I have a very good friend and mentor that was also diagnosed with a brain tumour, which was applying pressure to his optic nerves. At the time he was a Dash8-400 Captain. He lost his medical, had the operation, which was successful. CASA took a while, with many reports required, but he his back flying as a Dash8-400 Captain. Hi Stefan Tanks for the vids so far. I am in the middle of cancer treatment. prognosis is good and scans show full remission. but it is a tough road and a life changing experience. Friends and Family have gone above and beyond for me. There are no Promises in Life you just have to roll with it and keep moving ahead. best of luck on your journey and make the most of every day. 👍

Gliding and tailwheels will definitely improve your hand flying skills. My landings get better in the 777 after I fly my Citabria….go figure! Speedy recovery!

I know you're probably sitting there with a tea watching the supportive comments roll in, but when I was 15 I first started my aviation journey with Gliding through the Australian Air Force Cadets, it truly is a different style of flying but a down to earth, grassroots, stick and rudder lifestyle. Please, if you commit to doing anything when you get back in the air, make it a priority to at least take a TIF in a glider. @@StefanDrury

I’m sure every pilot watching feels for you. Speedy recovery Stefan. When you are able to fly again, do give gliders a try. The sport of soaring for hundreds of miles and over 5 hours with no engine will really acquaint you with the amazing qualities of the Earth’s atmosphere.

Hi Stef, I've been a silent watcher for a while, even before COVID. I used to work in airside safety operations at Melbourne Airport. It brought a smile to my face when I heard EYZ on the Melb TWR frequency landing into MEL, and I saw you and EYZ while I was waiting to cross Echo and felt so happy. Your previous video saddened me deeply. I'm sorry you had to go through all of that. Wishing you a speedy recovery, mate.💙

I know you're probably sitting there with a tea watching the supportive comments roll in, but when I was 15 I first started my aviation journey with Gliding through the Australian Air Force Cadets, it truly is a different style of flying but a down to earth, grassroots, stick and rudder lifestyle. Please, if you commit to doing anything when you get back in the air, make it a priority to at least take a TIF in a glider. @@StefanDrury

Having done a bit of gliding way, way back - DO IT! There's something magical about being up there with only the hiss of the wind over the aircraft and no noisy fan up front... so incredibly peaceful. All the best from the UK.

I’m sure every pilot watching feels for you. Speedy recovery Stefan. When you are able to fly again, do give gliders a try. The sport of soaring for hundreds of miles and over 5 hours with no engine will really acquaint you with the amazing qualities of the Earth’s atmosphere.

Lovely watch, thanks Stefan. I'm always excited to see one your videos come out. I got my Cirrus a few years ago here in NZ and it is very similar to EYZ (before the panel upgrades). As fellow Cirrus pilot it's been so much fun watching your aviation journey and frankly it's inspired me to be a lot more adventurous with my flying.
