    This is great info to get to the public. If everyone fished like this it would be more enjoyable for all.

    Been there 3 times. Nice scenery, people not so nice lol. You’d think it was gold bars floating in that water, not fish. Every guy so desperate to catch a fish, angry faces everywhere. Everyone thinks they own the bank and water.
    In the 3 times I was there, fished it hard, biggest I saw caught was about 5 lbs out of hundreds of guys up and down the canal.
    Caught a few in the 5 pound range. It’s a hit and miss fishery. When they’re in, they’re in. When they’re not, they’re not and the canal is empty.
    Never saw a rush of cows come in while I was there except one night, but there was no point fishing the spot they came into, about a 1000 guys shoulder to shoulder, crossing lines, tangling up, all yelling at each other. One guy hooks a fish and he’s rushed by 50 guys trying to cast exactly where his fish hit. What a shit show. Fun to watch
    But like a sucker, I’ll be back to maybe once be there when the canals on fire.

    Step 1: become being very good friends with guys who are in big fishing groups, only way to have a great time is with people who are willing to help you out, that’s what takes time to get and once you get it... crowd or not as long as your fishing around people who your friends with you and respect you, you will have a good time

    The major league canal rats on their tricycles heading to their designated pole referred to as an "undisclosed location" UDL without a doubt think they own the canal and that you need to get they're okay in order to fish it. Even if you are fishing before them they will try to muscle you out of there as hard as they can. Hold your ground and don't be bullied. Hell it's like fishing Scotland and having your own "beat" accepted these guys did not pay for the right to fish that section of water. Pissing on pole number 168 does not make it your own. Don't let yourself be pushed. I learned that a long time ago and I don't allow it.

      Appreciate the article ... I’ve watched many videos about the canal but no one ever talks about high tide vs low tide .. It’s very difficult for me to climb down the rocks at low (2 knee replacements) Is high tide a good time to fish .?
      Thanks Much

    The first thing you should know about fishing the Cape Cod Canal is never ever wear hip waders, if you step a foot into the water the current may take you under. This has already happened multiple times on the Cape Cod Canal.

  • @Cevan42

    I've never seen 9 knot current. What is he talking about?

    • @Charactermatters650
      @Charactermatters650 5 років тому

      Some guys like to fish during or just after a storm - with very strong winds and “bigger” tides, the sea can scream thru the canal. 9 knots,scary water but maybe great fishing. Wear a life jacket with your waders ha ha

    It's a bunch of bullshit the canal will never be like it used to be I'm 62 I fished the canal when the. canal was the canal You sell fish ,no license none of that bullshit there was so much bait you could walk on it you used bait like squid go flying in the air every morning all the lighting on the canal was different that made a big difference .The grass from the boats from chopping it up on the week ends .There was times you couldn't fish it because of grass .I go into Red Top Just missed stepping on the treble hook That your so called fishermen today It's Joke these jokers don't even know to off set hooks .
