That's my main reason for staying sober. My wife and my parents and my siblings. I went to an inpatient rehab for 7.5 weeks for cocaine addiction only 3 months after I started dating my wife. She could have cut her losses and moved on since we were so early on in our relationship but she stuck with me and set aside time everyday to answer my phone calls once I got phone call privileges and drove 2.5 hours once a week to take me out to lunch when I got day pass and visitor privileges. We'll have been together 7 years in March and married for 3 now and she's my rock and my best friend. And now we're at a place in life where we are talking about having kids. I might not love myself as much as I should and life hasn't been anywhere close to perfect but I love her so much that I'd never forgive myself for messing it up. Been sober 79 months. To anyone that stumbles across this comment that struggles with addiction and self-worth, someone out there genuinely loves you and cares about you, and depending on your life circumstances you might not have that person in your life yet, but they are out there. this brought me to tears. Growing up, my dad worked his ass off as a single dad not only to raise us but to even have the opportunity to raise us. A year late but hope Nick is pursuing his goals while also having one of the best blessings of raising a child.
Thank you to whoever told Secret Santa about this man! This will make it so much easier to care for his baby and also be able to make more money in the future! With a baby, get insurance on the computer! lol! Love to everyone involved in this, they make me so happy every time I watch them! Getting sober is not easy, I also got help from AA and it has been such a gift! For those thinking you can't, you can!
His story hit home for me. As a addict in recovery myself for 1 year and nine months, i know what a struggle it can be in very stressful situations. I know that situations like this man is in, would've made many addicts relapse, even after 5 years of being clean and sober. But this man is strong, the dedication towards his daughter, the love he has for her, is what will make him stay clean and sober for a long long time to come. It makes me proud to see how strong this man mentally is. Thank you secret santa, for showing that it doesn't matter what background someone has, and that everyone deserves a break in life, no matter what. Thank you Nate and the East Idaho News team, for helping the secret santa bless people in the most selfless act someone can do. Much love and greetings from The Netherlands!

This young man deserves this! He’s working so hard! God bless you secret Santa! Yes I hope Nate and the crew enjoys their pizza!
God bless yhis young father. He has worked so hard and come so far. He is a blessing to his community as E Idaho news is
I started crying and soon as Nate said "we're here for you" between that, and Nicks face 🥹😭🥹
I love Nick handing the box back to Nate each time.
🤣 He clearly DOES watch like he said and didn't need Nate to tell him he will hold the box and give it back!!
This is a MAN, doing all he possibly can to make his childs life better and fixing his mistakes
The best part of this story is that there's a secret Santa in the East Idaho area who committed 1 million dollars to help the needy people in the area. That's the real Santa this world needs. I hope all billionaires in this world would do the same and act like this Secret Santa.
He probably gets judged over his past life, so glad he is being rewarded for what he is doing now.
This help will change his life and get Nick a long way towards the future he is working towards
So proud of this man! Thank you, secret santa!!!
GOD is with You Buddy and He will NEVER let You down.
I really want that to be true
this brought me to tears. Growing up, my dad worked his ass off as a single dad not only to raise us but to even have the opportunity to raise us. A year late but hope Nick is pursuing his goals while also having one of the best blessings of raising a child.
What an amazing man and father……his daughter will grow up strong and loved….
I hope Nick continues down the path he is on. It's good for him, his daughter and the community. You have to root for a guy who shows this much heart.
Everyone who is watching and going through trials of your own, God bless you and as this man said, "KEEP PUSHING FORWARD."
Here I am a grown ass man getting choked up. Love to see the right people who are working hard and just down on their luck get a helping hand.
I watched this 9 months ago, I cried then. I’m watching it again and, yes, I’m crying
😂😂 that's funny. My interpretation is, that you are made out of Heart. 🍻🇺🇲
Addicts DO recover! Where there is a heartbeat, there is HOPE! Please be kind to each other.
As a current struggling alcoholic I am proud of your accomplishment and thank you for sharing!
Merry Christmas from Las Vegas!
I have six years. I’m finally back on my feet comfortably. I hope you have support from your family. People don’t realize long it takes and how hard it is to rebuild your whole entire life. Stay the course. The devil will make it easy to go back to him. Keep pushing. Merry Christmas and I pray for many blessings in the New Year.
You are strong too! 😊
Certainly a deserving recipient and a great Dad.
With what this guys been through, he'll make a great social worker and counselor. His daughter will be so proud of him. Thank you, secret Santa and thank GOD for organizations (sponsors) and people He's put in place to be a blessing to those in need.
This man is good in his heart, Im glad drugs didnt take him from our world. Many blessings to him and I hope he achieves his degree in the social work field.
I hope you read these comments, Nick, there are so many people cheering you on! If you ever feel like you can't keep going, just remember how proud your daughter will be when she grows up and finds out what you did for your lives together. My father has his doctorate in social work and was a professor and writer of social work for decades. He always said that the people with the hardest stories made the best social workers. You are on a great path.
All the best to Nick on his recovery journey!!!! Secret Santa!! You hit this one, outta the park, dude!!! I can't think of a more well-deserving young man than him!!! Bless your hearts, Nate and, East Idaho News!!!
Blessings and good luck for Nick and his daughter
started crying when his first reaction to that check was "so many other people need it"
all the confirmation you need that this money went to the right person. his daughter is blessed to have such a superhero of a father.
my mother in law raised 2 wonderful boys, alone on pizza delivery tips
As a member of the 2% of addicts that break their own vicious cycle. Congrats to you sir!!! It's not easy but you're crushing it. Your daughter will be so happy to have a clean sober present dad. Merry Christmas!!! ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Well done to you too. I hope he maintains his lifestyle and has the life he wants with his daughter and also completes his education so he can become a Social Worker.
@katbar6066 thank you and w love support and his attitude he will make it, and will help many others.
What a hard working guy. Two jobs, education and raising a baby….well deserved guy and that’s going to be his biggest tip delivering that pizza 🍕 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊
What an amazing man. You can see how big his heart is ❤
God bless everyone involved with this 🙏🏽😢🤎🤎✝️
This is one where I would like to see an update how Nick and his daughter are doing
What a wonderful father and human being. You can tell he loves his little girl so much. Thank you Secret Santa. You always seem to know the ones that really need the help.
The recipients of these secret Santa gifts are so incredibly humble. Brings your faith in humanity back, where it should always be. Thank goodness for the generosity of the secret Santa and all those who do kind deeds towards their fellow man and woman.
95% of people are wonderful. Unfortunately, our planet is run by mostly psychopaths, bent on money, power & control.
😭 What a guy. Now, he can catch his breath and hopefully spend more time with his daughter. Having no rent for a year will take a huge load off. What a deserving person. It sure seems like he will be an excellent social worker. Wishing you the best, Nick!!!
❤️🌲❤️🌟❤️🌲❤️
Words from a former recovery guy, clean for 30 yrs. Never go back to where you've been when you have come this far.
Congrats on beating the drugs!!! 😊
No matter how hard some people have it, so many of these people say that others need help more than them. We are all here to lift each other up. Love is the only way forward ♥️💥🙏
It's the ones that say others deserve it so much more that actually need it the most. They are the most humble.
I’m a grown man and this made me cry you can tell this guy is a great guy I’m happy secret Santa gifted him, specially being a recovering addict, I’ve been struggling with my addiction of alcohol for 8 years it’s not easy so I salute him, I’m 31 by the way kids, house etc but I’ve still haven’t managed to exclude alcohol out of my life, it’s hard, so again salute to him
Sending you strength. 🙏
@@RebekahCurielAlessi thank you god bless you
hang in there, one day at a time, addiction sucks
28 Months sober after 40 years, Life is good. Keep at it.
Don't worry people, I've got enough water works going on for ALL OF US!!!!!❤❤❤
Well, I was afraid I would run out, LOL! What a way to start the day, huh? I always blubber my eye makeup off…
It’s Christmas Eve. I saved this one for now. I don’t know why, but I did. After years and years of trying to get my family to stop the Christmas Gift Insanity, we finally did… and instead I watch East Idaho’s Secret Santa give the gifts that keep on giving to do many beyond the recipient. I didn’t cry for Nick, but my hands hurt from clapping. Oh, this was s-o-o-o good!
🎄🎁🦌🎅🏼🎉🎆💫👏🏻
Great job, Nick! Single parenthood isn't easy, especially when it's dropped on you with zero warning. You deserve these gifts and I hope that you and your daughter have a wonderful and healthy life together!
This guy deserved that gift. He's doing a great job, wish him the best.
I'm not going to cry again. I'm not going to cry again. I'm not going to cry again. Too late. Watching this reminds me of that saying, "most people don't want a hand out, they just need a hand up." This is what the "Secret Santa" does for so many people that really need that little extra umph, or the one light of hope that tells them, "you can do it." Nick, you are an awesome and amazing Dad that is doing everything for your precious baby girl, so I know you will accomplish every goal you make for yourself. God has blessed you in so many ways, but that baby girl is the best of all! May God continue to Bless and protect you and your baby girl always.
Secret Santa, EIN and all others valuable person precious work always and Love from Bharat (India) 🇮🇳
To this young man I say I'm so proud of you! I'm retired social worker for adult and child welfare for 25 years as well as a dementia trainer. You've chosen a very hard, and stressful line of work that won't pay you in dollars what your worth, but the knowledge of what you do to help folks makes it worth it. Keep pushing and trying. You are to be admired for raising your little girl yourself and doing the right thing by her. She will be a daddies girl for sure! I wish you and her all the luck and blessings in the world. Thank you Secret Santa and news team for helping this young man and his baby girl. They so deserve it. Merry Christmas to all! Much love from this Alabama girl! ❤
A good, deserving man. Keep up the great work with your recovery and volunteering.
What a beautiful young man and amazing father. He deserves these gifts. Bless his family.
Nick I'm praying for your success with your career endeavor. Stay strong and keep moving forward. That baby girl needs her daddy. Thank you, Secret Santa, Nate, and helpers. Wishing everyone a Very Merry Christmas! 🎄🎄
A very Merry Christmas to you, too!☃️🎄

Im thrilled this dafd was rewarded for his hard work. We know he will be an awesome dad, student, and counselor. Merry Christmas.
Nick, if you’re reading this. I hope you know that there’s someone in the other side of the world who’s proud of you and amazed by your resilience. Keep moving forward brother! I wish you all the best for you and your baby. Merry Christmas! 💛
