Lyrics:
She was a dark haired Juarez beauty
Flirting with a GI Joe off duty
Working him for tips at a bar in Mexico
One cigarette smoke break by the back door
Turned into a pack on the hood of his Ford
Where he is now, the devil knows
A late night 2am mistake
But sometimes one time is all it takes
Won't be long now before she starts to show
Can you smell that smoke
Drifting in the desert wind to San Antone
A wild-eyed Senorita becomes a desperate mamacita
You had to go, leave a heart on fire in Mexico
Turns out all the big dreams she had
Didn't look like feeding mouths on food stamps
So one night she up and drove away
That baby girl she left surviving
One day got really tired of crying
Going mad as hell and counting down the days
Can you smell that smoke
Drifting in the desert wind to San Antone
A wild-eyed Senorita becomes a desperate mamacita
You had to go, leave a heart on fire in Mexico-o-o-o-o
In Mexico-o-o-o-o
No one to care, nowhere to go
But in and out of foster homes
She had a dream that burned and she made it out
Rolling to those Texas hills
Had herself a dark-eyed girl
Swore off the tears she cried
Was a pain she'll never know
Can you smell that smoke
Drifting in the desert wind to San Antone
A wild-eyed Senorita becomes a desperate mamacita
You had to go, leave a heart on fire in Mexico
In Mexico
This is giving me hope that my little girl and I will make it. Life has just kicked us down hard and I feel like giving up. She is the only reason I have now to live
DONT give up..sometimes when you reach the end of your rope you have to tie a knot and hold on for dear life
Single mom of a beautiful daughter. Pregnant at 18, had her at 19 with absolutely no idea of how i was going to do it. I was broken & and sadly, she went through hell and high water with me. It was hard to be stable. There were times we went without food, lights & hot water. I cried a ALOT, even to her & all I could feel were these little hands consoling me with tears in her big beautiful eyes and this angelic voice telling me that "it was going to be okay, Mommy." & every time, I got up, dusted myself off, and I pushed forward even harder. I committed myself to her completely because she deserved all of me. She is 21 now, she will be graduating college. I am a business owner & She tells me almost everyday how proud she is of me just as much as I tell her. The the two of us couldn't be happier.
Don't give up!! Be Determined for that beautiful little girl of yours, SHE IS WORTH IT! One day you both will be abel to look back and remember the journey yall had and appreciate each other so much more than you know.
From one mom to another 💜
How are you two doing?
Oh sweetie I’ve been there too.. my children are grown now & now I get cuddles & kisses from my grandsons!!! It’s a long rough road but darlin I swear the love is worth every minute of hardship
I know how you feel, if i didnt have a son id have been on news a year ago strangling PMs in Parliament L) cheer up. You and you daughter all that matters. Health and happiness. I wish you good energy.
This song will be around for a good long while. It’s beautiful.
This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. I was a young 18 year old in Texas when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter ( now 41)....the first years were rough...but this song had me crying ugly tears so happy I went through it WITH my daughter!!!! She's a blessing in my life and heart that made it all worth it!!
It breaks my heart to think of a mother abandoning their child.
My mother was put into an orphanage by her mother; she was very young, raped and abused. Grandma wanted to fool around, didn't want a kid. My tried to be a mother, she really did. I was abused, starved, and all she could say was "at least I kept you with me. "I wish you were never born." Messed me up bad. Some women, some men, should never have children. I know this goes on today. 😢😢😢😢😢
@@aimeekubik8803I feel so bad for you 😢
Clearly You missed the part where this song is about a mother abandoning her daughter. 🤣
@@troywoodhouse3495 clearly you didn't read/ comprehend my post! 🙃
Sometimes you have to keep going even if your heart is on fire. Can't let those we love see us weak, cant become the replica of the person who disappeared on us
😢😢So easy to say. A Motherless, or fatherless, child is never whole. It takes a wise motherto raise her son to Man Up and accept his responsibilities. Where are these men to be found? In my younger years the "boys will be boys" is what the boys heard, giving them tacit permission to screw around and abandon their children. Another popular saying was "there are two kinds of women: the ones you bring home to mom, and the one's you don't." I guess the ones you ruin for your gratification are just born for your abuse and abandonment.
Women rock the cradle, they have an awesome responsibility, the least you can do is provide.
If you can't be, don't want to be, a father, get yourself fixed.
You hit a lot of hearts with those words honey. I can't stop listening. Old memories from long ago. Still smell the smoke.
me, too, Sandra.
Thats a beautiful song, it shows not only the struggles of being a single mom but coming to america with the determination to give her daughter a life she didnt have.
I can’t stop listening to this song
This song makes you feel the story I love it
Can't stop listening to this song. It's beautiful. ❤❤
From Scotland , this song is special. 3 days on loop. Well done. Awe the best of lucks! Watch out for the snakes and read small print. Tips hat.
Reminds me of my mom who is Hispanic and married my dad which was in the army and he left her as soon as he found out she was pregnant
😢So many women abandoned. What is wrong with men? I'm 80 now, have a Hispanic taxi driver who works his ass off to take care of his Family. It doesn't matter what race you are, inside is what matters. If your no good, your no good.
I’m sorry. You’re better off
@@aimeekubik8803I agree! If she is good to have sex with then she’s good to bring home. If not the don’t mess with her.
Living next to a base and having a father who served full term plus two years...it hits different. Great song.
So the mom met a man got pregnant tried to raise the kid and ended up leaving. The child grows up and has a child of her own but doesnt abandoned her instead raises her so she wouldnt be like her mom?
Yep. Break the cycle. No matter the cycle
Yes. Gave what she didn't have. A self explanatory song.
Yep written about Abby's Nana and Mama
Nailed it 🔨 ❤
Breaking the cycle. It's what's supposed to happen but nit always does.
So hauntingly beautiful ❤
As a foster kid this song resonates with me it gave me chills
This song is a masterpiece
I loveeee this song 😍
Reminds me of my childhood, I love it ❤
Ep , tx❤

I've been on my own since I was 16 but I'm a guy. No regrets and I've had a damned good life except for my wild teens, always in trouble until i met my wife
Imma write a story to this
I am the baby she left behind 24 years ago and I will love my babies more than I was.
I think she wrote this song for her Mom.
A beautiful tragedy.
I love this song but after a minute I get confused. Did the abbys mom give Abby up for adoption? Or did she take Abby with her?
Kept her first but left after a couple years
This is about her grandmother and her mom. She's the last baby mentioned in the song
Is somebody willing to drop the strumming pattern?
I would love the guitar chords!
this reminds me of when god made you my mother
I sound like her
Karaoke now lol
Words are too slow
Thats a god dam lie
