Hi Chuck and Paige, i am a member and a subscriber recently retired coming up on 2 years now. I was a Construction Supt for a large construction company in the SF Bay Area and the best thing i ever bought was a HP office jet 100 mobile printer that was rechargeable and Bluetooth from my mobile phone and didn't even get out of my truck. I live near Kuchinarai and understand the simple idea of having to go somewhere to make copies to bring back and visualize your patience. Like you i was a problem solver and ate stress for breakfast but that is all gone now and hope to just buy you guys a simple beer someday. I really enjoy your videos and mindset! Rock on.
After 30 years in Thailand and too many bad experiences with immigration. I now use an agent. I am lucky I can, for a small amount of money I have a stress free annual renewal. Congratulations on getting your renewal sorted.
Many vehicles here seem to have no heater. My old Honda CRV has a heater - I am very thankful for that especially when we go up into the hills in the cold season
Ur mum is doing great in thiland u r the 2nd blogger to say it’s cold 🥶 there I find it hard to believe Ithanks for the great song 🎶 it’s a long time since I heard it😊brought me back to my younger day’s 😊
Wow! Your mom’s yard is looking great. Maybe that will help with unwanted pests. I’ve only had one experience with immigration in Thailand, it was for a 30 extension and I did it in Kanchanaburi, it took 15 minutes complete. Thanks for sharing 🍻
Hi Chuck, I'm glad to see you got your extension for another year. Here in Chonburi immigration they seem to make it as complicated as possible so that you will use an agent. Either way, it's a small price to pay to live in paradise.
Chuck the run around problems and poor customer service I've had with BKK Bank is why I'm bailing out of there! It's ridiculous in this day and age of computers to to business like they did in the 1960's!
I have been retired in Thailand for 2.5 years. It is largely good but my favorite saying applies "nothing works in Thailand - everything always goes wrong". The incompetence is stunning.
Udon seems to be an easier renewal process since they moved to the permanent office near police station, although Ive seen some 'customers' becoming quite irate because they're not prepared. Pretty friendly staff in there. I usually go in couple days prior and get the 'what you need' pamphlet . Then go in with everything needed in duplicate.- never been kicked back. I do the monthly transfer, not the parked 800K. 30 days before visa extension expires. Been doing the 90 day check online for two years.
I know that in Thailand different provinces can have differing interpretations of the rules However the basics are the same. I am married to a Thai national and go through the same paperwork as you do, one big exception is a marriage visa you only have to show 400,000 not 800,000. I use the BKK bank and have no problem getting a copy statement stamped by the bank (for a small fee) One problem is if you arrive too late at immigration you have to go get another bank statement as it’s only valid on the day it was given. To be true it’s not rocket science and my wife does it all and I just sit and ‘smile and wave’ But it’s Thailand so never expect consistency 😂 Good vlog as usual
I just did my new visa for Vietnam. We did it ourselves this time without an agent (for the first time). I changed from TRC to 5 years visa exemption. In a few months we're moving over to the states for a few years and are planning on doing the vanlife thing. We also want to spend some time with my parents while they're still young enough to do a lot of things and be active.
Hi Chuck and Paige I think so many people get themselves worked up about getting their yearly extension of stay , my first year I was nervous about whether I’d get it , the next 2 years have been easy once you know the routine and what to expect , I consider visa day as a day out , go for a nice lunch somewhere close to immigration ( korat area ) last time it took me 2 hours and that included their lunch hour , Still good to see the stamp in your passport though , regards Davy 🏴🇹🇭
Chuck my son is coming he’s 51. He’s met a girl from over there and they’ve been communicating for about a year now and he is planning on going to Thailand. He has about three grand. Would you see any so going to stay a couple of months I mean a couple of weeks evendo you think you’ll be safe with that amount?
No point in being apprehensive all you have to do is whatever they want whenever they want it and no problems. Been that way for over 20 years to my knowledge. Mums speedway track looks awesome for her. Bushyboy Oz.
I changed my visa to the new DTV visa …… admittedly you can not do it while in Thailand but the requirements and fuss is a lot less than even the retirement visa …. The requirements are less too ….. only need 100,000THB in any bank account (can be over seas or Thailand) ….. if it works out for you plan you me next trip back to the USA around the time your retirement visa is about to expire and get the DTV ….. the whole process only took me about 2 weeks now I am good to come and go as I please for 5 years
@ I did mine in the UK the cost stated on the embassy website site said 10,000THB but the uk thai embassy charged me £300 (12,600 THB - seems that the thai mafia work in the UK thai embassy ….555) very simple process
Congratulations on your temporary visa! Thailand is such an amazing and beautiful country but this yearly visa process can be stressful. Is there a way to get permanent residency in Thailand so you don’t have to this every year?
Can you get a marriage vise. It less money to keep in the bank I think it’s only 440,000 baht or 44,000 a month and you have to do everything you have to do with retirement visa. The type o

I didn't really have a problem as I showed in the video. Other than waiting for the bank statement. The whole immigration process was really about an hour I just went before lunch and the guy who signs it stepped out. Couple hours a year not that big of a deal to share my experience as I shown in the video.
I was told by Siam (the purple one) bank that they won't let a foreigner to have 2 bank accounts anymore. I am going to be at TLP tomorrow and I am going to ask about this. The bank said the law is about three months old. As usual maybe another bank will tell you something different but I tried Siam and the green one with no luck. I have my current account with Krunthai (the blue one). Getting an account without using TLP was a pain, nobody we tried wanted to give me an account.
Even though we do not chat directly, I do can relate all the never ending routine yearly and 90 days requirements. I do mine at Cheng wattana. Question to you, I read somewhere that I can process 45 days earlier for my yearly that's what I plan to do because my trip to USA will be in April 8th, is my multiple entry still good through the 29th even i decide not to avail the multiple entry for the next renewal? I'll just get re-entry as needed prior to any future travels 2025. Hope I made sense for my question. Thanks for any advise. Peace

Your wife still have a Thai passport. If you got you marriage license from the states you can go get a Thai marriage license gor 22 or something like that.
Interesting , you can't get a longer visa . Here in China a 3 year resident card is easy , ( married to a Chinese lady ) Bank statement , walk in the bank , slide your card in the debit ( Inside the bank ) It will print out a year of your bank statements , both my banks in China offer that AND , who in the hell would buy a vehicle with no heat , HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Life is a party , everyone is invited
I think the difference is it's China and not Thailand. Love to visit China not sure if I'd want to live there. We all have a reasons don't we. Thanks for leaving a comment
Do you live in Thailand if not how would you know, Chuck is only explaining the immigration process in Thailand, it's informative that he's giving his opinion on the process because it's a big decision for someone to move to Thailand especially if you are moving to an area which doesn't accept immigration experts to deal with the immigration process on your behalf. So it is a big deal in my opinion because I'm hoping to be retiring to Thailand in 4 years in April and it won't be in the crazy town Pattaya or the overrated Patong.
@notime2bsad I enjoyed it. I've learned most of the ins&outs of the process from visa websites and UA-cam "how tos," but visualizing actually doing it is better than knowing in abstract. Thanks.
For today's pointless observation....... 😂 ....... In the version of "A Horse With No Name" you used in this video, the singer says "I went through the desert WITH a horse with no name," rather than "ON a horse with no name." So I wonder...... Does the singer consider riding a horse to be cruel, so he goes WITH the horse, rather than ON it? 😂😂😂 Is a horse to this man just like another big ol' dog he goes traipsing through the desert with? 😂 Heh heh, as I said....... pointless. But still a little funny, I think, that he changed the word from "on" to "with!" Cheers!

Buy, for your mom, one of those door nets with the magnets down the middle. It stops mosquitos and would make her life easier.

I will be doing my eleventh extension this April in Chon Buri. The last ten have been pretty much straight forward.
Ten years ago..2014 I briefly lived near That Phanom.....a hamlet near Na Gae...... One of the reasons I left Thailand was the hassle of immigration.

It is comforting to know a country monitors who comes and goes. Many of stay here in Thailand. Its not hard, nor have I heard rejection stories.
If it was easy here it would be china.
@notime2bsad its easy and I'm proof.
Doesn't Thailand have a 5 Yr retirement visa for age 50 and older?

Hello Chuck, Paige and Cara. Thank you for the continued knowledge and virtual ride along.
Thank you, enjoy the ride!
At least on an elite visa I don’t need a re-entry permit. But you want to go somewhere you can apply at the airport right.
Mom looks so happy

Funny thought. Buying puzzles at thrift stores may be missing pieces.😅

Why not look at getting Permanent residence status? No more need for 90 day or yearly renewal. Also, no need to maintain 800000 baht in the bank.

You can apply for permanent resident in Thailand after 3 full years visa in Thailand. Som namna.
Correct with a work permit or a marriage visa.
@notime2bsad married or not married is only a financial difference. You have to pay more. Tats it. But you have to stay in Thailand for 3 years without break, and you need 1 years visums.

@notime2bsad and , if you are hard enough, you can apply for citizenship after 5 years. But this is real hard. We are both to old.

Cuz I choose to be on a retirement Visa you can't get a permanent resident unless you're on a work permit or a marriage visa.
Why can't you get Thai permanent residency ? You are married to a Thai woman.

Nongkhai Immigration is very good and helpful, and some speak English. I use Kasikornbank very easily and usefully for my Retirement visa.
Thia people must love 📑 I noticed this while I was there 😊
