It’s nice to see parents of large families actually taking care of their family. I’m the 3rd of 10 children and we always went hungry, rarely had clean clothes, lived in squalor and moved constantly because we weren’t being cared for properly. Kudos to you for being responsible for your responsibilities and doing what is right for your family by keeping faith and religion in the home. The Lord is an integral part of a child’s upbringing to flourish into a caring and loving adult. Love to you and your family.❤️
I grew up in a family that fought all the time. One thing l learned was that you can choose to have a different experience for your family. The memories will always be there but its better to forgive and learn to do better.
I’m sorry you experienced that. We have 9 children with our 10th on the way, so I always ask adults who grew up in large families what they found rough or hard for them. 🧡
@@thisrothtribe3780 I cant speak for large families but just letting child/ren know they are loved and wanted and not made to feel unwanted or a burden speaks volumes and taking the time to listen and let them know they can openly talk to you about any issues or problems they may have without fear of judgement. . I think that would of helped me growing up.
I don't comment often but I really felt the need to just say thank you. Finding your channel and books has drastically changed my life for the better. Since watching you my relationship with god, myself, my husband and my children have improved so much. I don't know where I'd be with out you. I sincerely mean that. Thanks for doing what you do Amy.
Thank you Amy, once again you have helped me. I have a child in upper grade still struggling with multiplication , division and speed facts. Your approach is so relaxed. I was just talking to God about this two days ago. Praise Him. Thank you ever so much for sharing. Praise Him for His faithfulness. Blessings to you and your lovely family.
Amy I cannot tell you how much I needed this video today...homeschool encouragement was very much needed and appreciated!!! We already use your curriculum, I print it weekly and set up folders. So easy and it works so great for us. But I also love the idea of using workbooks from previous grades for reviews, great idea!!
the review tips are incredible - wish we knew about that back in the day (am 60 😃😉) - only late in life have I realized that I need to do something / read something THREE times before I get it 😳🥴 thought I was dim - along came 10 nieces / nephews with wide range of learning abilities - by chance realized that reading / doing something THREE times made Auntie Beth a rock star who knew everything 😂🤣 review review review AND you’re so right: read out loud to your kids - then read along - then read with - guess what - my kiddos are 14 thru 34 and we still read what the other is 😂🤣 thnx Amy for encouraging folks 💕🙏💕
I have sat in many of my daughter classrooms , during class time I calculated between taking attendance , getting settled in and the teacher having to stop to get onto a child . They teach and do about 25-35 mins tops . This yr we are Homeschooling our daughter this yr and loving it
I scrapped my kids work sent home in March ( they were 4 and 5). We did a bit of practice reading, 20 mins of ‘numbers’ and 20 minutes of ‘letters and sounds’. I read a kids book every day per child ( my youngest is 15 weeks) my husband reads a chapter of a family book (currently dr Doolittle books) He also reads to me each night x
Girl I have found mistakes in TONS of professionally edited and published books in the school systems over the years. You're good. 😆 Great advice throughout this video, especially at the end. It makes you a MUCH happier person if you just pray and let things go! A peaceful life is extremely important to me and that's how I've gotten that.
At 16:41 I paused and went to your website to look at the curriculum. I have been homeschooling for 9 years and have been satisfied with the curriculum that I use but have wanted something to supplement it with. Thank you, this looks perfect. I find that I am often looking for something that comes at the subject from a different angle because every teacher teaches how they learn and it doesn't always match how the student learns.
I have 11 kids. I have homeschooled for 25 years. My youngest son had no interest in learning to read until he was 13. He taught himself and was reading novels like Lord of the Rings in just a week or so. When I tried to "teach" him to read when he wasn't ready, he closed his mind to it. It was like I was force feeding him something he he didn't want. So when HE decided he wanted to read, it practically happened overnight. We NEVER stop learning...remember that.
Great tips on homeschooling. Casing "ALL OUR CARES ON HIM"! We aren't supposed to carry those things but continuously give them to The Lord ! There's a saying so true-- IF YOU PRAY WHY WORRY ! OPPOSITE- IF YOU WORRY WHY PRAY?
Thank you so much for this Ms Amy. Over the last year to 18m you have become my pastor, esp with the virus and all. I can’t begin to explain the shift in my life since I’ve started following your lead in my faith and family and home. Your ministry is such a blessing and an excellent example. Thank you for putting God first and following the calling he placed on you. I thank God for you!!
Love your concept! My kids went to public school, but I also involved them in fun learning at home. We were very engaged with school and home learning. I loved spending time with my children. Now I have grandchildren. Thank you for your encouragement for all the young families out there. 😊
My grandson is homeschooled and I love it! He is thriving!! I have Pinterest pages for his mom to reference and worksheets. I also work in a library and love helping find books for him. He is nine was almost burnt out on reading, I suggested a series I knew other little boys (and girls) were really enjoying. He is excited to read again. I have shared your UA-cam channel with her and am so thankful she has been led to so many wonderful resources for him. I am a history buff and love Railway Children. Have read the book, listened to the audio and seen the movies on PBS . What a blessing to hear you teaching on calmness and healthy detachment. You have such a gift to share Godly advice with us. I would totally wear a stick and stay shirt! May God continue to bless and keep you.
Oh my gosh! I homeschooled years ago and used your material but just realized! I have 2 little boys still in school and have been thinking of going back to homeschooling for them. This gives me so much encouragement! Thank you!
Gosh, this was so interesting. I only discovered you during the Covid lockdown and knew that you were a homeschooling family but I had no appreciation for what that really entailed. How helpful this video must be to other homeschoolers. I'm very grateful that you've shared you knowledge and experiences with others. Also, it is wonderful that you gave a shout out to your local library.....an untapped resource in most families.
One of the best things we did was to buy a basic Brother laser printer. The ink lasts longer and we get more printing per cartridge. We print off our a lot of our supplemental pages for the handwriting, planner pages and copying, instead of purchasing the extra books.
Thank you for helping parents out there with homeschooling esp in today’s world. That’s amazing. You’re amazing. Enjoyed day mostly sharing your talk at the end of the video. Looking forward to Friday but I always look forward to your videos daily. It looks absolutely beautiful seeing the leaves falling down. Great shots! Have a wonderful day.
Good morning. Thank you & all for prayers yesterday. We have a plan for moving forward that we think may work. Like everything there is some trial & error at this step, for the next year or so. Great to find a dr who answers all my 16yo questions and not talk to me, but her. You have a fantastic day. See ya tomorrow
Loved this video so much! Lots of great information. I have been homeschooling my kids for over 10 years and still found this to be a great reminder to not stress, to enjoy my kids, take time out and let them pursue their interests and just hang out. Thank you, Amy! We live in an area that is densely populated and Covid is more prevalent. Just sitting and playing on a screen can definitely become the default.
Many community college systems allow high school students to take classes for free through Dual Enrollment. This is a great way to fill in advanced math, foreign language, laboratory science, or other classes you may not be prepared to teach at home.
Rod and Staff preschool and k books are fabulous for the younger years...they are fun. Montessori in the first 8 years is ideal..imho...it is play based.
Amy, thank you! I have recommended your blog and youtube channel to many of the people who are concerned about doing homeschooling. This goes into so much depth and information. what a valuable resource! I will be sharing this one, I love to see homeschooled kids and want to support families in any way possible.
I gave my 10 year old son sandwich bags to sort out legos in his container. It has worked great. He had certain colors/ styles in each bag and now he doesn't have to dig as much.
I REALLY needed to hear this! I’ve always had it in my heart that I want to homeschool my kids. (I have 5) But I was afraid of being responsible of their education, and falling behind on house work. So when all the COVID stuff happened, it made me firmly decide to teach them at home. This being my first year I feel a lot of pressure for them to do it all, and finish all subjects in one day. But hearing you speak this wisdom I feel so much more confident to just relax and let them learn at their own pace and don’t force it when they feel overwhelmed. Thank you Amy. I’ve printed off some homeschool stuff off your site. Thank you for making it free! Gods Blessing to your family!
Good morning Amy . Sue here. Thank you for the info. We have a 7th grader that hates school. She has always been home schooled. In NY, the only way we can " unschool " is by showing that she has a learning disability. She doesn't. She only wants to do art ! She is an amazing artist . She wants to do fandom art and create her own Mongas. ( Japanese comic books ) She refuses to do anything else.
Haha!! This sounds like my daughter, painting all the time. I have no problem with it, because she is so, so good. We still do homeschool. We took her out of kindergarten because of bad experiences. But, she does art and crafts and makes inventions all the time. I think it has allowed her to blossom.
A way to teach spelling words in a unschooling way for the younger ones Use mega blocks and dry erase markers Write the letters on the blocks , than ask your little one to spell a word with the blocks . My daughter did this to study for her spelling words in public school and always did well on her tests and she enjoyed learning to spell
Thank you Amy for sharing your homeschooling I myself don’t have any children from school on my youngest is 38 years old but I greatly appreciate listening to your video and the tips I’ve had to teach your children and that their brain is going to take in so much at a time and getting out there in nature looking at the leaves counting the leaves pointing out the different color of the leaves are the trees the size of the rocks the big ones around once all of that very educational are greatly appreciate you putting this video out even though I don’t have any homeschooling children I watched most of the video it’s very educational and I hope that it benefits a lot of mothers out there that are homeschooling their children or wanting to homeschool their children
Amy I love how confident you are in your home schooling . You inspire me to be more confident in myself and my ability to provide a good education for my girls. At the end of our first year (what a year to start homeschooling!) I am really looking forward to the next year . I have used your Grade 6 & 8 books as books my girls use when we have to go to appointments in another town and they are really helping to cement their basic skills. The electives are now where I have to build my confidence but I will get there!
Amy, Thank you for the great advice for homeschooling on a budget. I have fallen into the homeschooling curriculum trap many times and would spend a fortune on books that we won't ever use or quit halfway into the semester. I am so glad I found your channel and your blog as you have given generously your free homeschool pdf files for all grade levels. I have downloaded some in hopes to use them to see how they work with my kids. I really love using the library for books and having my kids pick books that they are interested in. My oldest daughter learns how to make homemade cakes and decorate them beautifully. She has quite the talent when it comes to cake decorating that now we are venturing out to sell them to friends and family in our local area. I have found that homeschooling your kids you can help guide them to learn a new skill or explore their interest more. I have two other children who are a great artists and one who is awesome with digital design. My son is learning coding with scratch and enjoys it. My husband and him do this together as my husband works with computers and can guide him if he needs help. I am always looking for free homeschooling resources as I find them so much better most of the time than your typical homeschool curriculum.
Love all that you are doing ! We did scratch too with one of my kids. There are tons of free things out there..just have to look for them. Glad your husband helps him with that. Awesome having everyone working together ☺️. Have a wonderful day!
Hi Amy!! New subscriber of yours here.....I LOVE watching you everyday so THANK YOU for doing what you do! We live in Michigan, and I pulled my kids out of school to homeschool them. My husband thinks their noses need to be in a book 6 hours a day, so I will be making him watch this video tonight! Also going to go purchase your books on Amazon even though they are free on your website. THANK YOU AMY! Your family is truly an inspiration.
Our son is in 5th grade and attends public school. He is doing Virtual Learning this year and for the first few months of school he was only doing 2 1/2 hours of school because they broke the kids up into 2 groups and had a morning and an afternoon group. I was not happy and felt like he wasn't getting enough teaching from his teacher honestly. So, after the 1st week of school I bought your 5th grade curriculum book. He did schooling with me in the morning from your book, then did schooling with his regular teacher in the afternoon. I have to say, he learned more from me working together in your workbook than he ever got from what the school is providing. It's truly eyeopening, the amount of time the teacher actually instructs is SUPER minimal and as a parent upsetting. They must have realized their mistake because they just switched it to an all-day school model and I am watching very closely on what's being taught. For the time being we have stopped our "homeschool" until I can gauge what he is getting from regular school. Anyways, all of this to say I am very thankful for your curriculum. We were thrown into this idea of supplementing his education very abruptly and your workbook was so affordable for us on the fly. I thank you.
I just wanted to tell you this is my favorite vlog so far. You said things that I was already thinking. You described feelings I have felt or am feeling from day to day. I had already downloaded your spelling list for my kids last week. I have a son and daughter both in 6th grade and struggle with spelling so this makes me hopeful. Best video you have made so far! Thank you so much! I know the filming and editing took a long time and I really appreciate it. I needed this and am now ready with a fresh outlook for our school day today. THANK YOU!!
I've been homeschooling now for 4 years straight, and you are absolutely right. That first year of deschooling (no or very little formal school work) is absolutely needed. The kids need a break and they need time to unlearn some things learned at school. And preschooling should definitely be learning through play. Don't bore the kids! And don't overload any child of any age with work. And English grammar is mostly a review year after year. Even my 4th grader has realized that him and his 10th grade brother are usually doing the same things as far as English grammar is concerned in their workbooks. I also teach them Spanish together. History, financial literacy and home economics can usually be family taught subjects (most grades together) as well. Another great tip for homeschoolers is that you can buy used textbooks online via Thriftboooks and Amazon and others. That's what I do. I buy the very economical used textbooks and I buy the corresponding new workbooks. I also get books and other materials from Ollie's, Christianbook.com, Zulily, the library, Netflix, UA-cam, The Dollar Tree, Sam's Club, etc. Your curriculums, recipes and videos are a God-send, Amy! Thank you! As a single Mom, I was so pleased to see your curriculums online for free. I especially needed your reading book ideas, and your curriculums for tweens and teens regarding home economics and auto repair. Thanks so much!
Hi Amy! Wow! You are an amazing lady! I didn’t realise you had written All of those books for learning from such a young age to going into college. Here in the UK we start school at 4/5 depending on what age you are when the school year starts. I don’t believe that home schooling here is very popular as school is so accessible here. I thank you so much for encouraging people to do hOme school and for telling them not to try rush and push their child into doing things they are not ready for. I was never good at Maths and I remember crying every time we tried multiplication, my parents tried to drum it into me but I just couldn’t get it and I always got it wrong when we had to stand in front of the rest of class and answer questions. It has made me anxious about doing maths even now, I now know why I struggle but still. Keeping the learning at your child’s pace is always better and easier to do at home.... you are such a wonderful kind warm hearted woman and I’m so glad you are happy. I have always said the world would be a better place if there was more empathy in it. You never know what someone is going through or dealing with, give people the benefit of the doubt, don’t judge them on one conversation or something snippy they have said. I have learned the say things that are bothering me in a way is not confrontational and nasty but to ask if there’s a reason for doing something this way and that I would prefer if you did this instead of that. My hubby and I never go to sleep on an argument or bicker, I fact we rarely do either as we ask each other how we are, what is bothering us. If my husband is grumpy I ask are you in pain, most of the time he is and I know why so I just let it be instead of arguing about the way he spoke to me and he is the same with me. Empathy and kindness is needed all around! .. thank you my friend ! My hugs! ... ps sorry for the big ramble, I hope it all came across correctly and I didnt get muddled up.x
I REALLY want to homeschool my son BUT my only concern is, he’s an only child. I’d love to have more but pregnancy didn’t agree with my body. Thankfully he’s only 2 now. So I still have a few more years to decide!
Don't worry. Like you said, you have plenty of time to decide. By that time you'll know what will be the best decision for your child. Like Amy said every child learns different and also you being the Mom, you know your child a lot better than any teacher will ever know them!
My oldest is 5 years older then our 2nd oldest so she was on only child for awhile. She was so social anyway! It is all personality not schooling. Library time, soccer team, little league, homeschool groups, friends getting together, parks. After tjis virus crazziness you will besurprised at how much you can do 😊
I used to get so discouraged because my brother seemed so increasingly smart all A’s and all that and I was slower. My mom was so sweet. We both had the same IQ score but we just learned different. She never discouraged me just encouraged. Of course there was fighting but eventually we got into our groove.
I plan on homeschooling my children. Currently they are in headstart and I am starting to second guess myself. My twins are 4 and I have a 18 month old daughter. The oldest of my twins I feel needs my constant attention. He loves to learn and is always wanting to show me what he can do. The other, very seldom has any interest in working on the alphabet or anything else and is happy playing alone with his trains. Today their teacher met with me and voiced her concerns about the one not wanting to participate. She says she likes to push him. I don't, if he wants to participate great and if he doesn't then that's ok. Also I read an article about the bones in a child's wrist not completely forming until they are 7 and not to push writing. I would appreciate any feedback you may have. I know it's going to be tough, but I really feel that this is what is best for our family.
Amy....I finally was able to finish watching your video!!!! Busy busy day!!!! Loved your vlog, especially the end. I am 62 and am now just letting go and give it to the Lord!!!! Many many years of wasted anger and being down on myself. I am Still a work in progress 🤗 take care and have a great evening. I trust in our Lord with all my heart❤️. He will never fail or forsaken me 🤗🤗🤗😊✨✨✨✨🙏
My daughter is a second grade teacher what you don’t see is my daughter works 3 mire hours after she gets home from her job, with COVID she is not allowed to eat with her children since they have to eat in her room. She has No free time in the day to do anything since her students are with her from 7:30 am until 3:30 pm. Please be kind to teachers I’m glad you home school but do not judge something you do not witness . My daughter loves her students , if her parents would help that would make her job less stressful. That is my truth for today ❤️
This was SO helpful! Thank you ! I have a 7th and 9th grader and I have some learning disabilities myself. I have been watching my kids change and struggle and I can't help but think I can ease some of them. Thanks!
Thank you for sharing 💝 I am a mom of 4 BBGG (11,10,4,& almost 3yrs) with 3 special needs children. I homeschooled 2nd grade and put them back in public school later in 3rd grade after the public school had already started bc I thought I was doing it all wrong. This yr with Covid-19, I am homeschooling them (both 5th grade) and am really enjoying it and want to continue. Thank you for sharing what you do for middle schoolers bc that's where I was getting worried about. My oldest son has learning disabilities and comprehension issues, my 2nd son has Autism. (My almost 3yr old also has Autism) I love that you do a workbook from the grade before as review and then the next grade workbook. That is very helpful.
Hi Miss Amy ... I actually use your free curriculum with my daughter and she lovessssss working with it ... my son is 4 and my daughter just turned 6 ... i was so scared to teach them how to read and with your curriculum she is enjoying it .. i am so happy your doing this video .. i was so scared and confused about what I am doing and felt like I was messing it up but thank you a million for this video ..
As a teacher, I agree with you wholeheartedly. School should be fun, and homeschoolers have more flexibility and can give their kids more individual support that they often may not receive in our overcrowded public school systems. You can be more flexible, so use that flexibility. Some homeschoolers school year round, with breaks in between determined by their circumstances. If your child isn't getting a concept, spend more time on it. Go ahead to the next grade if your child has demonstrated mastery of that year's curriculum. Just a few tips: 1. Look to see what your local school system has in terms of curriculum, their pacing, the online curriculum they have and any resources that they offer. Do the same for your local community, does the town hall offer classes, etc.? What about the community college? How about having your older kid take classes there? Library? Parks? 2. Try to cover the 3 modalities of learning in every lesson: audio, visual, kinesthetic. Amy's example of learning the ABCs, from sounding it out, to tracing it in flour, to writing it, that's great! Think about how you can incorporate that in every lesson. 3. Use technology. There are tons of great learning programs out there that are used in school that will make learning more fun for kids and more interactive. (remember #1? Look and see what programs your school uses.) These usually already have audio, video, even some kinesthetic aspects included. Use yt, use ur phone, apps, etc. 4. Repeat, repetition helps with retention so go over content that was learned a week ago, and month ago and make sure to approach the content from different angles. If you're teaching multiplication and students aren't getting it, show them how to multiply by skip counting, etc. Change it up. 5. History and science can be harder subjects to cover (most elementary schools don't devote a lot of time to it either), so try to incorporate it in the other main subjects, namely through reading and math. Also, use technology. Lots of museums have virtual field trips, games you can play. READ historical books, scientific books to your kids and go through them. Use math to make slime and other projects. READ about historical figures, either read to your child and make it fun. Let them draw a picture and write as you read to them. WRITE about it. Make pamphlets, dioramas, etc. 6. Last, but not least, READ. Help instill the love of reading to your kids. If they're good readers, with good reading comprehension, they're ahead of the game. So make trips to the libraries, read in parks and in bed, read to them and have them read to you. Read.
I have used your on-line curriculum for the last 2 ears. Yeah, I found a few mistakes, but it is nothing bad. I just print off about a month off each time I print stuff off. I LOVE the fact that you included left handed pages. My son is a lefty. :)
We're doing distance learning this year with my youngest. We're prepping for homeschooling again in the fall. Prior to last spring she'd always been homeschooled, this whole process of brick and mortar school and then distance learning has not been working for her. I'm so excited to have found your channel because you've reminded me how simple it can truly be! I will be buying some of your books for her
I use your math, and love it. I just printed out your grammar, because we were using TGATB, and it was just too much. We haven't started using it yet. But we are about to be. I can definitely look over the errors. Lol it is free and I'm so thankful that you did that. Thank you so much, for making it free!! You have helped me tremendously. I was trying to make my own curriculum for my kids, and my computer kept erasing it. So I needed something fast. So this was so needed and appreciated.
Thank you Amy for your tips!!! Wish I would’ve known more about your wisdom in this area & resources before I started homeschooling. This year was my first year homeschooling. I really had no idea what to expect, so I thought a very structured all in one program would be best... we went with BJU Press which has a pretty heavy workload. I have 3 children but only one in school at the moment (he’s 11). At first he was taking about 8 hours a day and it was completely overwhelming for both of us. I decided to get rid of the “busy work” and it’s working much better for him now. He’s gotten the hang of it. All that to say next year I will be doing things much differently and I’ll be using your materials!
I love the idea of having them doing the extra books below their level...it is awesome reviews and makes them feel so successful, plus the younger years tend to make for more puzzlelike workbooks. Dollar tree has great phonics, spelling, and handwriting workbooks gor quick review.
Thank you for this video! When my kids were young we loved anything by brain quest, now they have affordable books...everything you need to know series. Most are for middle school, but we just found one for hs chemistry. Also if your looking for cheap stem activities destination imagination has free resources of all kinds of stuff for any age.
I went to school, but my mom still got me workbooks for the summers off and I had my tasks every day. Even when I had the mumps (both sides) & measles in 5th grade (in one go, I was on the cusp of the vaccinations so I didn't get the vaccine), my mom still gave me jobs to do, so I did not slouch around the couch feeling absolutely miserable. LOL. My mom wanted to "teach"! And I am glad she did because I got a great education and I am so glad for it. The schooling system in Belgium is great, don't get me wrong, but whatever you put into your child you get out of your child later on. I master 5 languages because of what my mom did for me.
The railway children is a wo fearful film are fab but the original is the best with bernard cribbins hope you all enjoy it the end always takes my breath away and I cry xx
I have just started homeschooling my 7 year old who has downs syndrome. I use your curriculum that I have printed lol I love it and I direct alot of people to your blog, the link is saved in my favorites haha. I also now have a 18month old and 6 month old so we are just doing our best. I agree that we should have done this from the beginning because her brain was just not ready starting school at 3. At 7 now she is starting to grasp your curriculum for the first year. We also supplement with dollar tree which I photocopy because I am cheap and want them to be able to go through all of my kids haha.
Thank you for this video. I really needed that reminder about homeschooling. Sometimes I feel guilty because I feel like we have done nothing some days (I know we have) but just needed the reminder.
I have Homeschooled for 4 years my 4 kids and I was shamed at first for doing it MY way!! And I was always told omg they will never learn.. and let me just say this.. all kids learn at there own pace and they learn there own way.. some ways work better and help them much much more. Example my son could read very quick and could read out loud right away and liked to. My youngest daughter had a harder time with learning to read.she would cry and throw a fit until about 7 and I finally asked her what she needed or what she wanted to tell me about her struggle and she told me she was scared and that when she read in her head she could read all day but reading out loud gave her anxiety and she would second guess herself thinking she was wrong and once she told me I found if we sat back to back alone in a room she could read to me for hours. So that's how I did it with her. There is NO WRONG WAY TO LEARN!!! I love having my kids home. We do activities like soccer baseball pageants ect so they are able to stay social and have friends.. homeschool can be truly amazing and super helpful if you just breath listen to the kids and go as slow or fast as they need.
THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!!!! I really needed some resources for my son's math, because the schools' resources aren't helping him. We're doing the distance learning and I think the math manipulatives are going to really help him get his math down! I'm going to try out some of your printables too. Thank you again and I really appreciate all of your encouragement! xoxo
One more thing. I was mad when I went to the community college and had to basically take all my math over again. DEV (developmental math). But they taught it where you review each year the past year. So I barely passed. I couldn't pass 104, so I switched to a different university and they taught it differently, and so I passed. Be aware of stuff like that. I think with a community college it's the equivalent of a GED, depending where you get tested into. So in some cases it might be better to go to a community college. And even if you don't graduate you can check mark on forms: some college. My community college taught ESL too. Fun fact: I actually live 10 minutes walking from my community college and I'd love to take another course except for the situation.
I hear about how families are spending thousands a year on school books to homeschool their kids, but i was never able to buy books and I felt like I was failing my kids because I thought homeschooling was textbooks. THEN I discovered that I could print whatever I needed or get a book at the library. Since then, I have come to learn I can do this myself and give my kids way more than a textbook could. Now, I am a private home school teacher and I have mountains of books I got at the free store, Goodwill, or yard sales, that I do unit studies from and mountains of printed worksheets that I can just recopy for any grade. My kids never open a textbook or workbook of any kind, I love the freedom of that.
With homeschooling your kids without using a program like PACE how do you submit things to the state? How does the child graduate? My kids are home schooled using the PACE program.
🙏🏻 thank you for this Amy! I have watched you for a long time and this was one of my favorite vids. Very inspirational and helpful with the homeschooling info. This is my first year homeschooling and we love it so far. You are an amazing woman and help me so much ❤️
@AmyMarion THANK you SO much for the reassurance during this season in our lives. I definitely am the one who needs to be calm and trust all will be well.
First off the raining leaves are beautiful, Fall is my favorite time of year. Secondly, where were you when I started homeschooling lol. This was wonderful advice for new homeschoolers and old ones. This channel is definitely a lovely ministry. God bless you sis and your lovely family always! TFS OH Super teachers is a great inexpensive homeschooling resource and Easy Peasy is Excellent and free!!! Coming from a Christian perspective in learning the curriculum goes all the way up to H.S. My family love the both of them.
Thank you for sharing ❤️
I appreciate all of your kind words and I am happy to share so that you can learn from my mistakes and be better:)
He is always good to direct us where to go
Amy I cannot tell you how much I needed this video today...homeschool encouragement was very much needed and appreciated!!! We already use your curriculum, I print it weekly and set up folders. So easy and it works so great for us. But I also love the idea of using workbooks from previous grades for reviews, great idea!!
Have a wonderful day 💕
the review tips are incredible - wish we knew about that back in the day (am 60 😃😉) - only late in life have I realized that I need to do something / read something THREE times before I get it 😳🥴 thought I was dim - along came 10 nieces / nephews with wide range of learning abilities - by chance realized that reading / doing something THREE times made Auntie Beth a rock star who knew everything 😂🤣 review review review AND you’re so right: read out loud to your kids - then read along - then read with - guess what - my kiddos are 14 thru 34 and we still read what the other is 😂🤣 thnx Amy for encouraging folks 💕🙏💕
I have sat in many of my daughter classrooms , during class time
I calculated between taking attendance , getting settled in and the teacher having to stop to get onto a child .
They teach and do about 25-35 mins tops .
This yr we are Homeschooling our daughter this yr and loving it
Yes agree
I've read a child gets max 15mins 1to1 a week!!!
I scrapped my kids work sent home in March ( they were 4 and 5). We did a bit of practice reading, 20 mins of ‘numbers’ and 20 minutes of ‘letters and sounds’.
I read a kids book every day per child ( my youngest is 15 weeks) my husband reads a chapter of a family book (currently dr Doolittle books)
He also reads to me each night x
Sounds wonderful
I am using your curriculum with my first grader this year. We started in July 💖 it’s working amazingly!
I'm happy

I'm 40 and I still like to have books read to me. So I like Audible, and read along with an e-book.
Lol thank you
I found your homeschool resources when my kids got sent home from school back in March.
Makes me smile 😊
I ordered your 1st grade curriculum for my grandson. I plan on ordering your curriculum for the rest of my grandchildren. I really love the books..
Thank you
At 16:41 I paused and went to your website to look at the curriculum.
I appreciate this thank you
Excellent tips on homeschooling. Have a wonderful day everyone.
There's a saying so true--
IF YOU PRAY WHY WORRY ! OPPOSITE-
IF YOU WORRY WHY PRAY?

This is the most comprehensive homeschool thru highscool video ive ever seen! 😁 i am so grateful for ur book recommendations tfs.🍂💛
Welcome
Thank you so much for this Ms Amy. Over the last year to 18m you have become my pastor, esp with the virus and all. I can’t begin to explain the shift in my life since I’ve started following your lead in my faith and family and home. Your ministry is such a blessing and an excellent example. Thank you for putting God first and following the calling he placed on you. I thank God for you!!
I appreciate your kind words ❤️. Keep seeking Him
Love your concept! My kids went to public school, but I also involved them in fun learning at home. We were very engaged with school and home learning. I loved spending time with my children. Now I have grandchildren. Thank you for your encouragement for all the young families out there. 😊
Welcome
I appreciate all of your kind words. Thank you for sharing all of this 😊
Oh my gosh! I homeschooled years ago and used your material but just realized! I have 2 little boys still in school and have been thinking of going back to homeschooling for them. This gives me so much encouragement! Thank you!
Makes me smile
I am so proud of my daughter, she is in 6th grade and she read Green eggs and ham myself for the first time the other day.
Amy, every time I buy a Lego set for one of the grandkids I buy a container for them to go in along with the instructions. Works well.
So smart
Gosh, this was so interesting. I only discovered you during the Covid lockdown and knew that you were a homeschooling family but I had no appreciation for what that really entailed. How helpful this video must be to other homeschoolers. I'm very grateful that you've shared you knowledge and experiences with others. Also, it is wonderful that you gave a shout out to your local library.....an untapped resource in most families.
So glad to have met you. Have a wonderful day
One of the best things we did was to buy a basic Brother laser printer. The ink lasts longer and we get more printing per cartridge. We print off our a lot of our supplemental pages for the handwriting, planner pages and copying, instead of purchasing the extra books.
Yes ours was a brother too
The Railway children has always been one of my favourite films. Classic here in the UK. The old one is so atmospheric, not seen the other version.
First year of homeschooling and we are loving it ❤️
I'm happy for you
You can get filler workbooks at Ollies as well and just readers. I have also used your workbooks and we love them as well.
Thank you for sharing ❤️
Thank you for helping parents out there with homeschooling esp in today’s world. That’s amazing. You’re amazing. Enjoyed day mostly sharing your talk at the end of the video.
Looking forward to Friday but I always look forward to your videos daily.
It looks absolutely beautiful seeing the leaves falling down. Great shots!
Have a wonderful day.
Thanks Kathy ❤️. You are a blessing 🙂
Thanks for sharing ❤️
Many community college systems allow high school students to take classes for free through Dual Enrollment. This is a great way to fill in advanced math, foreign language, laboratory science, or other classes you may not be prepared to teach at home.
Rod and Staff preschool and k books are fabulous for the younger years...they are fun. Montessori in the first 8 years is ideal..imho...it is play based.
Yes
Amy, thank you! I have recommended your blog and youtube channel to many of the people who are concerned about doing homeschooling. This goes into so much depth and information. what a valuable resource! I will be sharing this one, I love to see homeschooled kids and want to support families in any way possible.
I'm happy to share 😊
I gave my 10 year old son sandwich bags to sort out legos in his container. It has worked great. He had certain colors/ styles in each bag and now he doesn't have to dig as much.
haha - should have done that with my nephews - Auntie Beth was “the finder and sorter” 😂🤣
We have been using your math and English curriculum and we are so grateful!! Thank you so much ❤
I'm happy to share
Thanks so much for all you have done!! Using your k-1 curriculum this year for my kinder!!! What a blessing you are!!
Have a wonderful day
@@amymaryon thanks, you too!
I use your English, spelling, and writing for my 8 kids. We've used them for years! Easy to use and the kids enjoy it.
Thank you
I REALLY needed to hear this!
Relax is the best thing.. enjoy those Wonderful children that you have been entrusted to teach ;)
Look up some ways to integrate art into basics :)
A way to teach spelling words in a unschooling way for the younger ones
Use mega blocks and dry erase markers
Write the letters on the blocks , than ask your little one to spell a word with the blocks .
My daughter did this to study for her spelling words in public school and always did well on her tests and she enjoyed learning to spell
Thank you
You are welcome
Thank you for your videos ,
They have helped me in Homeschooling with our daughter
I appreciate your kind words ❤️
I love the way you home school ,
Thank you
Amy I love how confident you are in your home schooling .
Makes me smile 😊
Very much welcome ❤️. Nice to meet you!
Thanks Amy! We downloaded your workbooks this year for free and we are so grateful for the work you put in!
Glad they are useful
I'm sorry for such upheavel in your home. I am glad it worked for you so at least you know if you need it again .praying all stays good
I just wanted to tell you this is my favorite vlog so far. THANK YOU!!
Makes me smile.. I am glad it is what you needed to hear :)
Easy Grammar is also awesome for English.... your great.. lots of good info. Ty
More homeschool videos! ❤️
Thanks for idea
I'm a new subscriber and you absolutely spoke to me today. Thank you for all the tips on CALMNESS :)
Nice to meet you and you are very welcome
Welcome and thank you for sharing ❤️
Hi Amy!
I understood completely:). Thank you for sharing ❤️
Thanks for the resources Mrs. Maryon those tools could help me help my son in areas where I fall short/have difficulty.
Welcome
I'm so thankful for your homeschool resources
Thank you Lord for Ms Amy I learn so much from you You help me so much
Have a wonderful day
I REALLY want to homeschool my son BUT my only concern is, he’s an only child. I’d love to have more but pregnancy didn’t agree with my body. Thankfully he’s only 2 now. So I still have a few more years to decide!
My son is an only child and he loves homeschooling. We've done it for 6 years and he's 14.
@@heatherchrisco9106 That’s so good to hear!!!
Don't worry. Like you said, you have plenty of time to decide. By that time you'll know what will be the best decision for your child. Like Amy said every child learns different and also you being the Mom, you know your child a lot better than any teacher will ever know them!
Thanks for sharing ❤️ everyone with one child
My oldest is 5 years older then our 2nd oldest so she was on only child for awhile. She was so social anyway! It is all personality not schooling. Library time, soccer team, little league, homeschool groups, friends getting together, parks. After tjis virus crazziness you will besurprised at how much you can do 😊
I used to get so discouraged because my brother seemed so increasingly smart all A’s and all that and I was slower. My mom was so sweet. We both had the same IQ score but we just learned different. She never discouraged me just encouraged. Of course there was fighting but eventually we got into our groove.
Good momma
You go with what you feel..I have found kids all grow at different levels .so be patient and work with what they like :)
He will never fail or forsaken me 🤗🤗🤗😊✨✨✨✨🙏
No he will not!! Thank you
My daughter is a second grade teacher what you don’t see is my daughter works 3 mire hours after she gets home from her job, with COVID she is not allowed to eat with her children since they have to eat in her room. She has No free time in the day to do anything since her students are with her from 7:30 am until 3:30 pm. Please be kind to teachers I’m glad you home school but do not judge something you do not witness . My daughter loves her students , if her parents would help that would make her job less stressful. That is my truth for today ❤️
My nephew is like that. My step-mom would point stuff out in her garden and he will repeat it. He's really smart. He's 2 and 1/2?
This was SO helpful! Thank you ! I have a 7th and 9th grader and I have some learning disabilities myself. I have been watching my kids change and struggle and I can't help but think I can ease some of them. Thanks!
Welcome
One can use one book for multiple class subjects. For example, a history book could be used for English as well.
Yes another way 😊
I really love you Amy cuz u speak the truth love love love and you say I can be wrong give our options
This was a perfect video for my husband and I to see. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge!
Welcome 😄
Thank you for sharing 💝
I am a mom of 4 BBGG
(11,10,4,& almost 3yrs) with 3 special needs children.
Thanks for sharing ❤️
You're welcome 💝
The railway children is one of my most favorite film and I am 67 years old
Hi Miss Amy ...
No messing ..just keep doing and they will be fine
As a teacher, I agree with you wholeheartedly. School should be fun, and homeschoolers have more flexibility and can give their kids more individual support that they often may not receive in our overcrowded public school systems. You can be more flexible, so use that flexibility. Some homeschoolers school year round, with breaks in between determined by their circumstances. If your child isn't getting a concept, spend more time on it. Go ahead to the next grade if your child has demonstrated mastery of that year's curriculum.
Just a few tips:
Read.
Love this ! Thank you!!!!
I have used your on-line curriculum for the last 2 ears. Yeah, I found a few mistakes, but it is nothing bad. I just print off about a month off each time I print stuff off. I LOVE the fact that you included left handed pages. My son is a lefty. :)
Thank you
We're doing distance learning this year with my youngest. We're prepping for homeschooling again in the fall. Prior to last spring she'd always been homeschooled, this whole process of brick and mortar school and then distance learning has not been working for her. I'm so excited to have found your channel because you've reminded me how simple it can truly be! I will be buying some of your books for her
It can be simple :)
@@amymaryon She's absolutely excited to get back to homeschooling in the fall and so am I! A return to a calmer chapter in her learning adventure

Jayden your hair is such a pretty colour ♥️ We also watched the Railway Children as kids here in NZ
It is a pretty color:)
Welcome
I had to live and learn too....but I am glad you are deducting out some of the busy work :). Praying for your year
@@amymaryon appreciate your prayers! ;)
The railway children I grew up with that movie my children loved the film and also my grandchildren love it enjoy x
I love the idea of having them doing the extra books below their level...it is awesome reviews and makes them feel so successful, plus the younger years tend to make for more puzzlelike workbooks.
Dollar tree has great phonics, spelling, and handwriting workbooks gor quick review.
Yes they do
Thank you for this video!

Wow!!! Awesome!!! What 5 languages? I only mastered 2 and speak a little French and rudimentary Latin hahaha
@@sarahgirard1405 That's awesome too. Latin is not easy!!! Mine are Dutch, English, French, German and Spanish.
I’d love to learn Brasilien Portuguese sometime. It’s such a beautiful language! So soothing.

No guilt ..just enjoy life and teach normal life moments

Thank you again and I really appreciate all of your encouragement! xoxo
Much welcome
The Abekkah (sp?) Books are generally a grade ahead... but it's awesome!
Yes thank you
I like how you do your homeschool, a great idea. 2 of my 3 are doing home school but with k12, and connections academy. Have a wondeful day today.
You too
One more thing.
Amy you are so refreshing 😀 I really needed this video today. Thank you so much for all your help and support and freebies you are amazing ❤️
Have a wonderful day
I hear about how families are spending thousands a year on school books to homeschool their kids, but i was never able to buy books and I felt like I was failing my kids because I thought homeschooling was textbooks.
Yes ..this is exactly a great way to school
With homeschooling your kids without using a program like PACE how do you submit things to the state? How does the child graduate? My kids are home schooled using the PACE program.
Always great advice and Love your resources! Very helpful in years when we can't afford school items. But love it in years when I can buy your books.
Yes it wins either way;)
Thank you so much for that advice! I bought the scholastic books for the kids this year.
:)
You bless me so much, Amy!
Have a wonderful day ❤️

Can you link those containers for legged please. They would be great for barbies stuff too?
It's been very difficult with my "differently abled " teenager. We will do the best we can with the remote/Virtual school.
@AmyMarion THANK you SO much for the reassurance during this season in our lives. I definitely am the one who needs to be calm and trust all will be well.

My granddaughter is 8 and she loves to read, she will read to me on the nights I tuck her in if her mom is at work.
Makes me smile
First off the raining leaves are beautiful, Fall is my favorite time of year. Secondly, where were you when I started homeschooling lol. This was wonderful advice for new homeschoolers and old ones. This channel is definitely a lovely ministry. God bless you sis and your lovely family always! TFS OH Super teachers is a great inexpensive homeschooling resource and Easy Peasy is Excellent and free!!! Coming from a Christian perspective in learning the curriculum goes all the way up to H.S. My family love the both of them.
Yes ! I forgot to add that..I have it on my blog:). Thank you for suggestions 😊
