So glad you were able to pass Through Paducah, KY and enjoy your stay, and made the small journey to Metropolis, Illinois. The quilt museum is only a couple blocks over from where you were when you passed by the local musical artist Donovan Woods. The railroad shops are only 12-15 blocks up from the steam engine your family encountered. Thank you for your video journal of your family's visit!

Paducah is a great city. And it's so central to travel through this country. I think its a place more people could stop and enjoy. Hoped next time we are there we can go out to eat and enjoy some local restaurants.

Didn't realize Metropolis was so close to Paducah. I didn't hear you mention that it's actually in Illinois. That might confuse some peeps. We've been through Paducah many times. Seems it's always on our way to or from somewhere. We stopped once for some Popeye's, but never really visited. We took the kids to a train museum years ago (not in paducah). The wheel was freakin' huge. I got a pic an actual physical film pic of the kids standing by it. Yes cameras used to take film and you had to have it developed to get the pictures. You're probably too young to remember that. There's a train ride thing in Arkansas and used to be one in Iowa too, I believe. Was one in South Dakota too. We almost did that one, but a local lady said it really wasn't worth the price lol so we didn't. I would so go broke if I was full time cuz I love to eat out in every town we visit LOL. We still need to do a Kentucky trip. But we will probably not be in the Paducah area.

Good tip on mentioning Illinois when we were at the Superman statue. When I was growing up my mom worked in photo finishing until I was in the 5th grade. I went to work with her on multiple occasions and got to learn the whole process. Some strong smells in there, but I kind of miss it. I would help by getting the photos bundled together and in the envelopes ready for the customers. My mother took great pride in taking people's negatives and getting the photos lined up and color correction done to make it look great. Her and I have had very skeptical eyes of photo prints ever since those days. The only train engine I'm aware of that is this big still in operation came through Seguin Texas a few years back while we were there. Everyone was rushing out to watch it come through town, but we missed it. We could potentially go broke too if we kept eating out whenever we wanted. That's why we had to start laying down some goals.

@@rvfamilylife someone did a video of a big one in um Arizona? I just watched it not long ago. But can’t remember for the life of me who it was or the exact location. I just gave up on trying to remember things 😂

@@rvfamilylife oh and I know some peeps are still very much into film pictures. Film can even still be purchased. I personally have no desire to learn processing or even to use film. I have boxes of photographs that just stay stored away and take up space. Be so much nicer if they were all on a disk or something lol.

We only stayed in Paducah for about a week. At the RV park we were at it felt pretty safe. Driving from the interstate to the train and the river there were some neighborhoods I would probably not stop at. Once downtown it felt pretty safe.
