Damian...I'm 73 and have seriously have been trying to et these solos since 1958 on my $14.00 Silvertone !!! Boom! it only took 64 years!!!! thanks ... I got 'em
I have a picture of Gene Vincent and The Blue Caps on my fridge. It’s hard to believe Cliff played all those great solos in such a short time. I respect his decision to stop playing professionally, but the world missed out on what he could have done! I’m glad we have what we do.
Thanks for breaking this down Damian! Trying to learn Cliffs stuff has always been daunting for me because he was so good and style was so different! You rock!
And in my humble opinion should be at least in top 40 not just because of his talents but for his impact on rock n roll and guitarists for decades after hearing him. Very unique guitarist who combined many styles to come up with his signature sound.
I agree mate , but you know the list of great guitarists only means known in/by the media, there are great musicians out there that no one has ever heard of. Over here in UK not many people know Damian but hes a fantastic player.
Awesome as usual Damian. I don’t comment often, but I truly appreciate the lessons. Spot on as usual. And I’ll add that, as I have watched/listened to you, I appreciate your style. You (often) bring us note for note lessons, but always sound like you and bring your own vibe. To me, that makes a great musician. Slainte’ brother.
🎵 You've done it again Damian! Yet another killer tutorial from the UA-cam master of rockabilly! Every guitar player should have some Cliff Gallup licks in their arsenal and this one is a must learn for any serious player. Excellent Damian, just love your videos, so enjoyable to watch and entertaining as well as really informative and interesting. You come across as a truly great guy too! Wonderful! 🎵
Wow, nice work, beautiful sounding guitar! I don't play, but wish I did! I love Gene & the Blue Caps, esp. Cliff's guitar playing! Just watching you play is so cool!
Yes! This I EXACTLY what was looking for! Also, Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps appear in the rock and roll classic “The Girl Can’t Help It” - totally Hollywood but worth a look. THANK YOU DAMIAN.
From someone who's trying to improve his playing, I have to tell you that your videos are extremely helpful and also fun to watch. Keep on rocking! 🎸🎸🎸
Great lesson Damian! Two years between Cliff Gallup lessons? What were you thinking? 😂 Good stuff, thanks for this, and thanks for the additional live performance info at the end, that was greatly appreciated. Have a great Sunday and an awesome week! 🤠
Hey Damian, any chance you could demo another great Gene Vincent number, Say Mama, it's such a great song but there's no tutorials on yt. Thanks buddy, your a great guy.👍👍
Great as always, Damian. Have you ever thought about doing an analysis of the guitar on Joe Montgomery’s Cool Cat from 1956? The solos are really interesting.

Thank you Mark. Hope the lesson is helpful. :)
Wow. Cliff Gallup died in 1988 at the age of 58. He was a school maintenance man, but is ranked 79th on Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Guitarists”
