'Secret My Lips' and by extension, 'Secret Maiko Lips', starts with vocal distortion which is removed as the verse progresses, which lifts that natural compression and gives the vocal track a nice bloom to it.
As an old rocker from England I can feel your joy at this, these girls are so good, I even have them at the top of my playlist, second only to Deep Purple when driving, oh and then LOVEBITES after BAND-MAID
As an old Aussie Rocker I heartily agree, except my daughter won't let me play BM anymore when I'm driving because I racked up two speeding tickets in quick succession playing So What 😂 cheers 👍🍻
@@clivematthews5296 Yep I know and listen to them as well, also Aldious, hadn't heard of Show Ya until I stated listen to Band Maid, that's when I realised what I had missed out on
Another great reaction. The killer Maids are at it again. Look, I really love everything they have ever done. But this is how I like my Maids. They can literally kick the walls down when they go heavy. More please.
An absolute banger. I love how Kanami is attempting to do something different with her solos. She is constantly stretching her boundaries and not just doing fast rehashed cookie cutter metal solos. She is an innovator. Misa's Bass growls as usual and oh my goodness Akane on drums steals the show. She is a force of nature. This is one of their best songs 🤘
I was there for the "premier" yesterday, and right before it started I told everyone in chat "Everyone shut up! Kanami is about to speak!" And for all of 5 seconds...NO ONE said anything in chat. lol
Yes, Shambles is the Akane show with special guest stars Kanami, MISA, Saiki and Miku. But wait! Was it really the Kanami show, because she wrote the song and played it with such forcefulness and exquisite abandon. Or was it the MISA show because without MISA, the rapturous drive of the song would be a ride on four flat tires. Or was it the Saiki show because she focused the sonic chaos into a song with melodies that could express Miku's lyrics like no other singer could. Without Saiki, Shambles might sound like a familiar instrumental. Or was it the Miku show because, damn, she wrote the lyrics, played the important rhythm parts, and added her unique brand of backup vocals that have become a defining "sixth instrument" of Band-Maid. So exactly whose show was it? It was the Maid's show, as usual! 🤘🎀🤘Thx, Joel!
Did you catch their Lollapalooza performances on Hulu today, Joel? They really knocked it out of the park. They played 19 songs the previous night at the after party and then 13 more this afternoon. They didn't play this song though. Not yet. 😀
The first seconds and this bridge with the buildup driven by the drums already belong to the best of them for me. And yes, that they set the place on fire was really fitting. 🔥🤘🏻 That effect on Saiki's voice isn't used that infrequently at all. However, I think it was most prominently used in their song 'Rinne' so far, which has a similar energy signature as this song here. :) _____________________ 「 _"Our rock never dies ever. Forever!"_ 」 - from *BAND-MAID* - 'Manners' 🎶🕊
They are using vocal effects on: "Arcadia Girl", "Don't Let Me Down", "Shake That", "alone", "secret My lips", "Choose Me", "Alive-or-Dead", "DICE", "glory", "hide-and-seek", "Bubble", "Liberal", "Wonderland", "Dilemma", "The Dragon Cries", "flying high", "Blooming", "Rinne", "Warning!", "H-G-K", "Giovanni", "HONKAI", "Corallium", "Balance", "Influencer", "HATE?". Maybe I forgot some but these are songs with more or less vocal effects. Sometimes it's in the beginning of the song, sometimes at the end of the verse, before the solo or during the bridge. 🙃
A bomb exploded today in the morning in the world of UA-cam...it was thrown by Band-Maid...what a banger...( The song Secret my Lips has that effect on the voice too)
Distortion/effects on the vocals during the verse is used frequently in BM songs: Rinne, Secret My Lips, Unleash!!!!!, Bubble, from just off the top of my head.
World premiere tonight at the Lollapalooza aftershow? There are several songs where she starts the song with a filter on her voice, then she goes clean for the chorus. It brings it into focus.
I heard some heavy "Industrial Metal" mixed in. I haven't heard that from them before but I love it. Miku and that Flappy Pigeon can chug with the best of 'em.
Dragon Cries has a bunch of distortion on the vocals for pretty much the whole song... which makes it kind of divisive amongst the fan base. Check it out, it's different. I think this song fscking rocks, glad you enjoyed it too!
Hey Sir! I'm not at all shocked to see you first on the Reaction here - nice! And as for the song... Dang. Misa and Akane KILL IT! (And the others are pretty good too. - heh) Rock onnnnn! 🤘😎👍
Never was a fan of the effect they use on Saiki's voice. And they use it in several songs. Now it sounds like they are using it on Kanami's guitar. Other than that, it's a banger!
Blooming, Rinne, Don’t let me down, along with few others use distortion on the vocals. I feel they over use it. That and over compressing everything. They did back off the compression a small amount on the remastering of the new 10 anniversary set. On many of the albums they are so compressed the inter-sample-peaks push the audio levels to above 0dBfs. I'm hoping it is enough I can listen to the album without ear fatigue by the 3rd song. From an email Band-maid sent out "Shambles" will be the ending theme song for Netflix "Kengan Asura" Season 2!" Maybe they only use the distortion that are theme songs, I'm not sure.
Rinne music video has heavy distortion on her vocals but yea, good song…im just sorry for Kanami’s wrists…she keeps writing these crazy songs but then she has to perform them live over and over again 😂
ANOTHER ABANDONED WAREHOUSE? ANOTHER SONG IN THE BAND-MAID "FORMULA". I HOPE TO SEE MORE "SLOWER ROCK" SONGS THAT THEY DO BETTER THAN ANYONE, IMHO. FANS ALSO WANT TO HEAR MORE OF KANAMI SINGING. HOPING MORE MVs ARE RELEASED SHOWING MORE VARIETY OF STYLES AND INFLUENCES.

Band-Maid , Deep Purple and Lovebites. You can't go wrong with those "highway stars"! 😊❤️🔥
As an old Aussie Rocker I heartily agree, except my daughter won't let me play BM anymore when I'm driving because I racked up two speeding tickets in quick succession playing So What 😂 cheers 👍🍻
And there so many other excellent Japanese bands ! Nemophila, Gacharic Spin, Doll$ Boxx and one from the 80s called Show Ya.

Band-Maid doing Band-Maid things.🤘🤘🤘

Listen to Misa's bass riffs through each verse. Every part of every riff is almost completely different and she goes nuts on every song as well.
Amazing! Every song by Band Maid is a journey, they take you on a ride and shake your boots along the way!

Of course it's a Banger. It's Band Maid. They are performing at Lallapalooza this weekend. A major step for a Japanese Band in the West!!!!!
AKANE's kick drum pattern is awesome.😡😡😡👍🔥
They have improved so much and this just slaps hard. Might be my favorite MV yet!! Rock on Ladies!! 🤘🎸🔥
great new song. luv our maids.
Band Maid will be live at Lollapalooza on HULU Friday at 10:45 AM pacific time live stream.
Thanks for the lovely reaction. Beautiful song!
This will rock hard live
distortion on vocals are in one of your fav's - choose me
Akane went full Gorilla mode on this one had me in Shambles , cheers mate
I had the same reaction! I just started to smile !! YES ITS AWESOME!!
RINNE has some distortion and as all of Band-Maid tracks, straight slaps :)
Keep up the great work man :)
Also parts of Blooming and Secret My Lips
Brother, the Maids brought it on this one
The Smile on your face was almost as big as mine 😊
New Band-Maid in the morning, who needs coffee now! Great rocking song!
I heard some heavy "Industrial Metal" mixed in. I haven't heard that from them before but I love it. Miku and that Flappy Pigeon can chug with the best of 'em.
also Bubble has distortion on the vocals , another superb song
Dragon Cries has a bunch of distortion on the vocals for pretty much the whole song... which makes it kind of divisive amongst the fan base. Check it out, it's different.
I think this song fscking rocks, glad you enjoyed it too!
Vocals on Dragon Cries were produced Tony Visconti who also produced some David Bowie albums.
ALERT ALERT ALERT Band Maid @ Lollapalooza on HULU 1:45 today Friday 8/4
Just arrived back in the States. Playing in Anaheim on the 15th.
Hey Sir! I'm not at all shocked to see you first on the Reaction here - nice! And as for the song... Dang. Misa and Akane KILL IT! (And the others are pretty good too. - heh) Rock onnnnn! 🤘😎👍
Rinne has distorted vocals. One of my personal favorites!
The best drummer in the world just got better.
✌️🤟 🩹🤘 Rock On!
They have a lot of tracks with distortion on the voice (rinne, secret my lips, balance, blooming and else)
Akane in RAGE MODE...
Never was a fan of the effect they use on Saiki's voice. And they use it in several songs. Now it sounds like they are using it on Kanami's guitar. Other than that, it's a banger!
Do It !!
Have that chick back on and tell us Maidiacs how Saiki "lacks the it factor to be a front woman"... (Thrill video reaction)
Joel, do you think they will ever get a Grammy??
I enjoyed it a lot more with the captions off. The translated lyrics confused me more than they connected. Musically I dig it.
I think that's cause it's specifically written as an anime outro so if not familiar with the anime some of the lyrics are a little???
Killer track! 👊

Already done both albums and sound 👍👍 to me but that's my opinion
That's why their live version sound better.
😁
Rinne music video has heavy distortion on her vocals but yea, good song…im just sorry for Kanami’s wrists…she keeps writing these crazy songs but then she has to perform them live over and over again 😂
This song is a bit similar to their old song Shake That.....
Some bands get old and stale, and become parodies of themselves. Band Maid is not one of them.
They are very good at self evaluation and change.
@@bartyslattfast True. I wish that I could say the same of the members of my nation's Congress.
The lyrics include 'Like a fierce tiger'. Is this a reference to the Hanshin Tigers?
Rinne has distortion for some of the song.

Don't worry, this was made for an anime. I'm sure the new album will have things that you haven't think of yet
@@2abugyes, and the music is still good. If doing anime themes keeps them employed and making other music it's great.
@@2abug I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN, THEY ARE VERY CREATIVE.
@@bartyslattfast ANIME IS COOL!
Rinne - distorted vocals.
It was good but didn't care for the vocals I hope they don't use the distortion when they play this live
Lovebites and Band Maid are the best bands in the world in the moment !
