I take mine today, amazing sound quality, no loudness war.
Been listening to them since the 60s. Never got to see them live, yet. Still have a few years left!😁
I adore the Fudge and have all the vintage vinyl, but with zero unreleased demos or studio outtakes I'm not biting. One live recording disc and all the rest is music I already acquired. Thanks for the excellent review!
I have been hanging on for this for ages.
Well said
Renaissance is my favorite album by the fudge. The drumming is stellar!!!!!!!
Nice - as well as interesting - to see a guy from UK having a soft spot for Vanilla Fudge. 👍I'm neither British nor American by the way. 😉
VF rock'd. Under appreciated, IMO. They re-invented Pop tunes like nobody. Psychedelic, energy-fused, jamming, etc. Love 'em!
VF were awesome. The Hollywood remix of You Keep Me Hanging On is one of my all-time favorites. Their Rythym section went on to even greater work with Jeff Beck etc. Great Tull T. Rock on!
One band I need to listen to but never have. One of my favourite things about your channel is seeing what shirt you wear.
Back in the day I was a huge Soul fan, but when I heard Fudge's 'You Keep Me Hanging On' that turned me on to heavy rock and prog.
Man ,I have loved them since there 1 st album back in 1967...I live on Long Island and they are a, New York Band there Rock n Soul songs are Great.Ive seen them many time.i do own like 40 albums of there work ,some duplicates and cds....They have influenced so many bands .
I hear you im 70 and was at the action house every weekend Saw them 100 times then cactus First album i was 13 played the grooves out
Listening to it right now
The first and last time I saw Vanilla Fudge live was at the Ambassador Theater, Washington, DC, on August 27, 1967. Played the entire 1st album loud as hell.
Don't forget Tim Bogert and Carmine Appice formed Cactus and recorded 1970-1972 because Jeff Beck had the car fall on his hand and couldn't play, so Cactus was well before BBA. There is an 8 disc Cactus Box of their Atco Albums 1970-1972, with 4 discs of studio and 4 discs of live recordings, the Rhino Handmade sets plus all the singles. It's as good or perhaps better than the Vanilla Fudge box set due to Jim McCarty's guitar work.
I hope Cherry Red re-issues a Blue Cheer complete recordings box set in the near future.
My first concert. Surf Nantucket, Hull Massachusetts - Summer 1968
They still come to The Narrows in Fall River, Massachusetts at least once a year.
Funny that I actually like The Beat Goes On album. A little strange but so was I back then. 😀
😂
Thanks for showing this one. Great band. Waiting to receive my copy in the mail.
Everyone’s talking about the Fudge in past tense. They’re still together with three of the four original members, Mark Stein, Vince Martell, and Carmine Appice.
Hey Pete! Rock on!!!
The suspense waiting for new vids. You keep me hanging on
Vanilla fudge they must have been an influencial band back then. Will have to have a listen
First concert 1967 Mineola movie theater Long island i was 13
Great unboxing!!!
it's tempting
Theres a nice rare live recording Of V,F, from oregon thats worth checking out. Ill look for the box set soon just for the bonus tracks will make it worth it !
Hope you’re well Barry
I have tickets to see them Feb 28. Yeah, they are still touring in 2025. Rip Tim, Pete Bremy replaced him.
I always preferred iron butterfly!
Hi, excent unboxing, and about the sound quality: loudness war? Thanks.
I enjoy these. Thank you.
Will I buy it? Doubtful tbh I dont have an extra 64 dollars but it does look cool. Having the mono versions does little to appeal. The Beat Goes On was a dud and I have Renaissance on vinyl which I have listened to modestly but does have some high points as in they were very high when making that album. Anyway I may tape some of their live off yt gotta be bootlegs around or this set at some point.
I'm tempted but why do you suppose the reason for a mono and stereo version of 2 of the albums? Seems duplicitous.
Am I imagining things?
🍨
They influenced DEEP PURPLE and URIAH HEEP significantly
Wasn't it Zappa and the Mud Shark
Zappa wrote a song, Mud Shark, after he got booed opening for Vanilla Fudge, but the song is about the incident with Vanilla Fudge and Led Zeppelin.
Hate me if you want, but I like The Beat Goes On better than Renaissance. 🤷♂️
Never dug the Fudge as the just seemed to do covers.
If they had retained their original name - then a “rare and unreleased” collection of theirs could - I suppose - have been called “Pigeon Droppings ……” 😂
Sounds like a gay band 😂😂😂❤
Very popular. They packed them in.
