Hi, I have issue with my tablet. I don't know why but shortcuts don't wotk in my GIMP... I do like the tutorial show but nothing is happen. I try press copy and paste but nothing happen. Once I was able to use it but then somehow stop work again... I try use other version of GIMP, but still nothing. Do I do something wrong? My tablet is Intuos Pro S. Please help.
Fantastic just started to use a small wacom tablet which makes using gimp so much easier now i know how to use the tablet and how to set up the shortcuts its going to make a massive difference. thanks.
I did think the Wacom tablet was a bad decision as there's not very good tutorials online that shows you how to setup and use your tablet. Great tutorial once again. I will set this up now with inkscape also
we should be able to disable the stylus buttons. when I'm painting on gimp, the lower button of the stylus is in a weird position since I'm left hander and I use to press it with my thumb accidentaly. This opens the right click window in the middle of the canvas, messing off my focus and causing some of frustration when it happens repeatedly but for some reason we are not able to disable em.
Thank you so much for providing this excellent tutorial. I followed the instructions closely and can use my tablet with GIMP however using the buttons set up in 'App shortcuts' panel do not behave exactly as I had expected. I see that Not Techy Tutorials has made a similar comment. Some examples below. 1. Select the Path tool 2. Click on the image a few times to add a few anchor points 3. Bring up the 'App shortcuts' panel and use the 'Undo' button - Nothing happens. I found that if I selected the path in the Paths dockable dialog first then clicked 'Undo' it worked. Similarly I set up one of the buttons to be 'Move' i.e. shortcut m 1. Open an image 2. Open a second image as layers 3. Bring up the 'App shortcuts' panel select the 'Move' button 4. Try and drag the second image to move it - nothing happens. Again I found I needed to select the appropriate layer first. Its like you have to get the focus back on an 'object' even though in theory it should already have focus. I'm a complete novice using both tablet and Gimp so perhaps this behaviour is not unexpected? Gimp 2.20.20 revision 1, Intuos Pro M
Thank you and I love you, I also appreciate the lefty suggestion. I just got done installing some old Windows 10 left-handed cursors as I was setting everything up. My only problem is how do I un-rotate the canvas?
Something that NEEDS to be pointed out is that, you must use the STYLUS to go through the setup. Because if you (as I did) enter settings using the MOUSE, and then pick up the stylus again, it will detect the input device has changed and the settings WILL NOT be what you entered!
Great tutorial, thanks pal. Just one question, is there a way to get the tilt function working in gimp? It's not as essential now with the touch ring but I am curious
How do you write the forward slash in on screen shortcuts? And another thing. My gimp wont register when I use my on screen shortcuts any suggestions to why this happens?
Don't know if you found an answer yet but I have the sameproblem. The Gimp/screen shortcuts like 'undo' are not working when i want to use them. Only when I click at undo history in the program. Then the undo on my shortcut works. But it's very frustrating
@@leonie1498 I don't think I ever figured that out. I just replaced it with another shortcut, like "shift". My OS recently updated and I could remap all the buttons and keep it there now (instead of redoing it everytime), but I still don't see an option for that shortcut.
Thank you for the most informative tutorial which I have followed and successfully set things up in Windows. However, I mostly use Linux Mint for work: are you able to give any tips or hints about mapping the Wacom tablet to GIMP in Linux?
Ok, old video bup hopefully someone can help. HOW THE HECK TO I ACCESS THE TOUCH RING?!?! I've looked it up all over and nothing seems to know what I am talking about.
The keyboard shortcuts also sometimes don't work. For example, the [ may be reached by AltGr-8 but is translated into Strg-Alt-8, hence "decrease tool by 1" does not work. In the end it's way simpler to have a keyboard at hand additionally anyways. And the Zoom button still is a big disappointment to me, it's just not responsible or sensitive enough. This is bad for a device with the price tag of a washing machine. Anyways, good video, thank you!
way too slow of a start bro if people are on this tutorial it means they know how to map shortcuts already and are just looking for the best shortcuts to map
Thanks for the video. You answered all my questions.
I have exactly the same wacom tablet and learned a lot from this tutorial, thankyou !

Also frustrating when you're trying to assign ''Erase'' to one of the buttons and you still get 'rightclick'.
Thanks for the information man!!!! New sub here!!!

Awesome thanks a million very good help video I love Gimp
I have mapped it correctly however when I start drawing it shows up elsewhere. What settings should I try to fix this?

I followed your instructions but the first button for GIMP shortcuts, when I use it in GIMP nothing happens.
Same for me, found an answer yet?

@DaviesMediaDesign Could you do the same video with Linux OS instead of Windows, please?
My tablet isn't showing up under input devices at all. Help
Sir; where did you learned such nice image manipulation techniques☺.....
Always thankful for your tutorials.
Hi Davies, I wonder which laptop stand you use there
dynamics is off and i can't seem to turn it on. also, it doesn't say wacom, it says quartz pen/ quartz eraser. ????
Thank you
Has anyone successfully added A15 Pro to Gimp 2.10?
Can you please make a tutorial on how to create custom brushes in GIMP 2.10.18
YES!!!! ....WHAT HE SAYS ❗ Custom brushes...pleeeasse❓🏆
Why my tablet in gimp doesn't start painting instantly. It just waits and then draws straight line.

I agree. Please create a video with Linux as the OS. I use Linux MX. Some others may use Linux Mint, or Ubuntu, etc...

this solution dont work if you have an older device that use the legacy driver
Where's the Linux driver?
Nope, Pen wont work in Gimp either.
