G'day Bonnie Julien 👋🏻🏖️ Hehe, when I set up these shell at the home beach, I actually had one little girl come up to me and say "how did you make that!?" which I thought was funny and adorable ❤️ I think I said something like: I just stick 'em in the sand 🤣 her family was nice to talk to, too. Thank you so much for your kind words; the final shell displays take a bit of time and effort, but I really do feel like it's worth it. Of course, thank you again for watching such a big adventure 🥰

G'day Hurriyet 👋🏻🏖️ The Wentletraps are particularly interesting at this beach, aren't they?? Arabic, Philippine, Precious, and more, I think I've found 6 or 7 different species of Wentletraps here!! There is certainly lots to love ❤️ Thank you so much for watching the big adventure 🥰

    High Maddie 👋
Beautiful rich findings once more 🤩 many gorgeous shells, nice wentletrap Amaea arabica, burnt-edge rock shell Thais ambustulata ( my first time to see such shell ) beautiful sample of the prickly rock shell, Mancinella echinata. Very gorgeous ambient, you can expect surprises 🤩 thank you for the beautiful moments 😍❤️❤️❤️ Francesco

      @ShellingAdventures  4 місяці тому +1

G'day Francesco 👋🏻💖 Oh yes, this beach is usually quite plentiful with different kinds of shells...it's has a lot of the same shells, but there are still the odd rare ones to come across! This beach is great for those Amaea arabica wentletaps...I still haven't found one with a perfect tip, but I will find a gem one someday! The Burnt-edge Rock Shell is interesting; the name is an English translation of Thais ambustulata because it otherwise didn't have an English name. These shells are supposedly much more common to the south in an Australian state called New South Wales. I can find Thais ambustulata at my home beach too, and the edged are black instead of red. They aren't very common in Queensland, though. Oh, I forgot that I found a Mancinella echinata in this one; my only whole/intact find of this species...not common, but I have found fragments at my home beach for this shell species as well. Drupe shells are just wonderful with their bumps and textures! As always Francesco, thank you so much for watching these big shelling adventures 🥰

Hi Maddie~~it's so hard to pick favorites from your shell hauls but I do love that pretty heart-shaped hinged Orange Cockle and those gorgeous scallop shells really stand-out! Arcs are another favorite of mine and they were plentiful on this adventure. Also,, I found the color-banding on all of the land snails very pretty. Thanks for another fun day at the beach. 🥰🥰🥰🥰

G'day Sunny Belisle 👋🏻🏖️ It's tough to round it down to one shell when they are so many in on trip!! That hinged Orange Cockle is a lovely choice; it really is a beautiful bivalves!! Oh gosh, the Indo-Pacific Arc Shells were lovely and plentiful; I got a few joined ones in the last video too. Oh wow, and the beautiful land snails get a mention too 🐌❤️ they certainly deserve it on a day like this!! Thank you so much for watching the big adventure 🥰

I’m hard pressed to pick a favorite!!! 😬 A really spectacular selection of land snails. 🐌🐌🐌 Love love love the ark shells and balers!!! G'day Pam 👋🏻💖 The Short-spined Murexes are really cool; they remind me of the Cabrit's Murex, but not quite as beautiful and delicate. Hehe, it's so hard to choose a favourite on a day like this; the Wentletraps and Land Snails were just wonderful 🐌🐚❤️ but alas, that Zebra Volute is just spectacular, isn't it!! I had an absolute blast this time, thank you so much for watching the big adventure 🥰

Oh my goodness! Good morning Maddie, our favorite Wentletrap witch 😂. Boy did you have an awesome day shelling. So many awesome shells. I'm really loving the land snails. That beautiful volute shell, was awesome color. Those rock shells. I don't even know how to choose a favorite. I suppose I'll go with Arabic wentletrap. What a cool shell. Beautiful color on those gorgeous scallops. What huge telescope mud snails. Those precious little violet nerites. Thank you so much Maddie for taking us on that awesome shelling adventure.

It was a wonderful day with all of the land snails, scallops, drupes, and yes, that Zebra Volute too. So your favourite is maybe the Arabic Wentletraps!! I must admit, I grabbed up some extremely nice ones this time!! As always Roberta, thank you so much for watching 🥰 it was a big adventure, thanks for sticking with it!!

You're right, sitting at a shell pile really is the best kind of day 😍 although this time; the mosquitoes were trying to eat me alive!! That's the mangroves right before a big bout of rain, am I right? Thanks for watching the big adventure 🥰

Hi Maddie! 👋🏼 The Burnt Edge Rock Welk is my favorite 😍 Not surprised because it’s in the Drupe Clan 😃 The Short-Spined Murex gets second place 🥈 How beautiful and spiky 🤩 Third goes to the Zebra Volute. That was a really pretty shell and the colors are amazing 🤩! Shoutout to all the Biggendens, you found some really nice ones today. Great colors too. I think from now on I’m just calling out my favorites in no particular order. They’re all FANTASTIC 😂 Thanks again for taking us along!! TTFN 👋🏼 ❤

G'day Mimi 👋🏻💖 Oh wow, so the lovely Burnt-edge Rock Shell is the favourite this time!! Actually, did you know that all rock shells/drupes are in the murex family?? I don't really know why, but that's what the taxon information says when I look it up online! So, I can understand why the second favourite is a murex 😂 Woohoo, and the third goes to the Zebra Volute! Did you know that the word "volute" is supposedly from the Latin word for "scroll" I guess they do look like one! Hehe, I'm glad that you liked the land snails as well. As always Mimi, thank you so, so much for watching the huge adventure this time 🥰

Texas is such a large state, so if you're not on the coast, then it's quite a drive to get to the shells! I actually received shells from Texas last year, though some were also from Louisiana 🤔 i can't remember the names of the beaches where the shells came from anymore, but I do know that sometimes you'll find heaps, but then some days you won't find any at all 😅 Just crazy, but any shelling day is a good day! I hope you'll find some of the very best shells 🐚🐚🐚 and oohhh yes; Florida is the place with all of the shells, and the shellers there are amazing 🤩 but thank you for also checking out what I find over here in Australia 🦘 Thanks for watching 🥰

Never ceases to amaze me how many large amounts of super cool shells you find every single time you go out!, are those imperial venus clams? Im looking for those, we dont get them here, Love the Volute! so pretty, My shells seem boring next to yours, my giant lions paw and Carcharodon fossil both came in the mail today along with my giant puffy sea biscuit and super white and flawless large channel whelk, but I am VERY happy, ya......shells make me happy too, isnt that funny how they do that? G'day Robin 👋🏻💖 It's crazy how many shells are at this beach at Hervey Bay! I think it doesn't get picked over by shellers very often...plus, the environment/ecosystem seems very healthy here to support so many snails! No, no, we don't get Imperial Venuses here; those are Flinder's Venuses! I had the shell on-screen for a brief moment in the first half of the video. Oh wow, it sounds like you got some amazing shells sent to you recently!! The big Lion's Paws from the USA are just fabulous, and I will have to look up a Carcharodon fossil a little later! Wow, and I think I know the puffy sea biscuit you're talking about; those are just amazing. I think you really spoiled yourself!! As always Robin, thanks for watching the big adventure 🥰

@@ShellingAdventures The fossil is a very large sharks tooth, its square in shape, not angled and has serrations on both sides, its tan golden in color, never seen one like that before, I always see the black ones that are curved or long and skinny, this one has 2 side teeth much shorter right next to it that is part of the middle tooth, kinda like the back of our front tooth, its near 3 inches long❤

G'day Alison 👋🏻💖 of COURSE I sniffed it before taking it home, Alison!! I've been BURNED BY THE STANK too often not to! You're crazy if you think I'm going to put an oozing rotting not-alive snail into my backpack, geez, you're a savage for even thinking that I would! Hahaha!! Ok, back to being serious... As for your question regarding the Multi spined Cockle VS the Prickly Cockle: I think at one time, their scientific genuses might have been the same. They are, however, no longer the same due to how those scientist people like to super categorise the shells they describe! I do, however, believe that these two cockles are within the same overall family tree, so yes; related. I got a big carried away there, didn't I? As always, I'm so glad that you enjoyed the shells and liked the big end display! Thanks for watching 🥰

G'day Susan 👋🏻💖 I know, right!!?? I picked us several of those small Philippine Wentletraps off camera, as well as a nice off camera Arabic Wentletrap 😲 I think this time; I knew the video was long, and I didn't want to clutter it up with too many repeated shells? I do like to show a variety if I can, so if I collect and show a single species more than two or three times, I start to think that it's too much? I do load up on a few repeats at Hervey Bay usually...mostly because so many of the shells just look too good not to! In the end, I can't tell you how pleased I was with how this trip turned out!! The Zebra Volute is a particularly nice one too! Thank you so much for watching 🥰

    Wht a great adventure today,
The day for the mud snail 🐌🐌🐌
    So my fav today issss
    Biggenden Banded Snail 🎉
Their color and shape sooo eye-catching,
One question Maddie, they can grow bigger than tht?
Ah yeahhh, yesterday I went to the beach, I didn't find many shells 😢,and mostly they are broken 😢

G'day Nelly 👋🏻💖 Oh yes, it was a big day for the lovely Mud Whelks, Land Snails, Murexes, Balers and more!! The Biggenden Banded Snails are super cool with their extreme swirls!! As for their size, I think what you see here is their full size 🤔 but I am not an expert. If you want to see some of the largest land snails, then you might need to look for the muffin land snails (Ryssota ovum) from The Philippines...they are several times larger than my Biggenden Banded Snails!! Awww no Nelly, I'm sorry to hear that you didn't have much luck at the beach this weekend 😱 sometimes the tides won't bring many shells...but I'm really glad that you still managed to find some moon snails 🐌❤️ any big ones? G'day Crimson Lizard 👋🏻🦎 I looked at it again and still only noticed one moon snail, I think your eyes are much better than mine!! As for what kinds of moon snails those pink ones are, the one I did spot looks like an extremely faded Bladder Moon Snail. I must admit that I'm usually rather spoiled for choice at this beach: I'll typically ignore the moon snails that have lost their vibrant colours, and concentrate only on finding the best ones...what can I say, this beach's moon snails have made me a picky sheller 🤣!! G'day Pearl 👋🏻🏖️ I don't believe so, or at least, I cannot remember bleaching and a shell with the orange mangrove dis-colouration and thinking "wow, this is like a whole new shell" 🤔 but to he honest, I might not have paid enough attention to it 😅 I do have a bucket if shells waiting to be cleaned, so I will take note of lightly and heavily discoloured ones and run the experiment to get you a better answer for later 😉 but for now, I think the answer is no, bleach doesn't do much. Thanks for watching 🥰
