Hello UA-cam, I am Malcolm Merlyn. As most of you are aware, there are a lot of different scammers out there and these include Nigerian prince email scammers, Indian tech support scammers, IRS scammers and others. They have been around for over 10 years now and they don’t seem to be going anywhere. After getting a lot of calls, sometimes very early in the morning I have decided enough is enough. If the government won’t shut down these pests then I will.
I created some virtual machines and started calling scammers using a fake caller ID. The calls were quite hilarious so I started uploading them on UA-cam; this was great as I was raising awareness about scams while also earning money. In total I have called scammers over ten thousand times in the past year and a half. I created a number of programs to annoy them including a call flooder that can call the scammers many times per minute which overloads their phones.

My 77 year old mother was ripped off $150 by people like these.
She's a brilliant lady, does the newspaper crossword puzzle in a flash, is a New Yorker who's seen & heard countless scams, etc...but like many her age, has zero tech experience.
Only 150? She got lucky
It's really sad to hear that this is a crime but unfortunately most of the criminals are never arrested by Indian Police people can easily bribe and get off
problem is, old people arns informed not to ansver nor do any transactions over phone or internet. Plus income level is higher than many other countries.... We had scammers who call like to old people and tell they family memmber was in a car crash or something like that and they need money to send them. Or russian ransomware that ive see one hacker use in video....those are spammed in EU alot by russians. But not many people will ever tell any info over the phone or allow acess to the computer....
But russian hackers with tha transomware doesnt have any luck here, cos not many people here keep information on PC and its no problem to reinstall OS than paying any amount to them....

Kudos to windows defender for actually detecting and silently rendering the virus inoperable.
Actually the only reason it didn’t function was because the other file was not present with it. His security systems did not cause it to not work. He was playing it off like maybe the file transfer rendered it corrupt, but in reality it was just a way for him to get him to click it with that other file in place, without creating suspicion, as he told him to move it to desktop first, painting that other file to be not a big deal.
So it wasn't disabled?
@@Sffker you're right, if you pay attention, he actually SCANS the file with windows defender and it comes up clean! nothing detected! (before changing settings) 5:30 right-clicks onto "scan with windows defender"
Also theres a patch released that stopped the exploit anyway. So if the computer was fully updated it would be fine. Although thats why it hurt many places and organisations like the nhs who was running on mainly windows xp at the time and were no longer getting security patches
Edit: it was released before the first time wannacry was being detected on computers.

I’m in my late 70s and was almost scammed a year ago. They were so convincing but for some reason had a bad feeling so unplugged my computer. What really hurt is since l told my family they don’t trust my with their computer or iPad. It is very difficult when you don’t get out much and not current on new technology so thank you for what you do. God Bless

Keep up the good work! I enjoy listening to the scammers reactions when the realize they are the ones that have been had, versus the ppl they are trying to victimize.
Most of these videos don't satisfy me. The scammers moan as though they've merely been inconvenienced, like they'll be up and running again in no time.

WannaCry was a CryptoWorm dude..it has the ability to propagate itself via a transport mechanism (active scans for other vulnerable systems) so sit back, grab a Beer, and enjoy!
It is called a replicating worm I believe.
What really should happen is a much deeper process of figuring out where the call center is located, finding their data on who they have scammed, getting people their money back, and ensuring that the scammers lose everything they earned from it.
If they keep making money, they'll keep scamming.

Now, there is already a youtuber who does that and men i think he's a hero and a saint and while yes i wish everyone went as far as to damage their network i think it would greatly reduce their activity if the business became too much of a hassle to run. In one video (I think the one you're mentioning) he found data on how much they've scammed from people.. in that one, they scammed like 500,000+ from people. They make like 30k per month doing this. So messed up.

There’s no way this scammer didn’t know what WannaCry was the entire time. He played you, he was clearly on a VM and honestly didn’t care.
The file name should have been changed to disguise it.

I'm not sure at all how hackers are meant to deal with virtual machines, though. It really is pretty much impossible to touch them if they have VM Ware. It doesn't mean that these videos aren't still valuable. It shares with the viewers the specific methods that scammers are using to gain access to their information so that the viewers can better protect themselves and their family members. Knowledge is power, folks. An ounce of prevention goes a long way. Please teach your family members (particularly elderly and less tech savvy) about how these attacks are carried out, and have them call you immediately if they ever receive suspicious solicitations.

My dad was ripped off 4 years ago when I waS AT WORK AND HE TOLD ME ABOUT ..THE IT guy at mt work place knew about these scams and set up my computer with everything I needed...I ran the wanna cry virus thru their whole NTEWORK at the call center and shut them Down!!!!
