Peter Safran is the co-head of the Studio who is supposed to be the person in charge of the business while Gunn aheads up the story and creative direction. If Gunn hasn't contacted Andy then Safran who's a producer on all these projects needs to step in.
I think its clear whats going on here. They prematurely announced Muschietti as Batman’s director, the Flash bombed and now Gunn and the studio suits want nothing to do with him. Whether you love or hate The Flash it ended up being one of if not THE biggest financial disaster in WB history. That kind of thing ends careers. I think Gunn is biding time to give muschietti the boot while he figures out what he is doing with Batman. So Andy is in limbo kind of like how Gal was.
The best thing they could of done is call it a "due to schedule conflict" Muschietti will not be doing it. The best excuse would be the Welcome to Derry series.
Not true. Andys Batman movie was in the works before the Flash movie came out. If they wanted to do something they wouldve done so by now. Gunn likes him and what they're building together so Andy is still going to direct
@kguillou That's exactly it. And Andy knows they want to fire him too, but he also knows that they would prefer to do it quietly so that they don't get any negative press. Muschietti, is doing these interviews so they can't just quietly fire him, or replace him with Matt Reeves. Either he gets fired and it's a big embarrassing situation, or they let him make Batman, or they give him another project to direct
This reminds me of the Gal Gadot situation. Gal said publicly she was going to continue on as WW with a new project, but then that fell through and she's never spoken about it since. Sounds like Andy is trying to keep his name attached to the project by speaking publicly about it, but it wouldn't surprise me if he's replaced.

Despite all the problems with The Flash I really enjoyed the movie and thought Andy Muschietti did a great job directing both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton in their final performances of both Bruce Wayne and Batman. I think he'd be great for Brave and the Bold.

Anybody find it interesting how many directors that went into the DCEU having a previously decent at worst body of work, only to come out with their reputation completely tarnished?
That’s what I’m saying. Jenkins seems to have pretty much gone to director jail after 84. She was supposed to do a Star Wars but that seems to have gone away after the second Wonder Woman movie. I don’t see her involved with anything else lately. Jenkins, Snyder, Andy, David Ayer, and even Sandberg to a lesser extent. I think Wan has enough clout and history to be mostly immune to this issue though.
Just because you're not hearing of anything, doesn't mean they aren't working. Patty has been a producer of a movie since then. Ayer has directed 3 movies since then. Sandberg is working on a film based on the Until Dawn game. Muschietti is working on an IT series. Also, Snyder's been fully involved (Director, Producer, Writer) with 3 movies since he left the DCEU, those movies just sucked lol. People make bad movies all the time, one bad film isn't holding them back. And not every movie they make is going to make noise or go mainstream.
I’m not just talking about actual director jail. I am talking about their reputation. Snyder has directed several movies yes, but they are all on Netflix. The guy honestly might not ever work for a major theatrical studio again. He is too much of a risk. David Ayer has done some stuff but he was also kind of in director jail for a little while post SS, and that movie made a lot of people think he was a hack. Jenkins, again, really hasn’t done much since 84 and clearly had her SW movie scrapped. Muschietti will probably be fine but, like I said, people now think he is also a hack because of the flash.
@@Joshcoshbagosh I mean, that's anything with life. If an athlete does bad, their reputation gets hurt. These Directors made a bad film. Just even very small things that didn’t need it. Is just gonna make it age like milk. Like I watched Batman 89’ recently and it has aged SO WELL from a visual stand-point because of how much was done practically. Just so many times I was like “the fact that this looks better than The Flash, and came out 25 years later is insanity.” I get that the Flash is a character that needs more CGI because you can’t get a real person to run super sonic speeds but even like Batman flying just idk. After rewatching Nolan's Batman trilogy, it's really a shame him and Bale didn't agree with continuing to build the DC universe. A Batman and Superman movie under Nolan would've been fantastic.

Andi is a professional with so many successful movies under his belt and he understands how studios work. It's surprising for him to be making these claims without getting the approval of the studio head. It's getting awkward now.
Didn't Matt Reeves comment on The Batman merging into the DCU at the Goolden Globe carpet? I think he said that the door is open but he hasn't decided whether he will walk through it yet?
Do agree that the director or potential director need to shut his mouth.. also believe everyone’s kinda overreacting. This is not old DCU or Star Wars type miscommunication YET..
People need to calma down. Andy is still going to direct until told otherwise. We need to wait and not believe these scoopers because they've gotten so many things wrong in James DCU before it's even started
I think it's time to bring in Chad Stahelski (John Wick films) to direct and John Logan (recent 007 films) to write DC Studios' The Brave and the Bold. These two collaborating would do an awesome job crafting a movie about Batman and his sidekick Robin (Damian Wayne) in James Gunn & Peter Safran's DC Universe brand.
James and Andrew need to attend a mandatory meeting as soon as possible. Miscommunication can lead to numerous disasters, and this is one of those situations. I understand that James is managing a superhero franchise for the first time, but this issue needs to be resolved.
I'm just really interested to see what the 2025-2029 plan for the DCU is and how it involves Batman and Wonder Woman. Maybe we'll find it more second half of this year
@ i like him and think he can be funny but sometimes, unfortunately, his commentary puts a hault on the conversation. I remember it was reeeally bad when John was talking about SDCC not having enough room for people in Hall H , that was a rough one lol
I'm ok with Andy, but it would also be great if it was someone else. Either way, long as they are able to make a good Batman DCU movie then that's all that matters.
The Flash was a failure, so it weakens his momentum to get the film. He is also probably seeing headlines about Reeves joining the DCU and is probably angry at his Batman film being taken away
My intuition is the script still needs hammering out; I had read something about Gunn not completely happy with it…not saying they’re behind schedule but still getting to the final draft…possibly why we haven’t heard the Batman casting yet
I always thought what would have been an interesting idea for the flash movie to get pattinson and phoenix together but have them play adam west and cesar romero. They could get paul dano as frank gorshen and colin farrell as burges merideth. I think that would have been a much better concept.
I'd be more concerned about this of stuff if James Gunn wasn't working on Superman. Muschietti definitely shouldn't comment on the Brave and the Bold. Gunn is going through some growing pains but I don't think this is really any cause for concern. Let's be patient
Season finale not series finale. It's renewed for a second season and it's in production already. The Flash movie sucked and the only redeeming quality is Michael Keaton's Batman/Bruce Wayne. Andy Muschietti shouldn't direct the Batman film after the shit crap he did with The Flash. Supergirl and Batman again were the only redeeming qualities in that film.
How are they going to incorporate Batman in the DCU? Reeves's The Batman was year 2 Batman. Year 3 Batman adopts Dick Grayson age 12. Gunn's Batman supposedly is a lived in everyone knows Batman. Just have 2 Batmans.
2 Batmen are ideal on paper, one in DCU and one Elseworlds. But if they are both on the big screen, it could cannibalize each others performance. Tough situation to be in, they can either sideline Matt Reeves' batman which was already successful, or have both batmen released but potentially confuse the audience and have each other lower their performances
This director comment sounds like he's not that hyped about doing this movie honestly, feels more like he's just going to work and doing this thing, not too much passion, which is a problem when doing you know, ART Now we can all think that even if the movie is nice, it could be much better if he was actually interested I think the biggest victim of this movie not having a fully passionate developer is how he'll likely portrait the robins that aren't Damian, I don't have much confidence he researched how their differences are if he's just going to work
Love how Campbell is saying Andy should shut his mouth when Gunn has done nothing but debunk and respond to fans like he spends his life on twitter since he's became CEO of DC Studios despite it leading to massive condradicts like when Gal Gadot said she was working with Gunn and Safran on Wonder Woman 3, only for DC Studios to come out and "debunk" it If anything Gunn needs to stop commenting to every fan and reporter on twitter, you don't see Kevin Fegie taking the time out of his day to debunk fan rumors like Gunn's terminally online personality does,
didnt James Gunn said that they were still working on The Batman Pt. II script but yet Matt Reeves said they go into production this year 🤔 how can u go into production if u are still working on the script
Depends. If it needs extensive re-writes or revisions and filming starts in, say, two weeks, then yes, that's a problem. But if they're just doing finishing touches on a mostly completed script and they're shooting like six months from now, then that's fine.
Hes the best director to make Batman. The fight scenes in the FLASH movie was top notch he really showed what Batman could do fight wise. It was like watching the animated movies come to life. I hate grounded realistic Batman
@TheTheoreticalMutanThats not his fault. He put out a movie that was in development hell for so long and then had to deal with WB interfering and medaling in the story as well as Ezra Miller. His Batman stuff was good
What the heck is Peter Safran job? I feel like he should be the figure head to aligned directors and producers to be on the same page. Furthermore, that will keep James Gunn on track with his vision from the creative side.
I still would love to see someone like Chad Stahelski direct the DCU Batman movie. Stahelski and his crew have been apart of and created pretty much every iconic cinematic action movie and sequences ever🤷♂️ and with the John wick franchise he’s more than proven himself that he can create incredible shots and very cinematic stuff and with great style…. If he doesn’t do Batman then he should be the one to do Blade
At this point, I’m confident all of this is just prepping for Andy to be removed and for James and Matt to press go on The Batman Part 2 to be a part of the DCU and replace Brave & the Bold. They’re all just waiting to see if Superman does well. And if it does, I guarantee that go button is gonna be pressed.
Also The Batman 2 isn’t going to suddenly change course to fit the DCU depending on Superman. Their plan for that movie will already be well into motion by the time Superman’s success has been determined.
My guy I could use that same logic and say that if Superman does great (which I think it will) then Gunn gets to have the keys fully and gets to create his own dcu batman and let Matt do his own thing
@Joshcoshbagosh Thank you. I don't know why they aren't. Makes sense to me. Similarly how Marvel TV tried to be apart of the MCU with Inhumans and how that didn't work out. Same goes here. People keep trying to push Pattinson as DCU Batman even tho we've been told repeatedly he isnt. People forget Gunn likes to do his own thing he doesn't like it when other try to cram other stuff in with his stuff. Think about Thor with the GotG. He immediately removed him from the team like it never happened
John, let’s tone it down a bit.. this solely isn’t on Gunn.. let’s not forget he’s a COhead along with Peter Safran. Gunn made it sound like Peter is in charge of the business side of things and there definitely sees like a communication break down.. but hopefully alls good soon
Remember, english is not his first language, and it depends on translation and stuff like that. Maybe reading too much into it? John's answer sounded nice, though.
I'm surprised that no one has brought up the box office and critical reception of The Flash. I don't know about other people, but I keep seeing fans who want him off the project. At first I thought that Gunn was placing some distance between Mucehitti and updates of TBATB, to et the stigma of The Flash die down a bit. Fans don;t know the difference between what a director does, and what an animator does. SoI wonder if it is that,. This reminds me of Affleck telling the press that WB has to wait for him to finish the script, right after WB said productions was going to start in a coupe of months.
David had his Batman movie in the works before the Flash movie was out. He got out a movie that was in development hell and had WB interferance and medaling. His Batman stuff was good. Gunn likes him and the stuff their building

James Gunn is the boss and the directors getting a little salty. They want to do what they want to do selfishly, Andy and Matt Reeves. James Gunn has to do whats best for DC! do whats best for DC and everything will be ok , stop being selfish
I know that this is unrelated to this post, but I was just re-watching the tv movie 'Whitney', and the actor who plays Bobby Brown (Arlen Escarpeta) looks like a younger version of Jonathan Majors.
i'm of the opinion that "the flash," and "batman vs superman" are 2 of the worst dc films. It's basically watching 3 different movies chopped together.
We don't need two batman franchises at the same time. Just bring Pattinson batman to the dcu or just cast a young actor for the role to appear in a superman featuring movie.
Based on what’s being reported, it seems to me, Muschietti is trying to force James Gunn to greenlight production sooner rather than later. That may get him taken off the project. Who knows! But to me he wants redemption for the Flash movie (which I like) bc fans put that movie on blast!

Or what's his name who does the Mission Impossible movies
I was nervous for him directing Batman after seeing the flash tbh even though Batman has the best scenes in that movie
He's going to direct no need to worry. Gunn likes him and likes the stuff they're doing
If the IT series does well (or poorly) that may determine if Muschieti stays on or not.
Can someone please cancel Ray Ora?
What’s wrong with Ray?
stop using far rigth buzz words dude
James and Andrew need to attend a mandatory meeting as soon as possible. Miscommunication can lead to numerous disasters, and this is one of those situations. I understand that James is managing a superhero franchise for the first time, but this issue needs to be resolved.
Thank you for finally catching up to creature commandos 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Why does Ray have to speak?
He just says words and I never understand what he’s saying
I'm just really interested to see what the 2025-2029 plan for the DCU is and how it involves Batman and Wonder Woman. Maybe we'll find it more second half of this year
Whats confusing is Gunn has a partner. Whats he doing?
He works on the financials. Gunn is the creative side.
Safron is basically Bog Iger and Gunn is Kevin Feige. Get it?
I was wondering the same. I thought Gunn took care of the creative and Safran took care of the business end. Maybe this falls on the creative end?
@toshtao1 still, there's some weak communication happening it seems. DC doesn't need that.
Oh, Ray.
i want him to leave the show
@ i like him and think he can be funny but sometimes, unfortunately, his commentary puts a hault on the conversation. I remember it was reeeally bad when John was talking about SDCC not having enough room for people in Hall H , that was a rough one lol
If The Flash movie is any indication of how his Batman film will be, then yes James please pick a different director
I know that some people like The Flash which is cool, but for me, that movie is horrible. I agree, pick another director.
He's not going to. Andy is going to continue to direct. People forget he had done other stuff then the Flash. He's a good director
I'm ok with Andy, but it would also be great if it was someone else. Either way, long as they are able to make a good Batman DCU movie then that's all that matters.
Ray can’t talk on camera, he derails a lot of topics, maybe just keep him behind the scenes.
He does that every once in awhile he's fine
Yeah, but this interview was done in spanish then translated to English by the trades.
The Flash was a failure, so it weakens his momentum to get the film. He is also probably seeing headlines about Reeves joining the DCU and is probably angry at his Batman film being taken away
That’s seems like a possible scenario.
@jamesburg3973 Yea, and I don't want to see him direct the Batman anyway. I hated The Flash a lot and would prefer to see him go back to horror films
I think that would have been a much better concept.
well it seems James Gunn has split himself in three! Superman + Peacemaker and head of DC!!!
What does peter safran do?
Business stuff like financing & other paperwork type stuff & being at the business meetings with WB working stuff out
I'd be more concerned about this of stuff if James Gunn wasn't working on Superman.
Flash was great
The flash was a great movie
John is Canadian. And in Britain we call seasons “series” you’ll find Canada has a crosss of British and American language
@@JoshWallcroft Yup forgot about that and I remember Sherlock being called series 1, series 2 etc.
Ah the DCEU. Where solid directors have their reputation completely tarnished because of factors out of their control
It's not going to confuse the audience. The audience isn't dumb. They can get behind the multiverse. It's fine
That weasel episode just made me angry like if i was in the dcu and heard his origin that would be my origin
This director comment sounds like he's not that hyped about doing this movie honestly, feels more like he's just going to work and doing this thing, not too much passion, which is a problem when doing you know, ART
Now we can all think that even if the movie is nice, it could be much better if he was actually interested
I think the biggest victim of this movie not having a fully passionate developer is how he'll likely portrait the robins that aren't Damian, I don't have much confidence he researched how their differences are if he's just going to work
Ultimately, I believe, Gunn will write and direct the first Batman movie. Especially if Superman is a success.
He might write. Not direct
Get Ray tf out of there, he has no knowledge for anything
I think James Gunn should bring unknown directors to dcu it feel more fresh
Love how Campbell is saying Andy should shut his mouth when Gunn has done nothing but debunk and respond to fans like he spends his life on twitter since he's became CEO of DC Studios despite it leading to massive condradicts like when Gal Gadot said she was working with Gunn and Safran on Wonder Woman 3, only for DC Studios to come out and "debunk" it
If anything Gunn needs to stop commenting to every fan and reporter on twitter, you don't see Kevin Fegie taking the time out of his day to debunk fan rumors like Gunn's terminally online personality does,
James really wants to include Pattinsons Batman and is giving Andy the run around until he finds a definitive answer
Gunns not singularly running the studio... Communication should also be coming from peter Safran
didnt James Gunn said that they were still working on The Batman Pt.
Muschietti should stick to horror movie remakes only.
Hes the best director to make Batman. The fight scenes in the FLASH movie was top notch he really showed what Batman could do fight wise. It was like watching the animated movies come to life. I hate grounded realistic Batman
Weak story execution.
@TheTheoreticalMutant yea, but you gotta admit he showed the best fight style.
@@ShaMagicThat’s not good enough, plenty of other directors can direct good fight scenes. The Flash movie is garbage.
@TheTheoreticalMutanThats not his fault. He put out a movie that was in development hell for so long and then had to deal with WB interfering and medaling in the story as well as Ezra Miller. His Batman stuff was good
I really only have 1 question about this…
Is John a James Gunn fan or not!??!?? 😂
Andy should be in director jail because of the flash anyway
How much of that is actually his fault?
@ maybe like 35% lol WB did him no favors. Wasn’t crazy about the lines
He put out a movie that was in development he'll with WB medaling in with. Not his fault. His Batman stuff was good tho
100. Well said.
Don’t let John convince you that The Flash was anything else but a horrible, soulless movie.
Agree movie was trash
I enjoyed it.
Mid
i actually enjoyed some of it. but the ending of him still moving the cans just ruins the entire movie for me
Why are things either 100% good or 100% bad to people like you? Unironically, grow up.
Ew no please keep Reevesverse separate
Also The Batman 2 isn’t going to suddenly change course to fit the DCU depending on Superman. Their plan for that movie will already be well into motion by the time Superman’s success has been determined.
My guy I could use that same logic and say that if Superman does great (which I think it will) then Gunn gets to have the keys fully and gets to create his own dcu batman and let Matt do his own thing
That’s another way to look at it that many aren’t considering.
Jeremy Saulnier is the new Director
The flash was great and the movie was fresh
David had his Batman movie in the works before the Flash movie was out. He got out a movie that was in development hell and had WB interferance and medaling. His Batman stuff was good. Gunn likes him and the stuff their building
@@blindpsychopath4368 YOu've misunderstoood what I was saying.
I'm talking about their tactic of speaking to the media and announcing things there. The little power play that Affleck did on The Tonight Show. That's what this whole Mushiest situation reminds me of.
@@keshaponso2034 OH ok. I could kinda see that but I don't think it's that bad tho. I just think Andy is saying what Gunn and Matt have said before. The delay thing I'd such a super small thing. I don't think it's that big of a deal. Both Gunn and Andy can be right
Just bring Edgar Wright. He's a perfect director for a lighter Batman. And in line with James Gunn's universe.
Who’s to say Edgar wright wants to make a Batman movie?
Let it be separate 🦇
Why isn't Peter stepping in a handling this shit.
As John alluded to, he's probably preoccupied with more business oriented matters?
This entire part was a huge over reaction tbh.
Hollywood has broken so many people's perspective on the world. Lol
LET TONY GILROY DIRECT AND WRITE BATMAN BRAVE AND THE BOLD AND WE WILL GET THE BEST BATMAN FILM EVER MADE!
Making something of nothing. James Gunn probably is laughing about this. Calm down, acting like it’s the end already..
The end? Getting Andy Muschietti off this movie is the beginning
@@timmaytargaryenhe's not leaving. Deal with it. Gunn likes him and the stuff he's creating
I know right? People need to call down. Stop putting so much trust in these scoopers when they've gotten a lot wrong with James DCU so far
thank god if they get a different director, andy sucks
He's not leaving. He's going to still direct
That your opinion about you think creatures commandos not good. I finish watch it really good
They need to get Andy off this movie idk anyone who wants him to direct this movie. Let him focus on the Derry TV show
Who?
Hes said what Gunn, and Matt have said repeatedly. Pattinson is not dcu batman and the Reeves Batman is Elseworld. Thats it.
I hope they didn't take a page from the Disney (Star Wars) play book oder at DC! 🤣
I really want Andy Muschietti to direct The Brave and the Bold.
finally, some good news from Gunn`s DCU.
Damn he lowkey does, if Marvel didn't ditch Kang. he could look like he could have played the younger version of Jonathan majors's Kang
james gunn is probably going to direct it lol
He may write. Not direct. David's still going to be there. Gunn likes him and the stuff they're doing
@ right..
This sounds much ado about nothing
We want Raimi for Bold and the brave
No
All I care about is robert isnt in the dcu
i'm of the opinion that "the flash," and "batman vs superman" are 2 of the worst dc films.
He wanna get it rolling so Matt reeves don’t take his place
Nah man his Batman movie was in production and in the works before his flash movie came out. If they wanted him gone they wouldve done so by now.
Imo Andy should just stop talking. Lol because he looks worse commenting on it .. cleared he's been fired amd he's trying to save face
Guillermo Del Toro is the only choice.
This is so elementary
Why they would even let him touch it after the godawful Flash movie 🤮 makes no sense..
It was mediocre, Flash was mediocre and had a troubled production... He has yet to make a movie that is outstanding.
