I’ve always loved this song, and as a retired corporate pilot I flew into LAX so many times over the years. Every time I’d be at LAX that song would run through my head, over and over.
Now that I’m retired it has a different meaning, when she sings. LA INTL airport, I wont see you anymore. Almost brings a tear to my eye as I had some fantastic times in and around that airport. Just memoirs now. But I still love this song.

This is the first time in over 40 years that I've heard this song. It's been haunting my memories for a few weeks, so I decided to look it up. Glad I did. I still remember hearing it on WSM 650 out of Nashville, Tennessee as a kid. This is real country music and it's a shame that we don't hear new songs of this quality anymore.

When I would visit Salmon, Idaho as a little kid in the ‘70s, my uncle would listen to this song over and over; it was the only 8-track he had in his truck. I will never forget it.

Aside from the radio station that is on the air , you can only pick it up in the tiny town I live in . A good country music station plays good country music when its on the air . Another is not so good at all . Only one out of ten songs is a good song and the rest of it is a horrible one . Who knows what it is ? My Playlist on UA-cam is my of listening to good country music .

I stood 30 feet from Susan as she sang this. She was In New Zealand and I was working for TVNZ working on music clips in a very lowly level. She introduced herself to every technician present and made conversation with all of us individually, which was unusual as normally lower tier technicians were ignored. I've worked on a lot of clips and never ever seen such a generous expression of warmth and decency, except for that time.

This song made it to #9 on the charts in 1971, but I had assumed all these years it made it to #1 ... or AT LEAST in the top 5. However, it did neither. How did this not at least make it into the top 5? Anyway, I was 6 yrs old when this song came out, however I don't remember it when it came out. Still, It brings back memories from a younger time in my life.

I was 7 when I first went thru LAX in Sept 1970 - before this song came out. My mom and sister and I were on our way to Honolulu to meet our dad coming back from Viet Nam. I remember that trip so well. Flew a Delta DC 8 from ATL to LAX and United DC 8 from LAX to HNL. I remember going underground and riding on these loooong moving walkways from the Delta Terminal to the United terminal. Don't think they have these walkways anymore. The 747 had just entered service for the first time and we just missed riding on one. A year later this song came out. Was one of my favorite songs from 1970 (along with whatever the Carpenters were up to). Even at 8 years old I had to have it - and still have the 45 today. Thanks for putting this together. SOOOO many memories come back because of this song...
Those were the days when you pressed the stewardess call button they came running pronto. And the airplane food was delicious - multi course hot meals - in COACH! So so long ago and a different world then.

When I was 9 my dad worked for Pan Am airways and we flew from Miami to Hawaii for $50.00 and we were on 5 different 747s. When we boarded the plane my dad use to wear his pan am pin on his lapel (the days when people wore suit and tie when travelling) so the people on the aircraft didn't know who he was so they always bumped us up to first class. Flying into Los Angeles that evening I heard this song playing in my earphones and simply fell in love with this song. Just great memories from my childhood.

Two months earlier on April 17th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100; eventually it peaked at #54 and spent 9 weeks in the Top 100...
It reached #9 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart...

Remember in 1966 boarding a delta air lines boeing 707 at L.A. International heading to Hartsville airport in Atlanta. Had just finished Navy boot camp in San Diego and was heading home for two weeks leave. Really brings back memories of my younger days.

Haven't heard this song in decades but for some reason a little snippet of the lyrics popped into my head and I had to do a search to find out what song they were from. I did remember it was possibly a country cross-over tune. Nice catchy little ditty.

I live in the Los Angeles area, and obviously have been at LAX many times, flying out and picking people up. I am in my early 60s, and to be absolutely honest I had never heard this song until a couple of days ago. Vaguely, I remember some song about LA airport back in the 1970s, this is probably it. But, anyway, it's a great song and brings back a lot of memories of being around LAX in the 1970s, many wonderful journeys out of there and many wonderful picking up a visitors with whom we would enjoy good times
