Auntie Debbie was my quilt teacher at the Bishop Museum. I went to her home while she designed and cut out my quilt. She gave me the okay to teacher using her patterns, after I moved back to the mainland. I would pay her $5 every time I used one. The quilt I made was a queen size “Hanging Heliconia”. She went out into her arm and cut from her plant, brought it inand laid it on my fabric

When you are basing .. it is right on the drawn line?
Actually, I just stiched down the center of the thin leaves and about a half an inch from the edges of the thicker leaves.
Is that Debra Kakalia pattern?
Actually, it's a pattern from the book "Hawaiian Quilting" by Elizabeth Root that I modified a bit to simplify it.
