The Phantom certainly "knows" the SA-8. I know this because I have often fought an SA-8 with shrikes for training purposes. But you can see that especially in the kneeboard the "8" stands for an SA-8 as you can see very well at 07:24 (in the game there is only one SA-8). What you see at 04:32 is probably the SA-13, which the system doesn't recognize.
Thanks for this video! Fun fact -- I worked on tail number GA 633 as an EW flightline worker. We were responsible for the AN/ALR-46, AN/ALE-40 as well as the AN/ALQ-119 jamming pod. The 20th TFTS was responsible for training Luftwaffe pilots in the operation of the F-4E and all tail numbers in the 600 series belonged to the Luftwaffe. IIRC, we had 6 of them. The RHAW system was updatable -- the Receiver and Signal Processor units were mounted amidship in the fuselage under panel 185L. The updates were applied via PROM chips in the Signal Processor, so -- Poosh, you are correct. It would be interesting if Heat Blur made that a programmable option. I do have one question that has been bugging me -- What is up with the "Wow" guy? Who is that? ;-)
I still don't quite understand the meaning of the various tones, it doesn't seem like the newer RWR can distinguish between new threat, radar search, radar tracking, missile tracking. It seems that there are only new threat and missile launch tones, and there is no continuous reminder, which always makes me think that the surrounding is safe. And the handoff function doesn't seem to be correct yet?
I am still confused why the ALR-46 in the Phantom won't detect missile launches from air born targets. I tested against a MIG-25 and various other aircraft with the ALR-46 update and still got no air born missile launches, only nails. I don't know if the aircraft is not supposed to have that in the game or if it is still in test or bugged. If you know anything about this, can you please tell me if its just not released yet or is just meant to not detect air launches. Thank you.
Back in the day when I was a B-52 tail gunner (back when B-52s had tail guns) I had an ALR-46 at my station.
A valued warning system for a beautiful aircraft.
0:09 ouch! his face! his beautiful beautiful face!
Agreed

The handoff button you have to hold to change the priority threat
...but it currently don't :\
Very informative, I'll be returning to this video often - well done!

No air 2 air launch warning even in Dmas which is same museum relic RWR.
Thnx for the Info cool vid!
Can you run a strike on me a modern fleet with a super etendard do to recent events regarding Argentina and Ukraine
OK
Why is there no firing warning from air-air elements? Is this a bug or does ALR-46 not support?
I don't think this RWR supported that?
@@grimreapers I hope IP/1310 ALR comes in DMAS version. 🙏🏻
Does anyone know the deal with the little line that flickers up and down near the middle of the crosshair means? Is it just an EA graphical bug?
Outch 😂
So UFO's have been using "Invincible Mode" all along... 🤔🛸 👽
