I just check my paddles because i have the same problem, and my paddles have the pins with corter pins and one side was missing the corter pins. i will be doing the bolts and nuts. thank you!
Good luck with your project. This seems to be a very sensitive subject in this group as the majority of people think that is normal. I fixed mine and the problem has never reoccurred. Good luck.
Old video, but didn't see any posts on 1025r bolt size and just to drill it for 7/16 size. I used 3/8 bolts 2.5 inches long and nylon nuts and seems to be working fine. Probably not needed but used grade 8 bolts.
Just an update to this! Well the 3/8 stopped working and it was off again. I drilled 7/16 holes today and put in 7/16 bolts 2.5inches long with a lock washer and nut. In sync again so far! So maybe doing the 3/8 doesn't work! Seems as thought the holes in that bar are 7/16 and the holes in the JD quick attach are 3/8 and must give it enough room to move and be off. Having 7/16 the whole way through makes sense to fix it!
Bill. Thanks so much. That will make a difference for me. I just learned to live with it and would have never guessed that it would be a simple fix. I never would have thought that changing the bolt on the rod would make such a difference either. Chris
Hello, my 2022 3025e with the 300msl loader is doing this. It only has 50 hrs on it. I've had bad luck with this loader though. One side moves about 4" before the other side gets going. Is it the rod holes that elongates or the pins that wear? I thought that i might have air in the system because one of my loader hoses came loose while using and spayed out fluid. They sent a repair guy out but he didn't do anything other then check the fluid.
Hello Kory, it’s so frustrating to me that John Deere and other viewers considered us to be a normal operation. I’m sorry I can’t tell you which piece is actually elongating. I can only report that it corrected the issue with my tractor. I also pin a comment from a person a while back who had very good luck following what I did in a video. Great video! We have the 1025R, 2032R, and 4052R and the bolt has been replaced by deer in the 2032R but it still gets sloppy fast... I'll be referring viewers to your video in an upcoming video that should launch in the next week or so...

My 1025r with 350 hours is almost three inches out of synch. When I bought it used four years ago it had 113 hours on it and was over an inch out of synch. The dealer told me not long after I bought it that it was normal. I thought at the time the timing rod holes didn't look round. Thanks for the fix.
This is not a fix for all machines, I tried it on my 1025R and no change, I am a hydraulic mechanic, and it is normal, if resistance is not the equal in the pivots ,cylinders or linkage this will occur,, hydraulic fluid flows to the path of least resistance ..

This video is excellent, right to the point. I can say for certain that it's also an issue on the 320R loader (3039R) right off the delivery truck! It's got pins, not bolts, holding the timing rod in place, and I can grab the rod and twist it bit back and forth a bit., and the carriers are out-of-sync by about 1/2 an inch or so. (I've read that it doesn't take much "slop" in the rod to translate to noticeable out-of-sync.) From what I've read on the forums, for some people the mis-timing gets gradually worse. Wonder if the "slop" causes the holes to get egged-out over time. Putting in the bolts and keeping it tight from the start seems like an excellent idea.

I have a Gen 1 2032 R. Drilled the 7/16 hole. It helped but not as much as I thought it would and it wasn’t a walk in the park to get things back together. I wouldn’t go larger than 7/16ths. There just isn’t a whole lotta casting to work with. Overall, for the price of the drill and two new pins, it was worth it.
Thank you very much for the info. I have a 3025D with the 300E loader and have the same exact issue. My timing rod actually broke and I replaced it but its doing the exact same as the original one. Nice to know there is a fix. My tractor is only two months old and has less than 45 hours on it and was told this is not covered under any warranty. That timing rod is 200.00 plus the new pins. I think I will be contacting john deere instead of talking to the local dealer here.
Hello Dane, the bolt hole elongated causing the nut and bolt to not hold the timing rod tight. I’m picky and didn’t want to accept this wear as normal. Hope this answers your question clearly.

Wow, something so simple yet totally overlooked. Great video. While you mention it should be covered under warranty, I can't see scheduling an appointment and being without my tractor for a day or so for something so simple to fix. Thanks for the heads up though, something I will definitely be taking care of ASAP.

@@billburkhart Recently had a KD model number 5400 loader installed on a John Deere tractor. I need to remove the bucket to install an attachment with spears for loading hay. The bracket between the bucket and the hydraulic rams is welded to the bucket. Hoping I can find the brackets for sale somewhere that will allow me to attach a hay spear attachment to the hydraulic rams.
I have been having an issue with the MMM, I’ve heard of others having the same problem. 2018 1025 non auto connect. No matter the height setting, when I lower the deck it stops on the Left side, and the right side continues to lower at least a 1/2 inch more. Nothing appears to be bent on the MMM. The MMM Frame on the tractor is not bent, I’ve disconnected the 3point, changed the lift arm under the foot board as I was told it wears out, luckily my dealer refunded me for that. have you any info on this problem
Morning Sam, I did not purchase a MMM, I purchased a 700 series just to cut grass. Sorry your having the issues you described, sorry but I don’t have any experience to share.
sounds like your deck is not adjusted properly side to side. It can be adjusted using the turnbuckles that are on each side of the lift bracket. Raise the low side and lower the high side a bit. You may have to play with it a bit with some trial and error until you get it dialed in and hanging level for the cut.
Hi Bill . Was common problem on the 200 CX loader that we had the 2720 Deere . Word too the wise owners with this type of Deere quick attach system . Do not use any cheap flimsy frame mounts on pallet fork attachments or front blade mounts etc . Always use a quality frame mount attachment . I have been down this road before and it ain’t a good outcome when twisting of the cheap frame starts 👍
I have no problem with this . If you hold the loader part vertically you drive to the bucket and they wil Aline themselves automatically. It is not a thing that needs to be changed. This is designed from the beginning like this so that if you drive to the bucket or whatever attachments you do not have to be 100% in line with it . So it doe’s have an absolute advantage as it is from the beginning.

Some people will tell you it’s normal but I won’t accept this as being normal. Maybe it’s common among the tractors but I have found it’s repairable. Thankya sir for showing this here video. The paddles on my John Deer 1025R are kinduh outtuh sink, but not real bad. Bout like whatchya showed in the video here. I'll have take out the cotter pins & their mount pins & replace them with 2 7/16s nuts & bolts. Im glad there is a fixable solution to this irritating problem. I'll have to try it! My 1st gen 2025R required a new timing rod because the holes were too elongated. Timing PIN is the correct terminology because that is its sole function, to synchronize the two paddles.
I have the same problem on my 1025R with the H120 loader. I purchased 7/16 th bolts and they do not fit, too large to put in as replacements for the pins. Went to Tractor Supply and sized the pins to fit in the bar. The only problem now is the bolt and nut are too close to the loader frame and will not permit tightening the hardware. You said what you did on the larger loader, what did you do on the H120?
Bill, I have just come across your video after researching the same issue I have with my 440R loader (John Deere 4066R tractor). I am having trouble with our dealer understanding what the issue is. We are in Australia and I don't think the dealers mechanics have dealt with this before. You said in the video that this problem was covered under warranty. I'm wondering if you could let me know which dealer you used and if possible the name of a person at the dealership that may understand this problem. If i could get these details, I will pass them on to my dealer and suggest that they contact your dealer so they can get the appropriate details for the fix. Thank you. Andrew.

Andrew, sorry for the delay. I can't access your link. It reads I need an invite. The dealer that fixed my tractor was Bodensteiner Impliment and the technician name is Waylon. They're in Dyersville Iowa. There isn't any technical bulliten, the technician did the repair based on his experence. Hope this helps. - Bill

GREAT video! Please add me to the list of people asking for the technical service bulletin. It's much easier going to a dealer armed with as much information as possible. The concern is hearing "that's a normal condition". Referring to the bulletin number would give us more confidence at the dealers. Thanks!

Thx for the tip. I've just started to see this issue with my 1025R at 85 hrs. I'll ask the dealer about this fix when I take the machine in for service.
I have noticed this but I’m not convinced that there isn’t something else at work, like miss matched pressure or flow between the cylinders which will put stress on the timing rod and the problem will show up again later. I don’t have a solution and I’m not an engineer but for now I’m not going to mess with mine. I’ll be interested to hear how the modification is working after several hours of use.
Hi Jim my repair was done last July I missed the opportunity to make a video then, so my friend Mark allowed me to videotape his machine to demonstrate the issue. With about 50 hours on the repair on now I haven’t had any reoccurrence of the issue. Respect your opinion.
This issues seems to strike a nerve with the groups I’m in. Some say it’s normal and others not. I’ve also heard of dealers saying there not doing any such repair. Good luck let me know how you make out. -Bill
@@billburkhart My dealership had no idea about this and says its normal. However, I disagree and don't like it. Here is my idea, I'm torn right now between a 7/16" clevis and a 7/16" bolt and nut. I'm leaning towards the clevis only because I feel like the nut is not serving any purpose other than keeping the bolt from falling out. By tightening it you are merely squeezing the protrusions on the bucket rather than squeezing and tightening the timing rod. Either way the fix looks like it worked out for you and I'll do the same.

Hello. Ask your dealer to look at the bulletin for the 180 loader..... if he can’t locate any information, let me know and I’ll contact my dealer for more detailed information
Happy Sunday Gerald, basically they chose the largest diameter bolt that would feel the elongated hole in fact I believe they may have drilled it out to accommodate a larger bolt. Hope this helps good luck
@@billburkhart Thanks for your swift reply. I got 7/16 bolts which are 1/16 inches larger diameter than the pins. They almost fit. I was going to drill it out but figured I’d ask before drilling thru the cast iron. My paddles are off by at least 3” from each other. My first thought was a bad cylinder. However with the bucket off I can lift the tractor with paddles. So my thought was if it extends enough to lift the front end the cylinder must be working ok. Now I’ll see if I have a 7/16 drill bit. Not pleased with Deere. I traded in my 1025r for a 2025 r. The 1025 couldn’t put chains on without first buying wheel spacers. I asked the dealer why do you sell chains knowing they won’t work. The first day I got the 2025 one cylinder for the backhoe had to be replaced, it would stay in the upright position. The first time I used the mower the front hanger broke. I had 2 new Holland tractors before the Deere a 1520 and the a tc30. Had them each about 10 years never anything broke or go wrong. Unfortunately New Holland compact is just to compact. Thanks again. FYI watch the Hyd. Hose for backhoe scoop. Every hydro hose on the hoe is covered with heavy fabric shield all except the one for the scoop. I was digging under a deck a rubbed a pin hole thru the hose. Another 12” of covering would have saved the hose. I replaced the hose $140, new hose has the protection fabric covering the entire hose.

Hi Fred. I belive you, I was lucky to have a dealer who thought outside of the box and was able to find a solution for me. Deer doesn't give a damn and has no intention of fixing this as it’s widely accepted as normal with most owners.

Nice tip, Bill. I own Massey(s) and haven't had this issue but will remember the sound advice. After reading comments below, it appears many viewers have been living with the uneven curling for quite a while. The unsynchronized arm curl seems it could put undue stress on one of the cylinders when curling the bucket with heavy loads. Is that possible? Appreciate the video. @@billburkhart Good question, Bill. Since I now reside in NC, warm and mild weather is appreciated but both wife and I prefer cooler fall months. We are not fearful of extremely cold weather but I'll admit, some days, the coldness affects my joints. Not sure if that's results of years in Uncle Sam's finest for 28.5 years or if it's just old age (both, I guess). I'm only 68 and having gone through a stroke, all kinds of things have changed and have clearly gotten my direct attention. Be well, Bill. 🙂

Good Morning I do not have the number your asking for, my dealer told me it was under issues with the 180 loader. Hoping someone comes up with a number for all of us.
Dwayne some dealers know about it and others do not . If you make reference to that technician bulletin it may lead your dealer to the right place. My dealer did it at no charge and under warranty
Hello Sam. Some drilling is required, I believe I mentioned in the video that my dealer went up to a larger size and was able to take the slop out of that timing rod you may want to revisit that video. Good luck with the repair.

Mike remove the pins and see how elongated the holes are. You may have to drill the hole out so you can install a snug bolt and nut. Good luck keep me posted on the outcome

@@billburkhart Recently had a KD model number 5400 loader installed on a John Deere tractor. I need to remove the bucket to install an attachment with spears for loading hay. The bracket between the bucket and the hydraulic rams is welded to the bucket. Hoping I can find the brackets for sale somewhere that will allow me to attach a hay spear attachment to the hydraulic rams.

I have been having an issue with the MMM, I’ve heard of others having the same problem.
2018 1025 non auto connect.
No matter the height setting, when I lower the deck it stops on the Left side, and the right side continues to lower at least a 1/2 inch more.
Nothing appears to be bent on the MMM.
The MMM Frame on the tractor is not bent, I’ve disconnected the 3point, changed the lift arm under the foot board as I was told it wears out, luckily my dealer refunded me for that.

Morning Sam, I did not purchase a MMM, I purchased a 700 series just to cut grass. Sorry your having the issues you described, sorry but I don’t have any experience to share.
sounds like your deck is not adjusted properly side to side. It can be adjusted using the turnbuckles that are on each side of the lift bracket. Raise the low side and lower the high side a bit. You may have to play with it a bit with some trial and error until you get it dialed in and hanging level for the cut.
Hi Bill . Was common problem on the 200 CX loader that we had the 2720 Deere . Word too the wise owners with this type of Deere quick attach system . Do not use any cheap flimsy frame mounts on pallet fork attachments or front blade mounts etc . Always use a quality frame mount attachment . I have been down this road before and it ain’t a good outcome when twisting of the cheap frame starts 👍

I have no problem with this .
If you hold the loader part vertically you drive to the bucket and they wil Aline themselves automatically.
It is not a thing that needs to be changed.
This is designed from the beginning like this so that if you drive to the bucket or whatever attachments you do not have to be 100% in line with it .
So it doe’s have an absolute advantage as it is from the beginning.
The way shown in this video with the parts horizontally is absolute not the way to pick up an attachment

Thankya sir for showing this here video. The paddles on my John Deer 1025R are kinduh outtuh sink, but not real bad. Bout like whatchya showed in the video here. I'll have take out the cotter pins & their mount pins & replace them with 2 7/16s nuts & bolts. Im glad there is a fixable solution to this irritating problem. I'll have to try it! My dealer drilled the hole out to accommodate a large enough bolt to eliminate the slope and fit snugly. Hope you have the same results I did.
My 1st gen 2025R required a new timing rod because the holes were too elongated. Timing PIN is the correct terminology because that is its sole function, to synchronize the two paddles.

I have the same problem on my 1025R with the H120 loader. I purchased 7/16 th bolts and they do not fit, too large to put in as replacements for the pins. Went to Tractor Supply and sized the pins to fit in the bar. The only problem now is the bolt and nut are too close to the loader frame and will not permit tightening the hardware. You said what you did on the larger loader, what did you do on the H120?
Don, do you have room to drill out the timing rod holes so the 7/16 bolts fit snug?
Bill, I have just come across your video after researching the same issue I have with my 440R loader (John Deere 4066R tractor). I am having trouble with our dealer understanding what the issue is. We are in Australia and I don't think the dealers mechanics have dealt with this before. You said in the video that this problem was covered under warranty. I'm wondering if you could let me know which dealer you used and if possible the name of a person at the dealership that may understand this problem. There isn't any technical bulliten, the technician did the repair based on his experence.

I have noticed this but I’m not convinced that there isn’t something else at work, like miss matched pressure or flow between the cylinders which will put stress on the timing rod and the problem will show up again later. I don’t have a solution and I’m not an engineer but for now I’m not going to mess with mine. I’ll be interested to hear how the modification is working after several hours of use.
Hi Jim my repair was done last July I missed the opportunity to make a video then, so my friend Mark allowed me to videotape his machine to demonstrate the issue. With about 50 hours on the repair on now I haven’t had any reoccurrence of the issue.

This issues seems to strike a nerve with the groups I’m in. Some say it’s normal and others not.

@@billburkhart My dealership had no idea about this and says its normal. However, I disagree and don't like it. Here is my idea, I'm torn right now between a 7/16" clevis and a 7/16" bolt and nut. I'm leaning towards the clevis only because I feel like the nut is not serving any purpose other than keeping the bolt from falling out. By tightening it you are merely squeezing the protrusions on the bucket rather than squeezing and tightening the timing rod. Either way the fix looks like it worked out for you and I'll do the same.

Happy Sunday Gerald, basically they chose the largest diameter bolt that would feel the elongated hole in fact I believe they may have drilled it out to accommodate a larger bolt. Hope this helps good luck

Thanks for your swift reply. I got 7/16 bolts which are 1/16 inches larger diameter than the pins. They almost fit. I was going to drill it out but figured I’d ask before drilling thru the cast iron.
My paddles are off by at least 3” from each other.
My first thought was a bad cylinder. However with the bucket off I can lift the tractor with paddles. So my thought was if it extends enough to lift the front end the cylinder must be working ok.
Now I’ll see if I have a 7/16 drill bit.

Not pleased with Deere. I traded in my 1025r for a 2025 r. The 1025 couldn’t put chains on without first buying wheel spacers. I asked the dealer why do you sell chains knowing they won’t work. The first day I got the 2025 one cylinder for the backhoe had to be replaced, it would stay in the upright position. The first time I used the mower the front hanger broke.
I had 2 new Holland tractors before the Deere a 1520 and the a tc30. Had them each about 10 years never anything broke or go wrong.
Unfortunately New Holland compact is just to compact.

FYI watch the Hyd. Hose for backhoe scoop. Every hydro hose on the hoe is covered with heavy fabric shield all except the one for the scoop. I was digging under a deck a rubbed a pin hole thru the hose. Another 12” of covering would have saved the hose. I replaced the hose $140, new hose has the protection fabric covering the entire hose.

Deer doesn't give a damn and has no intention of fixing this as it’s widely accepted as normal with most owners.

Nice tip, Bill. I own Massey(s) and haven't had this issue but will remember the sound advice. After reading comments below, it appears many viewers have been living with the uneven curling for quite a while. The unsynchronized arm curl seems it could put undue stress on one of the cylinders when curling the bucket with heavy loads. Is that possible? Appreciate the video. We are not fearful of extremely cold weather but I'll admit, some days, the coldness affects my joints. Not sure if that's results of years in Uncle Sam's finest for 28.5 years or if it's just old age (both, I guess). Dwayne some dealers know about it and others do not . If you make reference to that technician bulletin it may lead your dealer to the right place. My dealer did it at no charge and under warranty

Hello Sam. Some drilling is required, I believe I mentioned in the video that my dealer went up to a larger size and was able to take the slop out of that timing rod you may want to revisit that video. Good luck with the repair.
@@billburkhart just finished with it, drilled it out, put a 7/16 in, still sloppy, drilled again larger and still some slop but not as much, guess the rod is elongated too much.
At least I know what to do if I go further.

What size bolt for the 1025?
Mike remove the pins and see how elongated the holes are. You may have to drill the hole out so you can install a snug bolt and nut. Good luck keep me posted on the outcome
