Opening this weekend, December 7th. It's looking fabulous.

I missed the opening due to my bike being in the shop - but I did manage to ride it a week later on a rental e-bike. It's pretty good.

As a current Sydneysider & past Perth resident, I remember the Causeway bridge, way back in 1999/2000 it was crap infrastructure .☹... It'll be great to finally get to ride the new bridge 👍

I have been affected by this construction for months now but good to see it is for a very good cause. My current route is along the Graham Farmer freeway bridge but will have to make a detour to try this one when complete.

    What a great project
    Well thought out
How lucky are we all to live in such a great city
Massive thanks to the labour government

If you've got any mates in the state government, please ask them to sort out the Fremantle traffic bridge replacement project - because it is a bit of a debacle for cyclists at present. It's not well thought out by any means.

What makes this bridge more intriguing, is that Victoria Park is voted the worst suburb for cycling in Perth by WA Cyclist (Perth-now 23 December 2023). Looking at Dep of Transport “Major Cycle and Pedestrian Paths” the two main cycle paths from the south are the Kwinana Freeway and Armadale Railway paths. This is confirmed by your good selves in a recent video on the detours in place for the upgrading of the Armadale Railway. There is no justification for this grandiose bridge.
As I said, a political promise. I am not complaining but our tax money could be better spend.
I am looking forward to your video on the completion of the cycle path along the Tonkin Highway, crossing the Swan river and Gilford Road, linking to the path along the Midlands Railway. The Bayswater detours, since the construction started on the Airport tunnel project is eventually complete. Thank you Rita the Concreta!

don't bag the spending in Perth,
Just in the Brisbane region there will be EIGHT means (not including ferry) means for cyclist to cross the river
& only two for car(not including toll or motorway)
(central bridge (melbourne st) was clogged with busses clear across so they got rid of motor vehicles)

Wow didn’t know this is what they were doing! Love walking and cycling through stadium parklands, over matagrup bridge and around east Perth so this will be really cool. Can’t wait to ride over this bridge. Good to see there is now 3 good (2 very good) cross river connections for cyclists and pedestrians those being under the windan bridge, Matagarup Bridge and this new Causeway cyclist bridge.

We have enough crappy, boring bridges in Perth. Something iconic is absolutely needed. Especially in this location. We also have a massive budget surplus and we can afford to do it at this time. There is an opportunity cost for everything. We could build one less highway interchange each year and build 10X the bike infrastructure annually. I'm surprised this even got up given the anti-cyclist sentiment in Perth. We're lucky and this will be a game changer for us bike riders.

About Time, The Causeway is dangerous for cyclists and pedestrians.

Perhaps they could include a bell tower on the new bridge,
while they put a Lifesavers Lookout on the top of the Swan Bell Tower,
with a siren to clear the area when they see a shark.
Then BOTH structures would be functional.

Spending is easy to justify - election promise

TRIPE! Absolute tripe just as is that other ridiculous gimmick near the new football stadium.... The design is crap and from what I saw of the engineering, that's likely the same as well. So how many millions has been spent on gimmicks and you can throw in the stupid Conference Centre and Bell Tower too. Heap them into the same basket as dreadful failed gimmicks...
Meanwhile so much of the city's rich architecture from times gone by when quality and style mattered, has been turned to dust. Those who destroyed the art deco theatres and so many of the buildings of Perth, may you be tormented for eternity for your stupidity and lack of respect for OUR history.
