Finally someone's calling out Big Harma. This video will get demonetized, but hopefully it won't be removed by youtube.
Open studio will get disappeared if they're not careful.
Why? This is tongue-in-cheek pro-Pfizer.
I wish they had virtual piano!
Adam is one of the best teachers I have seen here on YT. So knowledgeable and entertaining at the same time.
I completely agree, one of the best. I'm so glad I found the channel, and I'm a member of open studio jazz.
Congrats on the format. Great mix of theory and ear training. I hereby nominate you to a UA-cam piano teaching grammy.
The comedy in these is underated. opening with "wake up shheple" is hilarious 😂
The most relevant jazz theory video of our time
Love how you kept the humor going at the end 19:37 I was 😂. Brilliant combo of ear training with theory too!!!! And the Mu chord sounds SOOOOO hip 🎉
Warning! Juicy transition chords may cause tingling of skin and spine, breathlessness, overwhelming euphoria, stank face, and excessive lacrimation
Why isn’t there a jazz stank face emoji yet?
@@maciek_d 😩
can be solved with some safe and effective basic major triads, and diatonic chords with no transitions.
I follow all of your lessons here and as a guitarist, this really makes sense and helps us to "fill in" between all of the published chords when playing solo or accompanying a singer! Thank you once again!
The intro is just amazing. The humour, the music with the voiceover, the transitions. Such a great mood. Perfectly done. #DONTTRUSTHARMA
The title got me to watch this video
Love this. I'm self taught (many hours a day trying to figure things out) and this is so much in line with what I'm teaching myself right now.
Thank you.
Sweet. I'm just sad you left out the secondary diminished chords (half-dim7, dim7, dim maj7). You can also approach a diatonic chord with an altered dominant from a half-step below which is prevalent in gospel music. Beautiful lesson.
Your video confirms that combining music theory study with ear training is powerful! Brilliant! 🎹
Adam I literally love you for this video. I absolutely LOVE the mix of theoretical instruction and ear training in context. Perfect video and introduced me to a new concept (the beautiful Mu chord!). Please do more of this kind of interactive stuff
oh man glad to see you again. happy belated new year as I didn't t get the chance. Love you man, keep on with all the good work
One of the best harmony videos in UA-cam at all. Really, really good job! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
someone needed to come out and say it
Flipping love this! Great examples to work with. Loving your channel, such awesome content 👏 👌
I love this concept so much. Im actually improving my melodica playing through just learning piano from you bro it's really fun and personal you way of teaching and it's free as
in gospel they sometimes do C D7 Gm .. which is ECEG F#CEbF#A to Gm .. OR THEY DO : EDG#CEG F#EBbDF#A to GDABbCFA which is a fancy 451
hilarious title and intro already, excited to get into these chords
I love this channel. Unrivaled content.
Beautifully and humorously explained. Well delivered. Thanks so much!
Hell of an intro😂! Super creative! Bravo 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Simple, clear, useful, beautiful and fun. Thank you so much!
One of your most useful and best videos!
man you are changing my life with these lessons fro example the lessons about big harma hates these chords the sec dominants and tritone substitution these kinds of chords i had a problem to figure out before thank you one more time i will be open for more of these kinds of lessons
THIS! is so gold. Thank you Adam
A lot of these moves I been using most of my 20 plus years of playing!!! The way this is being taught i can intentionally have better placement!!!
WOW.... that was great and so instructive. What a sound !!!.Thank you for sharing this... It's really making me a better pianist.
Thanks for sharing 🎹 🎶, appreciate the theory lesson. Along with the ear training. Going to to try this next time I am practicing..
Super helpful video! Many thanks!
I forgot about the Mu chord. Thank you for bringing it up in this video.
Big Harma... Love it!
Really awesome tutorial. Well done man! 👍
This cause is 10/10 worth going to jail for
Hilarious. And great content! I'd add approaching any majors with a 7#9 a half step below, it's just something I became addicted to. Thanks as always!
The open studio comedy team at it again!!
This is great! Especially like the examples and touch of ear training.
Awesome content. Big Harma has lost control of the narrative thanks to brave people like you sharing your wisdom! The Mu chord in particular is a gem- not a super uncommon chord to me but the application/ context is new to me. Thank you.
Same
These videos are such a joy, thank you ☺️❤️🎹
This is awesome! Moo zart would be delighted with this progression:)
Very important stuff to know Adam! Well taught as usual!
Love the ear training piece! I was wrong on most of them, points to more time I need to spend on ear work!
Adam and the open studio crew just keep getting better! This is golden
I guess the E mu chord is only found in Australia.
Good opening. 👍
Awesome tutorial. Thanks and greetings from Berlin!
Bellissima lezione
Grazie mille
Ciao dall'Italia.
If one can't explain something in a simple way, you don't know it well enough. Adam really does.
so inspirational, thanks again man
So great ! Thx so much ! 🙂
Brilliant!
Satire used to be directed against the powerful, but what do I know? I'm just a crazy conspiracy theorist.
Excellent chords, though!
great leesson ! thank you!
I cast a bad spell on Big harma!!! COURSED
Master teacher!! Thank you.
Great guys thank you!!
Yeah man! That was beautiful. I was hip to the subs except for that Mu chord, but my voicings don't sound like yours.I've got work to do, thanks.
Thank you very much Adam :)
Best teacher I never had!
Great. Thanks so much)
Big Harma actively suppresses these transition chords...like they want us to forget they even exist...but we WILL NOT comply! Yo, Big Harma - clean up on aisle 5 cause things just got...JUICY!
Beautiful
Thank you,thank you,thank you. Best teacher ever!❤
Great one, mate. You're COOL!!!!🌹😎🌹Great title,great spoof intro. YOU BE KA-RAZY 😎
Adam thank you very much for your videos... grettings since San luis Potosi Mexico ( St. Louis Blues xd)
You just got me. I’m now a forever fan.
Thank you in perpetuity throughout the universe.
Love the simplicity of this
thank you adam
This is hilarious! And informative
Adam, you're the man, man!
Adam, you are funny!!! Loved the video!
Brilliant
hilarious ! ! ! great stuff
Beautiful satire!
That Ab7 to Gm7 voicing on 9:48 is wide! Can't really play that with my left hand. Reminded me of Rachmaninoff, mentioned earlier in the video...
And that Mu chord, what a wonderful, fresh sound!
this is brilliant
This is the way. Humor, clear theory, consistency of examples (1-4), song examples (Stevie Wonder), exercises, and ways to integrate it. I'm a guitar player and found this so useful.
I think the mu chromatic approach sounds modern because the added 2 is often not in the traditional scale you'd use with a secondary dominant. Like with C - A/C# - Dm you'd most likely use D *harmonic minor* (with Bb) during the A. But Aadd2/C# has *B natural*. (Although classical has the D melodic minor scale containing B, in practice a classical piece would never _sustain B_ over an A chord in D minor.)
Nice one
Loved this lesson. Take that big harma
This is hilarious. You rock. Thank you. 😂😂😂
Open studio standing up for working class musicians😂!!! I can dig it!!! Thanks guys!!! Cheers
And yes, a good time was actually had by all! Thank you!
The opening progression. Kinda has a Brazilian theme. Couple descending notes.
Still can't work on a cruise ship without collaborating with big harma!😩
Oh Adam I love you
Adam you make it so simple to play cool harmony. Plus free PDF! Better than my college music degree!
Thank you so much! You guys are awesome. More power
Really great lesson. But for us mere mortals with developing ears, the piano roll would be great so we could verify that the extensions and voicings match what we’re hearing in our head.
Clever!
lmfaooooo ur nuts bro i love it big harma took my baby
Hi Adam - I have a question about the secondary dominant (D7) at 4:00. I'm a trumpet player and play note after note rather than chords so forgive me, but I don't understand why an Ab and Eb are in your D7 chord. Help please?
love you
“Wake-up sheeple” LOLLLLLLLL
at the moment technically unable to donate best tutorials, ever (!) seen @YT; make it easy, please, with one button click .. visible during the video
OMG! We need an episode of Peter and Adam talking about music conspiracy theories. One Caveat: The set needs to feel like a fox news broadcast ( Open News ) But it should be educational and those of us who get the jokes should be laughing hard. Adam and Peter, i beg of you both... We need this. Y'all are funny as hell and both of you have impressive dead-pan.
Ngl I think comping while talking is super useful to get you used to feeling the beat without thinking about it.
