    4 Stanley Cup wins for Detroit since 1997 - not too shabby....
    4 goals in 2 games for Rafalski ! Love to see that from a hometown guy!

    Miracle isn't just about the hockey game. it's about what was going on in the world at the time, and the fact that a bunch of rival college hockey players beat the best team in the world.

    gether for 10 years straight. In Canada, hockey is a game of life. We feel better about ourselves if we win and shitty if we lose. No other country is so attached to a sport as Canada is with hockey. And with a record 14 gold medals in Vancouver, we're pretty damn great at other sports as well :)

    @DoinThupidThings When it comes to hockey pools at work, I go for the point getters. When it comes to playoff hockey pools, I switch my strategy, and go for Canadian players as much as possible. Or other players, who play with the determination and grit like Canadians. They(we) ALWAYS step it up when it matters!

    I'm from Canada and even I know that USA played a brilliant hockey game, you guys gave us a serious run for our money. Even after Parise tied it, and I felt so sick going into OT, I knew win or lose it was going to be a good game...Nowadays hockey is all about nationality it's no longer about respecting other teams and other players talent; I mean people look at you funny if you like a player on a different team WTF? the way most fans are thinking is literally destroying this great sport...

    Canadians and Americans both had great teams! I'm proud of our silver medal. We weren't even supposed to get a bronze medal. It was supposed to be about Russia and Canada in Vancouver. 2014, we'll have to see. 1980 makes me proud to be American! USA, USA!! Btw, what happened to Team Canada that year?

  • @ralphyization
    @ralphyization 14 років тому

    @beefcakes42 But, that shot DID go through! That's how hockey works! I think anyone with an eye and an arshole, knows that it could have went either way. Great game to BOTH teams, no doubt, but we DO absolutely LOVE hockey up here, probably more than all the other sports combined, THAT is why we "carry on" so much! Elation!

  • @DoinThupidThings
    @DoinThupidThings 15 років тому

    Why in the hell would we worry about losing that first game? Did we way that we are perfect? NOOO, but we are the best. It's the team that wins the LAST game, not the third game in the tournament. Congratulations Canada on your GOLD in Men's, your GOLD in Women's (3 cheers to usa for the silvers), and your 14 gold medals, the most ever won by a country. Canada, you beat the combined total of Russia and USA, and add their pop together and that is half a billion. Way to go, Canada--NUMBER ONE

    @maggsterrrrr All our players were in the NHL! That's back when 75% of the NHLers were Canadian. Now we're only at 51%. Considering, Canadians are outnumbered 180:1 by the rest of the world, it's amazing , really, that we are winners in any world event!

    Canada isn't out yet. It will just be a tougher road now. This is the time they will have to dig deep and we will see how much they want it (just like every other contender). It's always the same 4-5 dominant teams in it at the end anyway.

    Hockey is Canada's Sport and it always will be we Won 5 Gold in a row for IIHF and yes i wanted Canada to win but the US deserved it more they showed that they wanted it and played there hearts out. But For 2010 The Superpower Teams Defiantly are Canada, Russia,USA,Sweden and Finland. Canada has the best all around team and the US has a more Offensive team with a lot of Younger Players but I think the Finals will Be Canada-Russia or Russian-Sweden.

    @thecolourblue100 I'm Canadian, and I don't think so. I was in Detroit cheering for the Predators, because one of their players played Junior in my hometown(Sault Greyhounds), but I was also cheering for Raflaski, et al on Detroit. (hockey pool)
    I was absolutely cheering for Steve Sullivan from Nashville, but at the same time, Detroit. Once I explained my situation to the season ticket holders next to me( I'm really a Toronto Maple Leaf's fan), they felt sorry, and wanted to party ! Al G

    We taught you guys too well, eh? haha! ( Miller, Parise,Kane, etc.) Great team, no doubt! THAT'S the fun of winning an epic game, GREAT competition!

    @ralphyization true what you say. And the only reason the USSR won all those golds for 50 years is because our best were in the NHL and couldn't partipate. Can you imagine of that '87 Canada Cup winning team had played togther for 10 years like the Soviets had? Holy shit, the series wouldn't have gone 3 games I can tell you that. And in '72 we WOULD have beaten them 8 straight if Henderson and Esposito and Cournyer and all those guys (Bobby Orr and Bobby Hull weren't even there) had played to-

    @MrStupidmonkey55 If you're referring to our GOLD medal WINNING WOMEN, they, yes, there was one girl who was under drinking age in B.C., but in her home province of Quebec, the drinking age is 18! Did they deserve to celebrate? ABSOLUTELY! Does EVERY canadian men's beer league, or women's beer league have a beer (or 2) after the game? STANDARD!!
    They did that celebration2 hours after the game! I'm SO proud of them. THAT'S the WAY Canadians PARTY!

    @ralphyization That is right, nothing but Gold does for Canada. You see countries like Russia and USA and Sweden and Finland bragging about their silver medals, but Canada won't even admit they got a silver medal. We love our GOLLDD

    @beefcakes42 ooh alright awesome and you do have a valid point the us team was really good and definitly had canadians nervous but as a Canadian i have to add in again we were better :P but u.s did an awesome job on a silver medal

  • @beefcakes42
    @beefcakes42 15 років тому

    yea,i mean of course i wanted usa to win,and im not saying canada didnt deserve it,but im sick of people saying "yea usa sucks they lost" when we already beat canada once(gold medal aside), and had an extremely close game for the gold.

  • @Mikevdog
    @Mikevdog 15 років тому

    Why even talk about "without Miller". There is no without Miller--he's on the team. Why not rely on him? He's better than your guy who gave up 5 goals on half the number of shots.

  • @Mikevdog
    @Mikevdog 15 років тому

    It's just a qualifying game. Nobody has won anything yet. That said, I won't cheapen the effort put forth in the game by attributing the win to just luck. Winners usually make their own luck by being prepared, conditioned and putting themselves in position to win.

  • @voguegirl01
    @voguegirl01 15 років тому

    @beefcakes42 Well I guess another point would be if the US didnt get that goal in the last couple of seconds then Canada could also have "easily" won the game earlier instead of in overtime. You do have a valid point that Canada did not win with ease it took a ton of effort because US is an amazing team but the fact is Canada was better and we won olympic gold end of story

    No one plays hockey in the U.S. except for a few states. It's growing, but only a handful of states play. Even NASCAR is more popular than hockey! Football, basketball, baseball, golf, NASCAR, hockey no joke!

  • @beefcakes42
    @beefcakes42 15 років тому

    yea u better take another look at the game,boy. cause the whole tournment and both prelim and gold game agaisnt eachother is a perfect example of how canada isnt so tough to the usa, we were undefeated,and so would u if u didnt lose to us, and gold medal aside, say what u want but u know u were gettin the piss scared outa u every minute of that game,cause the whole arena was quiet until crosby scored in OT. so let me re-phrase that...canada was far from "schooling" the usa. :D
