    Ebru Sanatı Hakkında
    Ebru sanatı, en eski Türk kağıt süsleme sanatlarındandır.
    Orta Asya dillerinden Çağatayca’da “hare gibi, damarlı” anlamına gelen ‘Ebre’ kelimesi Ebru sanatının bilinen ilk adıdır.
    İpek Yolu ile İran’a gelen sanat, burada ‘Abru’ (Su Yüzü) veya ‘Ebri’ (Bulutumsu, bulut gibi) olarak isimlendirilmiştir. Daha sonra Türklerle birlikte Anadolu’ya gelen bu sanatın adı ‘Ebru’ olarak dilimize yerleşmiştir.
    Şu an Avrupa’da ‘Marbling’ diye bilinen Ebru 17. yüzyılda Avrupa’ya ‘Türk kağıdı’ adıyla gitmiştir. Ebru Türkiye’de cilt sanatının yanı sıra, hat sanatında zemin ve pervaz olarak kullanılmıştır. Hat sanatının, sanat atölyelerinde çoğalmasıyla birlikte, fonda kullanılan bu desenli kağıdın da değeri artmış, çerçevelenecek kadar önemsenmiştir.
    Günümüzde, diğer soyut ve plastik sanatlar gibi değerlendirilmektedir. Ebru, görsel zerafetinin yanı sıra, bizlere mikro ve makro alemlerden, çıplak gözün göremeyeceği ilginç güzellikler sunar. Ayrıca Ebru’nun terapik özelliği olduğu, bu tarihi sanatın meraklıları için tartışılmayan bir gerçektir.

    one thing thou; this is Turksh Ebru Art is heritage from 100's of years. you can not mass produce. each tank of design is for one print. another words you can not have two of the same design. so each design is unique and one of a kind. if you have an Ebru, thats the only one in the world.

      İsterseniz evde suya sulu boya ile de denersiniz. Ama asıl ebru boyaları kadar güzel olmaz. UA-cam'da birçok video var bu konuyla alakalı:)

      I’ve done marbling from a large pan as you’ve done. Mine not as large- or as beautiful… just left spaces to draw in. Yours are all over.

    Süper olmuş.20 yıl önce çok tecrubeli hocamdan ders aldım.Halıyı çok beğendim,ama sık yıkanabilecek bir ürün değil.Kumaşı ebruyla buluşturup kuruduktan sonra ütüler sonra yıkardık.Zamanla ilk hali kalmıyor.Ben kullanmaya kıyamam.Ebru sanatı aşktır.

      This is a technique called ebru. The paper or fabric to be coloured is treated with an aluminium derivative in water, then various colours (traditionally inks or dyes mixed with gall, but some use watered acrylics) are prepared, along with a tray of what is called "size". Size is water, thickened with carageenan or methocel so it is a very thick consistency and the colour will not sink, but lay on top. Then, as you saw, the colours are dropped onto the size and manipulated with sticks and combs, and the paper or fabric is laid, treated side down, over the coloured surface.

    sylvia i found this on a forum ; The best place to buy gum tragacanth is a pro bakery supplier. They come in powder form and you need to mix it with water. About one table spoon full with about 500ml of water. You can put more or less depending on the thickness that you want. It is best to mix in some "dettol" because that would prevent the gum from going bad. Do not try to mix the powder into the water when you first add it. They will not mix. Just give the container a shake and leave it over night. The powder will soke up the water and turn into a paste. Add water to get the consistency that you want.

      The paper (or cloth-you can do ebru on cloth as well) is treated with a special mix of an aluminium product and water that sets the colour right away. The liquid that they are dropping the colours on is thickened with a seaweed derivative called carogeenan or something called methocel which is like the cellulose in plants like lettuce and celery so the colours, which are lighter in weight stay on top and soak right into the paper. If you have colour that sinks through the size (that's the thickened water) then you sometimes get smears, but usually, if the dyes are floating on top properly, it will transfer right to the paper in a matter of a few seconds and then you can remove it from the tray and let it dry

      c7i6abc , nearly instant adhesion. The "smearing" you saw was excess not absorbed and still suspended in the tank.

    THANK YOU FOR SHOWING US THIS and the other works just leaves one breathless, its as much fun watching the process as it is the final static print, moves from a liquid dynamic to a rigid canvas/paper one, even the early stages of a work are bold graphic imagery in themselves. in fact IMO the production is better than the completed form, but one things for sure i got to go do some of this myself.,

      It is not exactly water. It is called Tragacanth and if you put Tragacanth to water and wait couple op hours or days, you get kitre.

      Thanks for the info. I hope for your sake the Tragacanth isn't expensive. I would like to try something like this on a small scale, with just water, Acrylic paint, and maybe origami paper?

      Corn starch has the same effect - just stabilises the water sufficiently that it doesn't slop around. Kerrageen (seaweed) is even better.
