actually no they were low on battery in tcw the droids were commical relief that would fall and scream but actually sometimes performed good in rebels stormtroopers are made out to be tough well trained troops yet have the worst shots ever
In the expanded universe, they did just that. The Rebels often reprogrammed droids from the clone wars era. Super battle droids and Droidekas were among some of the units to serve the rebels against the empire.
The standard B1s wouldn't make that much of a difference no but I do love those guys such fun personalities. The super battle droids and droideka's and commando droids however would make a difference a big difference. And that is actually what the rebellion did quite often they would reprogram those droids to fight with them.
actually, the general was right in his comment that the droid army would of won. if not for sidious playing both sides, and having vader gut the separatist leadership + shut down the droid army, the empire would of been smashed before they had a chance. The problem was that with most of the leadership to the separatist killed and the units shut down the remaining hold outs had no way of rallying. most of their army was deactivated, and only a few had the means to reactivate their local units. This left a large portion of their fleet which was manned entirely by droids just dead in space giving them no real way to counter the rapid expansion of the empire, so many of them decided to just reunit with the empire. In Legends/old EU many hold outs did join the rebellion or the rebellion did find and reprogram then reactivate the old droid armies to help fight the empire. I believe this would still be the case in cannon it's just been 15 years by this point so most of those holdouts are either crushed or are like the one we saw here, without resupply or any means of producing new parts leading to a slowly depleting army simply because they have to scrap droids to maintain droids. I do believe that it wouldn't be that hard to make a rebel unit that was actually practiced in hunting down old clone wars tech and taking it stashing it away for when the rebellion made big moves and would have more gear for the post death star use + death star destruction that in cannon was the 1 2 combo that caused the galactic civil war instead of prevented it.
What a way to end a conflict. This was the day the clone war was ended by a teenager thinking outside the box. To the best of my knowledge, not one single planet or species in the galactic senate bother to make ANY effort to do that.
Galactic Battlegrounds with random factions and the ability to ally up in a nutshell, only they take it a step further in that you can get loads of Jedi and Sith fighting together against other Jedi and Sith. I wish that game got the same treatment as Age of Empires II, 'cause honestly Galactic Battlegrounds is that game with way more to it.
Ahhh yes the battle of geonosis was far worse than umbara. Do you know how many clone commandos died? How many Jedi died? Umbara was more dark but definitely not worse casualty wise
I can't tell you how happy I was to hear the clone wars theme song at the end :) really nice touch and it shows that the show runners care about their fans
Just imagine if, they restarted several factories building droids, reprogramed them, and used them in battle Not just B2 and B1, but commando, droideka and Super tactical droids
Well, it's like Kanan said, the droids are well outdated. So the expectations of them having them fight wouldnt be as satisfying because they're so old, but yeah that wouldve been interesting to see.
A lot of the droids were probably dismantled at the end of the clone wars. They all just stopped at once during battle with the clones so the clones were probably “well not going to look a gift horse in the mouth” and just shot them all up. The only droids remaining would be the few that individuals like that kid on Iego managed to scoop up before they were destroyed or droids like these that just got stranded somewhere.
So happy they included this whole episode. And even The Clone Wars theme at the end of the episode. It was a sweet and amazing episode. Good job Filoni Also F’s in the chat for that one droid who fell off the ship
So there was probably two pilot droids, the tactical droids, and the five droid troops in the back. (Maybe more it's what I counted) so in total ~8 droids of the CIS survived the "end" of the clone Wars. And only 3 actively participating clones of the "Grand army of the Republic" survived. In total I was so overjoyed for an episode where the battle droids were good guys. Good episode.
One of the things I love about this are those two droideka that rolled up an a walker, those cannons on them still pack a punch of they were able to do damage to a walker and stun it for a bit
Well, Ezra pointed something very logic on this episode: at one point, he reasoned that neither the Republic or the Separatists won the Clone Wars since the clones were discharged, the Jedis were bring to the edge of extinction and the droids were deactivated, so he concludes that the real winner of the Clone Wars was the Empire. Also, he makes the droids reason that they were still at war with the Empire, since they were programmed to fight against the tyranny of the Republic and now the Republic had become the Empire, so they were on the same side than the clones for this time. By the end of the episode, Rex congratulates Ezra for accomplishing something that even a galaxy of Jedi knights and senators couldn't: put an end to the Clone Wars.
That end title font made me so happy honestly. I think that’s what was great about this episode, Rex and some other character are relics of the clone wars in the eyes of the rebels. In the same way those who watched clone wars before it was on Disney and are like Rex and the droids while those only starting are like the rebels learning about the past.
The reason why this is probably one of if not my favorite episode in the entirety of Star Wars Rebels is because of the fact that this is the only episode that ends with the Star Wars the Clone Wars intro
Not just them. The Battledroids won that fight, too. Both sides won when they fought against the Empire and were able to find the middle ground. That is when the Clone Wars finally ended, with a victory for both sides.
To all those who are curious, I actually met General Kalani's voice actor (Greg Berger) at TFcon earlier this year. I asked him if Kalani would ever return. He said that Lucasfilm hasn't said anything about that. So as of now, it is unknown if he'll ever come back.
Surprisingly, the Droid Army at full height outnumbered the Imperial Army more than the Republic. By the rise of the Galactic Empire, the CIS had somewhere near a quintillion droids while the Empire at full had only a trillion most of which were just local authority. The droids would easily outnumber stormtroopers and could spam numerous divisions far quicker than stormtroopers could. The problem is, droids dont really have good logistics and would definitely be outsmarted by the empire quickly. Not to mention the galactic navy. But overall, if the droids could mass-produce once more, they could start a rebellion on a planet quickly, the empire can bomb their planet but theyll just produce more factories. It'll be an infinite number of droid revolts that would strain the economy of the empire.
naah, the CIS could win the war, but they were held back hard by Dooku and Palpatine.. And as the Republic had far superrior army (and I don't mean numbers, I mean quality and qualification, not to mention that every battalion was led by a space wizard that alone worth a thousand batte droid) and they still would not have been able to defeat the CIS then the empire doesn't stand a chance either The empire was corrupt and lacked the smart, competent leaders, (not to mention the army, that was not ready for a war) that is literally why the much smaller and less organized rebel alliance could defeat them
Kind of the best part of rebels in my opinion, really deconstructed what it was meant to be a Jedi or someone who is trying to make morally good decisions even if they seem bad. Or if they end bad, it’s a learning experience and reflection, same thing came from Avatar the last Airbender with Ang being the only airbender as avatar. And in this show the Jedi order gone, relics of the past exist still. And Kanin and Ezra being Jedi but either too young or past the order. And so in trying to be Jedi they basically find common ground or even old methods of the Jedi code long since unused since the old republic. It’s really cool to see and analyze
Fulcrum Fan Edits 45.5K subscribers I often wondered what exactly happened to Super Tactical Droid General Kalani and his remaining troops after they parts ways with the Ghost Crew, and where did he and his droids go? james villa The Force Unleashed II game had droids that resembled the mask Grievous had greatly. Perhaps they'll canonize those droids one day. Unlikely I'd assume, though.
Sometimes I like to imagine what Kalani joining Phoenix cell or the overall rebellion could have looked like. I imagine Kalani being a very behind the scenes tactical/strategic advisor. Crunching numbers and calculating imperial responses. However at the same time after rewatching the Clone Wars, it’s hard not to see Kalani being called out about Onderon, especially by Saw Guerra who was tortured by the droid and sounded a lot like the empire when doing so. He’d likely upon realizing rebel command had the same tactical droid who commanded the droid garrison that killed his sister, would want Kalani’s head. Tbh that sounds like a great story actually..

In essence the Clone Wars was basically like one of those miniature battlefields with the plastic soldiers, and Palpatine was the person moving the plastic soldiers around (since he created both armies the clones and the droids) just so that he could make the galaxy his empire
This kind of reminds me of the real life battle of Castle Itter at the end of World War Two. Americans, German army soldiers, an SS officer, and political prisoners united to fight an SS battalion.
You know all the droids could travel to geonosis and find old destroyed factories and take whatever is from them and the droidekas we saw blasting the sheild that time could help them which could be a huge asset as they were a pain in the ass to the clones
Personally I would have liked kalani to be a recurring character, one that tries to rebuild the droid army and navy from the ground up but only manages to control one star system. But as a result, it gives the rebuilt cis a chance to become a thorn in the first order's backside. (Admit it, you would also want to see a full blown droid army vs first order fight)

I bet the Empire was quite surprised they lost even a single walker to outdated, rusty droids.
Its weird seeing droids duck for cover
Personally I would have liked kalani to be a recurring character, one that tries to rebuild the droid army and navy from the ground up but only manages to control one star system.
But as a result, it gives the rebuilt cis a chance to become a thorn in the first order's backside.
(Admit it, you would also want to see a full blown droid army vs first order fight)
Best episode of the series.
