-4 years. New GTs & diesels should be the enabler. Retiring the last 10 old frigates, the remainder of the 035 subs, as well as having the mass of the new toys around for a few years should also enable promotions and training of more officers for the newer ships. The economic cost of growing and maintaining a navy overmatching the US navy along with Korea, Japan and Taiwan, not just in theatre will be enormous, but cheap compared to actually having to fight a war.

    There is a mising component to this and that is the role of the Strategic Missile Force and how it combines with the PLAN in any conflict to China. " How well the PLAN performs in any high end conflict remanins to be seen" that maybe true but is also true is how well the US Navy performs against the combined firepower coming at them from both the PLAN and the SMF not to mention the PLAAF. There are also no mention of the various USV capabilities of the PLAN or the role that AI will play nor their cyber capabilities. Software capability is playing an important role in all types of hardware including military. The Chinese tech sector will be crucial to the development and deployment of weapons systems particuarly by 2028. This point cannot be overstated that's exactly why the US is sanctioning the semi conductor industry in China because the Chinese develop their own high end chips for these systems that remaining bid informational advantage of the US military will disappear. There is also the aerospace sensory capabilities to take into account as moden weapon systems are basically computing devices of a dispersed network of remote nodes esp UAV and USV. Ther various underwater survelliance networks and airborne survelliance networks etc It's not just a matter of hardware platforms in the 21st century but intergrated functionality across the board.

      The US hasn't fought against a peer adversary since WW2, much less a larger country with dramatically greater industrial manufacturing capacity. For China, it's enough to fight a war of attrition, trading 1 for 1, knowing that they can replace manpower, ammunition, and platform at least 10x faster than the USA. That is, China could, at a most basic level, do to the US, what the US did to Germans and Japanese in WW2. If China's tech is any sort of relative force multiplier, then the balance tips even further in their favor.

    China will need a few more aircraft carriers so that they can rotate between maintenance, training, and operations, but that really shouldn't be the focus, because aircraft carriers have become largely obsolete like the dreadnought battleships before them. China should be focused on novel asymmetrical naval warfare via stealth submarines, semi-submersibles, arsenal ships, drone carriers, smart mines, homing torpedoes, and intelligent drones.

      Don't disagree. Mentioned for reference.

    • @j_k_rz
      @j_k_rz 6 місяців тому +3

      Yes (in certain cases) and no (mostly), larger tonnage can mean more powerful propulsion, powerplant, radar, better modularity with weapons, etc. Of course larger tonnage in and of itself doesn't mean much - same as heavier weight doesn't mean a man is stronger.
      But if the heavier weight is muscle mass, the man is stronger.
      Lighter weight warships which outperform ARE the exception like the Sa'ar 5 corvette. If larger displacement isn't an advantage, give some thought about why the more capable Sa'ar 6 is bigger than the Sa'ar 5

    • @TheTraveler2222
      @TheTraveler2222 6 місяців тому +3

      @@j_k_rz Wrong,. In most cases a higher tonnage is a huge disadvantage. A higher tonnage is a drag and does not imply any of those things you aforementioned ie a more powerful propulsion, powerplant etc, as those are independent systems on its own and is separate to the ships design and weight. They contribute to the ships higher "displacement" but isn't actual "tonnage" just as in a cargo ships cargo does not contribute to the ships tonnage but rather overall displacement. The primary reason why US ships have a higher tonnage quite frankly is because they are older and were designed to have more external steel armor on the hull and upper decks, it relies on active defenses to survive a blast and enemy missiles. However the Chinese PLA warships which are much newer are designed to be lighter so that it could travel further whilst reducing fuel consumption allowing it to carry a more active payload. It also reduces the stress on its supply ships allowing it to supply to more ships since they require less fuel. Unlike older US warships, the PLAN relies on breakthroughs in stealth technology to avoid detection ie not getting hit to begin with so there is no need for a heavier armour on the hull for protection.
