I remember being 18 years old and I was set to travel to Asia for the first time ever. I looked at shows about local eateries and culture I found Anthony Bourdain. He shaped how I travel, how I met people, how to embraced local culture. I have eaten everything and met everyone I could. I have friends all over the world because of this man. He was my travel guru, and had an impact in my life, he never knew. But in his self aware way, I think he had an idea how he impacted the world.
@@victormcdaniel4669 He didnt. People keep thinking TV is real. THey are all fixers bought by the network and send to work. Its not like "tony called up an old friend in cambodia" is fkin entertainment you dingbats.
early munchies shows were amazing. after vice got bought out and tried to go for a tv network deal they ripped off/fired the few amazing hosts that they had.
16:38 I read in Tony Bourdain's book "A Cook's Tour" that he slipped and fell almost the moment the camera panned away from him. The establishing shot was actually done after Tony and Zamir finished dinner. You can kind of hear it in their voices.
I won't pretend to be the first person to discover Anthony, but I came in pretty early in the game - a good friend and mentor that I first started working in high end restaurants in NYC passed me an already fairly dog eared copy of Kitchen Confidential maybe a few months after it was first published (it was SCANDALOUS among cooks and chefs in NYC) Athony's knowlege, sarcasm, rebelliousness and blunt sense of humor came through immediately in the book - and then he popped up on TV. I watched all of these early A Cooks Tour episodes a couple of times before he blew up and went on to No Reservations. Needless to say, here we are, decades later with an ending that, (I don't think) anyone saw coming. Now, I'm back, watching all of these early episodes with a familiar wonder - what strikes me most is his wicked sense of humor and his unique choice of words and point of view when describing all things culinary. He is truly a very funny guy, in a half nerdy, half cocky punk rock way. He was a very ballsy guy but also subtle and humble. These ACT videos are kinda raw and simple but that's what makes them so interesting. He wasn't the first to do these kind of culinary travel videos but he definitely changed the genre forever and paved the way for chefs, journalists and presenters today.
I remember watching this episode. If you read, watched, attempted, respected, laughed at or ate anything this man created, then you know. RIP Tony Bourdain.
The way he hung gimself so his his children had to deal with the pain is poetic. Literally the most selfish disgusting act. Oh well a lady hurt his feeling. What a complete coward. Waaah I have enough money to cure my problems x 1000 but I’ll kill myself because I’m sad. He’s a good man.
You know, I'd never heard of Tony when his death was headline news, then I saw that his primary line of work was a chef. And I just didn't get it, how can someone in the culinary line of work be considered such a beloved public figure and essentially transcend his profession? But after getting familiar with these episodes (among other food/travel shows), and the passion and curiosity he was filled with, I'm glad to consider myself a fan now. RIP sir.
I have a great grandfather who came from Russia to Ellis island in 1906. It's very disappointing that there are not more Russian cooking channels on youtube. I think there are more Filipino channels honestly. Just not enough people celebrating Russian cuisine out there.
Shout to my mom who makes super dank salmon kulebyaka with ginger sauce. Fusion baby! Kind of sad that this treasure of Russian cuisine got the treatment it did in this episode.
Too bad these Cook's tour episodes were just 30 minutes on the food network. Around 22 minutes of actual show time. Seems like they just get warmed up.
only in Russia would they jump into what appears to be a specially made ice tomb after being mercilessly beaten with birch branches by a woman named Olga. classic.
The bottle on the table looks like Russian Standard. Nice, clean vodka with very little aftertaste. Either straight or in a cocktail. Good choice Tony.

a lovable wise ass who I truly miss. God and the saints bless him
I hope they didn't murder Anthony Bourdain
I found me a real life Einstein here.... No wacko I didn't say Weinstein
They did@@edyr
This man lived.
Love how he always kept in contact with all his local fixers and translators around the world which he met in these early days.
"him"
God I wish anthony bourdain was still around. I only fell in love with his passion for food and culture/people after he had passed.

No. Not really. Why? The Russian mentality
That 20 minutes went by so fast. Why cant shows be this good anymore. Interesting people make interesting shows.
He had a special gift.
@Asherah 1147 Mark and Food ranger are reaction channels. "OMG this is soo amazing", "holy cow that looks good". Tony narrated a story

When does your first episode air? :)
When will you start making interesting shows Daniel ?
I am enjoying (in a bittersweet way) seeing these again. Thank you so much for posting them . Love ya, Tony!
No need to feel sad. we should embrace his life by remembering these moments
Tony is a badass for this. May he be remembered fondly.
Zamir - the international man of mystery, a true enigmatic.
Always scheming, trying to get Tony to buy into different business ventures. 🤣🤣🤣
The sauna beating comment cracked me up😂😂😂. I will always enjoy watching and missing him. RIP 🙏🙏🙏.
Tony is the OG of travel influencers

Now reading the book and just searching for this clip!!
They where already smashed but after diner had to shoot the beginning scene.

Tony was so stunning and so brave
well said!
This was the first Anthony Bourdain for me. Always enjoyed him off and on since.
I watch him for hours on end & never get tired of it
We all miss you Tony✊
Only Anthony Bourdain could fly across the world and wait 5 hours for a dish and then not want it 🤣🤣
I think he delighted in presenting himself as a bad ass, which I find so phony.
@@Margaretv-x8l eh i dont really think so. I think he was a genuinely guy who was into a few subcultures but ultimately did his own thing.
Anytime Tony went to Russia it was a good episode. Always tons of vodka, and always Zamir.
So nice to see Zamir in this episode. This must be the first one he appeared on.
One of the great recurring characters in Tony’s life.
@@Booshay__this is Bourdain 2nd Ep in Russia, Zamir first appeared in the previous Ep, Ep 13

This was always my favorite Cook's Tour episode! 👍😄
He really seemed to be genuinely enjoying himself in this one!
Finally... some food I can relate to
Zamir is a television genious 😂

What do we do when we watch everything he made ? Rewatch ! Looking forward to the movie
