The Splatoon 3 Nintendo Direct Was AWESOME!

- This morning, a new Nintendo Direct aired for Splatoon 3. This was a very in-depth Direct that explained the various new and returning content, features and customization options that will be included in the game at launch. It looks like it will be a big step up from the previous games. The new idol squad, Deep Cut was revealed (Frye, Shiver and Big Man). Unsurprisingly they have some controversy.

This was one of the best directs ive ever seen, and ive been watching them for the past 8 years now. Right as I expected them to stop talking about the new features, they just kept on going with so many new details about the game, customisation, etc. This should be the gold standard for multiplayer game sequels, refining and adding to it immensely without taking away what made the original great in the first place. The direct announcer was great too, usually the nintendo direct announcers cringe me when they try talking in a "cutesy" or "fun" way, but this announcer was really good.
I think the only time I cringed at the announcer was when she said "THE BIG WAVE IS COMMING" at the end of the salmon run section
@@BoulderWraith same but I’m also like ok it’s for the kids probably 🗿
Just like how I picked whatever side Marina was on for Splatoon 2's Spalt Fests, I will be siding with whatever Big Man goes for here!
If I had to guess, the paid dlc will be single player content, with the most given to multiplayer being a few gear items.
I was actually surprised at how many requests they fulfilled. The only major L I’d say is stage rotations looking unchanged. Other than that this looks like a solid upgrade at launch. For some people anything less than the BOTW treatment should be DLC, but haters gonna hate I guess.
Agreed. I'm sick of that old system. Let me play what I want to play at any time!
And also, add Turf War to Ranked mode! (or Anarchy in this case)
The large scale paid dlc is probably gonna be another story expansion like before
They say “paid” dlc, but like… whatever the DLC is will probably be added to NSO expansion pack right? Didn’t they do that with Splatoon 2?
Yeah when 3 was announced and that took along ass time for it to even be on expansion pack
should i get the game? i’ve never played splatoon before
I really enjoyed Spatoon 2, that’s all I can say.
If you're into multiplayer competitive games splatoon is a blast! Really addictive and just fun to play Give it a try bro
yes for sure. it's such a unique game and is definitely worth a try
BIG MAN IS AWESOME
I never cared for Rank. I care for the presentation and the story and the things you can do. Splatfest I really love too. I don't care for Rank x and league battles especially if my teammates don't even play or throw games on purpose
When Splatoon first DLC came out I was looking on UA-cam to see what was going on with the DLC you was fighting the same bosses that's not how you do DLC hopefully with Splatoon 3 when they do bring out DLC they do a better not fighting the same damn bosses all over again that's not how you do DLC it's supposed to be different bosses not the same bosses from the base game
Um, there's no rules on how to do dlc. Nintendo planned to make a great dlc, and they succeeded, and that's good enough.
Nothing they showed in the direct that couldn't be add for 2 as an update. Literally nothing
I don't like how they're taking the Overwatch 2 approach with this game
Nintendo don't know how to do DLC they are bad at it how do you work for your DLC stuff I don't get it
Yeah because smash dlc was so god awful they add 3rd party’s that you wouldn’t believe it was real
Yeah how dare Nintendo punish people by making them sit down and play their games? It's not like we wanna have fun with them or anything 🤷♂️
@@Yoshizuyuner I hate Smash Brothers but didn't come people complain I forget it was about something it was about a sword character LOL
@@SubSilence if you pay for your DLC why do you have to work to give it that's a sad excuse
@@SubSilence if I pay for something I expect to have it in my inventory
If I had to guess as to why Splatoon 2 didn’t have that much at launch, it’s probably because of how soon it came out after Splatoon 1, being only 2 years, and Splatoon 1 was getting post launch updates so they weren’t as focused on Splatoon 2. But with Splatoon 3 they’ve had like 3-4 years to make a sequel after Splatoon 2’s Octo Expansion, hence the stronger launch
Thats definitely the case. Nintendo wanted their new IP on their new console ASAP so they rushed it out. Its obvious they were able to take their time and build upon the previous game this time.
@@kickitsmooth yeah. I mean 2 years after the 1st game that was also getting post launch updates is a very short gap with development. They clearly had a lot more time this time around with Splatoon 3
Yeah the failure of the Wii U didn't do Splatoon 1 any favors.
@@Kingdom850 maybe they wanted to strike when the iron was hot and make sure Splatoon 2 was a success right out of the gate
Those new idols have some strong inbred vibes
This was a perfect direct. It kept going, and when I thought they were close to done they said they had even more to share. I would have been satisfied at the 20 minute mark. That’s a great direct
I think the paid DLC will be another Octo Expansion like DLC. You can clearly see Pearl and Marina, so maybe an Octo Expansion 2
I like how Frye is a literal goblin lmao
Definitely... Unique
@@ChiGuyGaming Yeah. Also isn’t it very weird that I just now have any possibility to get into this series? Like I’ve had interest but never really could since I didn’t have a Wii U or a switch (I do now but it doesn’t work at the moment because of me being clumsy) :(
@@ChiGuyGaming Inbred vibes
It might be different when the game is actually out, but it seems like the jump is bigger from splatoon 2 to splatoon 3 compared to the jump from splatoon 1 to splatoon 2. That's a plus in my book.
I'll keep saying this, 2 was a port, 3 is a true sequel.
How it doesn’t even have a new mode
@@JsYTA that’s such an awful take
@@sideeswipe I don’t want clam blitz again they need to make new modes not in the ranked queue
@@sideeswipe the triple ink splat fests is a new mode.
Judging by the silloutettes
Its very likely another story campaign introducing a new race to play as
(Like octo expansion)
They’re really teasing that humans aren’t extinct, that they went to space.
@@see.eye.2361 they look like crabs
I'd rather that paid DLC be paid and let the smaller stuff be free like they planned. I find this to be better than microtransactions. Because with upfront pay, you're guaranteed or at least heavily promised high quality content and with it being upfront, you only need to pay once and never again.
As for the idols. I think the reception upon first looking at them clearly shows our inability as a human race to judge fairly. I think like Off The Hook, these new idols will grow on us. I'm already a fan of Shiver. I think she's attractive, chill, and I feel like I could vibe with her no prob. Frye seems like the energetic type kinda, and looks aren't everything but even I'll admit she's a bit jarring at first. Big Man I figured would be an easy fan favorite because of the name and how adorable he looks.
Shiver is Chinese , Frye is Indian and Big Man is just Cool
I think when they said large-scale paid DLC, it'll probably be something like Splatoon 2's Octo Expansion DLC, at least I'd hope.
I love Frye's design, just how I loved Pearl's design on last one.
Xenoblade 3, Kirby and the forgotten land and now splatoon 3 are marking a Nintendo renaissance
I actually like shivers. I like her traditional Japanese design. But yeah big man might be my favorite of the 3
Dunno, I dont play Splatoon, but sure... um... great?
well now's the perfect time to start
When this is more real content and new feature than a certain halo game that was overhyped only to lack alot of any that it's previous predecessor has.
While Splatoon is fair both campaign and multiplayer every sequel.
The paid dlc probably lean more on single player with bonus exclusive stuff for multiplayer but not heavily affect the multiplayer but who knows
I just don’t know if it’s worth buying Splatoon 3 when I already paid €60 voor 2.
unpopular opinion but I love love love Frye to bits.🤭 Giant forehead? More room for kisses. Massive knowledge, the megamind of this that goblin. I'm also always up for that east asian rep we love to see it (and hear it! Anarchy Rainbow goes hard cause of it)
Shiver's okay. I'm not insane for her. We already had japanese food before 💀 She's aight.
Now... Big Man. If it wasn't for Big Man just being there I would've picked Frye. I wish for enteral happiness for him and will protect that smile. He's the male idol I didn't ask for but I am damn well happy we got him. 😭
You know, I appreciate all the cool features they're putting in this game, but... Doesn't it... Just... Look kinda ugly? Bland? Underdesigned?
I dont get the worry about the DLC, have people forgotten about the Octo Expansion for Splatoon 2?
Its most likely going to be like that
I wasnt hooked on splatoon at all and was waiting for BOTW 2, and now ive been hooked
Thats how you know the direct is good
Fr i was like Splatoon is boring, its decent and now i want it, but know ill spend like a week on it and then switch back to BOTW
Personally I was pretty apathetic towards these announcements . I played a lot of splatoon 2 and pretty much every thing here is just like a different version of what was there with minor differences I and many other people were hoping for more new and substantial game modes to actually get excited, the way salmon run did for 2. I don’t get why they wouldn’t keep the splatoon 2 stage roster and just add to it. I’m still going to buy it and have a lot of fun with it but mainly I’m not seeing enough new content to justify cutting out content from splatoon 2. 80 percent of this direct was outlining the rebooted aspects that we all expected anyways (new music group, splatfests, new specials, etc)
Already had the game preorderd happy I did after watching
Some people are still calling splatoon 3 splatoon 2 deluxe
Yeah the Mario Kart DLC the second pack seems like they're getting better at doing DLC it seems like it
I remember when we thought Pearl was ugly.... How could we fall so far
Why do the graphics look so bad tho
Shivers is alright.
I don’t know to me it seems more like splatoon 2 and the fact their still limiting battle modes and salmon run to rotation just sucks
You can play salmon run at any time now
Have yuo wachetd it
Be my first splatoon any tips ?
don't turn off the motion controls. if you learn them you'll have such a better time with the game
Honestly I was hyped for Splatoon 3 but now I realize that it may be too late for me to join since I’ve never played Splatoon in my life. It would be difficult for me to join now. I honestly don’t know why I was hyped for this game.
Honestly you should get Splatoon 2 for a better price than 3
@@Shmeve0 I don’t really plan that
splatoon is an easy game to get into and there will be people like yoy who are also new
@@stemszz7658 Well I don’t know. I’ve never really been good at shooting games and with Splatoon I fear that it’ll take me way too long for me to get decent at the game since from what I’ve seen I fear that encounter extremely skilled players at my first match if you know what I mean.
@@stemszz7658 Plus there will always be literal children playing it, a semi-competent adult will always be able to do at least OK.
I think all previous weapon types and 12 maps being available at launch is plenty, considering the amount of stuff splatoon games tend to get after launch. My main gripe with the game is that I'm a bit sad to see the updates chages to every 3 months with a bunch of stuff dropping, I really enjoyed the splatoon 2 approach of a new weapon every week and a new map every month. But its a minor complaint when the game is looking this good.
Don't worry about looking bad in your gameplay, we all remember the halo infinite multiplayer videos where you were just teabagging everyone lol
I don't even like breath for the while but the first DLC you have to get to a certain Temple to get your DLC stuff that's not how you do DLC why do you have to work to get your DLC stuff that's not how you do DLC items if you download the DLC items you got them at the start of the game
Spoken like a voice dictation 🤌
@@Shmeve0 yep and I'm a keep on speaking it
Um, again, there's no rules for how dlcs should work.
Mostly, dlc, like the one you mentioned, is to have the player get acclimated and comfortable to the base game before they introduce the dlc that the gamer bought.
My concern about Splatoon 3 if when they come out with DLC you don't fight the same bosses over again in DLC none of Xbox games when you get DLC you don't fight the same guys over again that's what they did in Splatoon 2 I don't play on playstation but I'm pretty sure it's the same thing
The triple splatfests are cool thinking of other Nintendo crossover splatfests they could do. Like when Pokémon releases they could do a splatfest based on the three starters, and when Breath of the wild two releases they could do a splatfest based on the triforce, with the teams being courage, power, and wisdom
I haven't been this hyped up for a game for a long long time!
How do you bring base game enemies over to the DLC LOL
I like shiver but not frye
The feature that made it a must buy for me was the dabbing.
Lol
I dont share the excitement. I was hoping for some more interesting modes.
I wish I could be excited for this game, but this still did nothing for me. And even though I'm probably in the minority here, I stand by it. I already didn't get into the first two games, even with the first game bundled with my Wii U, so this is coming from an outsider's perspective. But as someone who's already not hugely into PvP games, still not knowing much about how the campaign is going to work just doesn't excite me. I loved Salmon Run, but it not being available 24/7 really hurt it for me. If they change that and do a full Octo-style campaign, I might end up getting it later.
Don't let me take away your excitement, though. The game does look really solid, and I'm sure fans are going to love it. But I still personally struggle to see why this wasn't saved for the next system.
Amen I love splatoon though but it did nothing for me too cause I own splatoon 2 and stopped playing it cause I got bored of the stupid content rollout approach cause I got it when it came out and cause I’m not gonna shell out 20 bucks for crappy online. Wish more people would call this game out for doing the unfinished game approach and honestly pioneering it for Nintendo cause before splatoon 1 they didn’t do this shit
Ok now it's starting to feel like Splatoon 2.9!
I’m confused why everyone is gushing over the direct it was fine I guess, didn’t show anything that made me think it’s not splatoon 2.5
I think it was Nintendo life people had to look up on how to get their DLC items from breath of the Wild🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ that's not how you do DLC if you got to look up a UA-cam video something's wrong
Was anybody ever turned off by Marina's design? I don't recall that happening.
I will not be purchasing, literally because of the new idols. If they were cuter, I would probably cave and buy it
It looks the same as splatoon did in 2015, there really hasn't been a good hook set here imo. Splatoon 2 was a barebones sequel with the same pros and cons of the first game, and this is that yet again, but this time it's not on a new system, so there's less of a point to bother with, crazy they're still keeping the awful time limits to the gamemodes.
I would love to play this. Too bad I stopped supporting Nintendo due to shitty treatment towards fans and rushing games now.
Um, it only seems like spinoffs are a little rushed. And even then, those spinoffs are still solid. However, you can't say the same with their main games. For example, this year was Kirby And The Forgotten Land, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3, are worth way more than their price.
Two golden rules when it comes down to DLC you don't put the same bosses from the base game one Golden Rule you shouldn't have to make a UA-cam video on how to get your DLC items talking about breath of the wild that's another Golden Rule
Not to give you a hard time, but those aren't "golden rules", but more of YOUR expectations and YOUR desires about dlcs. I get that some dlcs did not meet your expectations, but that doesn't mean that MANY others shared your frustrations with them, since many felt that it had met their expectations, and even surpassed their expectations.
@@stripedrajang3571 not trying to give you a hard time but that's Nintendo's expectations any other game the DLCs is dropped right into your inventory
@@stripedrajang3571 Nintendo games is the only one I noticed you have to work to get your DLC items

Well good news on that front, Nintendo always keeps their games at $60, so you can wait the year or two before you feel the price is justified! (Note: I hate Nintendo for this)
3:54
I would very much like them to support this game for as long as possible. Perhaps to the same extent Bungie has been doing for Destiny 2.

I feel that's a Nintendo issue in general. It's no secret they are far behind everyone else (even Indies) when it comes to online.
