Wow, the van looks awesome. Loving the nice clean fresh look and you have utilised the space beautifully. Would be nice to see you guys do a few camping vlogs especially in the UK's lush green countryside.
Thank you so much for your kind words and support! We're thrilled that you love the van and appreciate its fresh and clean look - we really worked hard to make the most of the space, so it means a lot to hear that! 😊
We absolutely love the idea of doing some camping vlogs in the UK's lush green countryside-stay tuned because that's definitely on our radar! 🌿🏕️
We’re also super excited to share some amazing trips we have coming up, both local adventures and some in stunning Scandinavia! 🛤️🇸🇪 These vlogs will dive deep into the details, including prices for food, drink, and all those practical things that people really want to know before heading to a destination. We'll also be sharing our experiences with a hire car and even some mini cruises-perfect for those curious about what it's really like to explore these spots!
If that sounds interesting, be sure to keep an eye out for those videos. Thanks again for following along on our journey, and we can’t wait to share more with you! 🌍✨
Hi, Do you know the maker of the tile effect backsplash in Kitchen/shower areas? it looks very nice Thank you.
Hi Peter!
Thanks for your question about the panelling inside our Sprinter van!
We used Reco Surfaces wall panels for the interior shower and kitchen areas, which you can find here: www.recosurfaces.com/ These panels are a fantastic choice for van conversions because they’re lightweight, durable, and easy to work with. They’re much better than tiles for a campervan due to their minimal weight and flexibility, which is crucial when you’re aiming to keep the van as light as possible while also ensuring it can handle movement and vibrations.
Other Benefits of Wall Panels Over Tiles
• Lightweight: Helps reduce the overall weight of the van compared to tiles, which can be heavy and require additional support.
• Flexible and Durable: Tiles can crack due to the van’s vibrations, while these panels are designed to handle movement.
• Waterproof: Perfect for areas like kitchen splashbacks or near water fixtures.
• Easy to Clean: Just a quick wipe down and they’re good as new
How to Cut, Lay, and Fix the Panels
1. Cutting: Use a sharp Stanley knife, a jigsaw, or a fine-tooth handsaw to cut the panels to your desired size. For curved areas, a jigsaw works best for precision.
2. Fixing to Surfaces: The panels are lightweight enough to attach to a variety of surfaces using high-strength grab adhesive. We used Gripfill or Evo-Stik Strong Stuff, which worked really well for securing the panels.
3. Sealing Edges: Use a waterproof silicone sealant (e.g., Dow Corning 785) around edges and corners to prevent moisture from seeping in.
Tips for Achieving a Professional Finish
• Measure Twice, Cut Once: Always double-check your measurements before cutting to avoid wasting material.
• Prepare the Surface: Make sure the surface is clean, dry, and free of dust or grease before applying adhesive.
• Lay Panels Flat: Press them firmly into place to ensure even adhesion, and use a roller or your hands to smooth out any air pockets.
• Join Panels Seamlessly: Many panels have a tongue-and-groove system, making it easy to join them together for a seamless finish.
Other UK-Based Options to Consider
While we love the panels from Reco Surfaces, there are plenty of other UK-based firms that offer great options for van conversions:
1. Showerwall Panels (Showerwall)
• Specialises in waterproof wall panels designed for wet areas.
2. Multipanel Wet Wall Panels (Multipanel)
• Offers lightweight, waterproof panels perfect for campervan interiors.
3. Dumaplast Panels (Dumaplast)
• Durable wall cladding that’s easy to maintain and install.
All of these companies provide lightweight, waterproof, and easy-to-work-with panels that are ideal for campervan conversions.
If you have any other questions about the van or the build process, let me know-happy to help!
