I remember first watching this back in middle school. Since I am now in college, it’s really amazing how Star Wars has changed over the years with new characters and storytelling, even in its space battles. If Disney adopted the old EU books, then we would’ve loved to see much better battles and new planets.

+InSanic Yes, of course. And not only the Battle of Endor, but the Battle of Yavin as well. They look absolutely fantastic! I made the above comment because nowadays it´s quite common to complain about the "terrible CGI" in Star Wars movies. This video gives a direct comparison, and it shows (at least in my mind) that there is hardly a good reason for this. The CGI holds up pretty well against the (admittedly awesome) practical effects. [Not to mention the fact that the newer movies have plenty of practical effects in them as well..]
Seeing these space battles makes me even more exited for Battlefront 3 coming this year along with Episode 7. I just want DICE and EA to take note from these space fights, make them the most realistic space battles in a Star Wars game. Have them be intense like the movies. And maybe they should do it like the PSP game Star Wars Battlefront Elite Squardron, where you're on the ground, you can take a ship and fly into space and vice versa. I can't wait for that game!! And if they want the space fights even more intense and realistic if they can, add a first person option to make it look like you're actually in the ship. That would be fantastic!!!

What I meant, though, is that it seems like even then, the capships keep getting close enough to be able to see the opposing gunners' nose hairs (well, if they weren't wearing helmets or weren't droids, anyway...)

The Prequel scenes are so bloated with things happening that nobody really cared about, but in the original trilogy, you began to get worried every time a rebel pilot or ship was destroyed because it meant that the empire was one step closer to winning.
+Kristian Fischer Do you people honestly always have to say something bad about the prequel trilogy? Besides, in the scale of either battle, the loss of just one ship didn't mean shit. The original trilogy just didn't have the money to represent the rebel fleet in the scale they wanted to.
Brandon Thurber Same thing here. This is pretty much all the Republic has to defend Coruscant. One less pilot meant the CIS was closer to winning. The only difference being that this battle was bigger. However, that point is kind of null seeing as how both battles were immense in scale anyway, forfeiting the value of a single fighters destruction.

Maybe a generation thing, but I even prefer the old special effects. Not so overloaded with useless gimmick. I remember the comment from red letter media that the opening scene of Star Wars- a new hope is so brilliant, there is no way George Lucas had anything to do with it. :-)

I saw yesterday 'the force awakens' and they did many things better than in the prequels but it still not kicked me off the feet. There is no grudge against George Lucas, at least he invented Star Wars, but while he started as a promising director I do not think it's his key asset and the only thing I disliked was to change retroactively scenes from the old movies.

Not sure if you are trolling, but I'll assume that you're serious. Episodes 4, 5 and 6 were made a _long_ time before 1, 2 and 3. That's why 4-5-6 is called "The Original Trilogy" - because those were the first three Star Wars films. 1-2-3 is called "The Prequel Trilogy" - which means that they were made _after_ the original films, but are supposed to take place before them. The chronological order is still 1-2-3-4-5-6. But they made 4-5-6 first, then they waited about 20 years, and _then_ they made 1-2-3. Apparently George Lucas (the creator) didn't feel that the technology needed for 1-2-3 was good enough to begin with (ca. 1977). So instead he began with 4-5-6. Or something like that. I hope that was understandable :)
marcysss93 Because as Obi-Wan says, it was a more civilized age. The galaxy we see in 4-5-6 has been thorn by war and misery. Also, most of the planets we see in 1-2-3 are just more advanced, since they're in the center of the galaxy. While the planets in 4-5-6 are in the "outer rim", the more desolate places, because the rebels need to hide where nobody can find them.

The Prequel scenes are so bloated with things happening that nobody really cared about, but in the original trilogy, you began to get worried every time a rebel pilot or ship was destroyed because it meant that the empire was one step closer to winning.
+Kristian Fischer Do you people honestly always have to say something bad about the prequel trilogy? Besides, in the scale of either battle, the loss of just one ship didn't mean shit. The original trilogy just didn't have the money to represent the rebel fleet in the scale they wanted to.
+CameronJ Orrrrr maybe that was the entire rebel fleet as it should've been and one pilot meant one step closer to loss. Just saying.
Brandon Thurber Same thing here. This is pretty much all the Republic has to defend Coruscant. One less pilot meant the CIS was closer to winning. The only difference being that this battle was bigger. However, that point is kind of null seeing as how both battles were immense in scale anyway, forfeiting the value of a single fighters destruction.

Maybe a generation thing, but I even prefer the old special effects. Not so overloaded with useless gimmick. I remember the comment from red letter media that the opening scene of Star Wars- a new hope is so brilliant, there is no way George Lucas had anything to do with it. :-)

+fundhund62 That sounds very hurt, apologies for putting your stomach upside down. In general I think my fascination for Star Wars is really centered around the old stuff. I saw yesterday 'the force awakens' and they did many things better than in the prequels but it still not kicked me off the feet. There is no grudge against George Lucas, at least he invented Star Wars, but while he started as a promising director I do not think it's his key asset and the only thing I disliked was to change retroactively scenes from the old movies.

George Lucas was (and is) under no obligation to make movies the way certain people would like to. If you (or RedLetterMedia for that matter) have a different taste in dialogue, directing or acting, that´s fine. But why shit on the man so much?! You can hardly watch any footage from the prequels (let alone George Lucas interviews) without someone hating either on him or the films he made. Why do people take those films so personal? They would have liked the prequels to be different? That´s fine, but why don´t they just respect Lucas´ decision to tell the story the way he wanted? At the end of the day, they are just movies, and nobody has to like them.

Nice montage, but you definitively should have used Star Wars musics. It kind of weird and unpleasant to hear another music in Star Wars, when John Williams fit to the movies perfectly. Even though I love Two Steps From Hell.

I never understood this...Why do Episodes 1, 2 and 3 have better Graphics than Episodes 4, 5 and 6.

Not sure if you are trolling, but I'll assume that you're serious.
Episodes 4, 5 and 6 were made a _long_ time before 1, 2 and 3. That's why 4-5-6 is called "The Original Trilogy" - because those were the first three Star Wars films. 1-2-3 is called "The Prequel Trilogy" - which means that they were made _after_ the original films, but are supposed to take place before them.
The chronological order is still 1-2-3-4-5-6. But they made 4-5-6 first, then they waited about 20 years, and _then_ they made 1-2-3.
Apparently George Lucas (the creator) didn't feel that the technology needed for 1-2-3 was good enough to begin with (ca. 1977). So instead he began with 4-5-6. Or something like that.
I hope that was understandable :)

marcysss93 Because as Obi-Wan says, it was a more civilized age. The galaxy we see in 4-5-6 has been thorn by war and misery.
Also, most of the planets we see in 1-2-3 are just more advanced, since they're in the center of the galaxy. While the planets in 4-5-6 are in the "outer rim", the more desolate places, because the rebels need to hide where nobody can find them.
