Looks awesome. Nice and simple. You don't have a desk though. You could easily install a Logan swivel base with a little table top on. It would fold away nicely and give you some surface area. I couldn't fit one in my van 😕. Also, as other comments have suggested: a diesel heater will change your life!
Hey Buddy, Thanks a mill. I've been looking for options for a table, must check that one out... and ya Diesel seems to be for the win :-).. Thanks for stopping by
Thanks for the behind the scenes tour. Love a good camper van. 😊 Was thinking about your cushion issue. Looks like it extends to just underneath the window. How about attaching a loop to the back of the cushion, and one of those Command Strip hooks to the window hardware. Then just hook the loop, voila! I’m loving that vacuum too. Might have to buy one for my tent 😂.
Hiya Barbara, ya I ended up going down that route kinda, I attached a small piece to the van so as to not have much damage when I eventually remove it and it’s seems to be holding fine ! That vacuum is perfect for the tent too for sure :-) Thanks a million
Really great build, Darren. ❤ I built my own micro camper van on a Citroen Jumpy last year, and it's the best tool for my photography expeditions, just as you said.
Darren, As a fellow snapper and relatively new campervan owner (three years now) I would recommend just a few things. (1) A roof vent. (2) plenty of water storage & (3) a diesel heater! I know Valentia very well, and driving down to the lighthouse is no easy feat in a LWB van.
Thank you very much John! Ya the vent is for sure on my list, I’ve plenty of water for sure! I’m not convinced about the diesel heaters to be honest, but can see the benefits alright ! How often have you had to use yours ?
Darren, I only occasionally use the heater, but when I do I really need it. It certainly makes 'wild camping' winter trips much more comfortable. After a long drive to the Hebrides, it was great to know I had some heat behind me. By the way, we have a mutual friend in the Kingdom - Dave T in Firies.
@johnwesson2793 ahhh Dave is a legend :-) I have my small heater which I showed in the vid and it worked perfectly for the rare and short time I needed it, altho thankfully we don’t get the same cold here as theHebrides :-)
This a very nice spartan setup. You did a great job. You did forget to show us your table. I also like the way you supported Gavin and Adam with their wares. 😊 Thank you for the tour.
Hi Darren, a great video buddy! And I absolutely love your van. That means, just one thing you did wrong, maybe: your steering wheel is on the wrong side 😆 Just kidding, it's really cool how much space you have, although there is everything inside you need. That arm is cool for your tablet. Congrats to that amazing van. Definitely the ultimate gear! Thank you for sharing! Christian
Hi Darren, I'm currently doing up my van but I have to say, the idea of the camera hotshoe spirit level is a fantastic idea that I am now going to blatently plagerise 🤣good job with the van mate, take care, Steve.
🤣🤣🤣 I use tent, even in winter and I am only 62 years old. Living in Östersund gives me a lot of options to spend time in the mountains. Thank you for making my day 😂
Your van looks the real deal well done Now in my 70's i find I need my comfort and use the likes of Airbnb and Sykes cottages where i get a house to myself, hence have breaks in different areas
Thank you very much for your suggestion ! I had considered Velcro but it would end up doing too much damage to the walls I feel! The magnet won’t rip fibers out each use but I need to find a way for sure :-)
Great job I couldn't believe the room you have ! If you put a seat belt or two on the wall seat similar to the way a camper van is done would that pass and allow you to put in your captains chair ??
Thanks for the video, Darren. A van is not in the works but is desired. Old VW buses didn't have the middle seat, I've had a couple. Are they still air-cooled engines?
Thanks for the info Ken, The 2.0-liter TDI engine on VW T6. 1 models comes standard with an indirect charge air cooling circuit, where the charge air is cooled by a water-cooled intercooler.
Thanks for sharing Darren! Nice job! By the way, what is the meaning of your saying at the end of each video? schl longa fall? Just asking from the other side of the big pond LOL. Sacramento CA USA
Thanks Robert, how to avoid damaging the walls is the challenge! If it’s direct onto the wall then it will tear the fibres each time and if I put a corresponding strip on to it then that will rip off the fibres when removing it
if you use a Velcro button or tab, you put one permanently on the wall and cushion back. Then you are only pulling the button or tab apart. I have used these on boats and in cars.@@DarrenJSpoonley
Very nice & set up well, where is the ensuite 😂 What about a type of tie down straps for long pillow or if you can handle it strap it laying down when travelling. Only small clip on wall. Same as they use in caravans.
Thanks a million Mike !! The challenge is how to avoid damaging the walls! If I go direct onto the wall then it will rip out fibres each time and if I put a corresponding strip on to it then that will tear off fibres when removing it :-(
I had considered this but it would damage the walls trying to remove it if it didn’t work, I even considered Velcro direct to the walls but that’s also going to destroy it even faster

Brilliant job Darren very cleverly designed especially for travelling some distance for a sunrise shot ect.

With out a doubt it's the ultimate bit of gear for landscape photography! Cracking van mate...I have van envy!
Thanks a lot , really appreciate that Pal

Thanks Buddy, the steering on the "right" side you mean :0)
Great job, in the process of doing one too. Keep on shooting

Thanks very much Steve, best of luck with your own build
Darren, one more tip. Wet-wipes. You can't beat a wet-wipe weekend!
Haha! I have those too and are game changers !! Not like the rough and rough John Wayne Sh*t tickets 😂😂
Nice! I prefer my MTB packed with all the necessary gears 😉
Can you sleep on that ? 😂😂
🤣🤣🤣 I use tent, even in winter and I am only 62 years old. Living in Östersund gives me a lot of options to spend time in the mountains. Thank you for making my day 😂
Tasty job on the van 👍
Thank you very much ! I told ya I would get one one day :-)

Airbnb for the win for sure Stuart :-) Thanks for watching Delighted you enjoyed it
Thanks for posting. I'm always interested in vehicles that photographers use.
You’re very welcome ! Delighted you enjoyed it Thanks for watching
You did an amazing job on it Darren. Literally everything you need. Super Job👏👏👏
Thanks a million John!
Would a large strip of velcro on the back seat cover be a possibility to attach to the carpeted side panel to hold up the seat back.
Thank you very much for your suggestion ! I had considered Velcro but it would end up doing too much damage to the walls I feel! The magnet won’t rip fibers out each use but I need to find a way for sure :-)
Well done and well organized!
Glad you liked it Dennis
Good work Darren - a home from home!
Thank you very much ! It sure has been alright

Thanks Pat, if only it were that simple, however rules, laws and regulations have other ideas about seat belts in the back :-(
It's a pity alright I'd afiat dobro when my first fella was born I'd to sell it when the second fella came along

Looks amazing...do you ever have problems in where to park overnight? Have you had any issues in the past from being told to move on?
Thank you very much ! No haven’t had a single issue yet
Space is critical in a van. There must be another use for Gavin’s book! Plate? Tray?
Hahah !! Dart Board ? :-)

:-) :-)
🚐📷 Now that's what I call a 'van-tastic' ride (sorry). I really wish VW had their vans in Canada.
Thanks a million Pal! They’re now available in Canada? Why ?
@@DarrenJSpoonley Not sure why, there are vehicles in Europe we never see over here at all for some reason.
