Yes I've got a 600 bandit in the UK, easy to maintain keep running and can keep up with modern bikes with a few small mods , down one tooth on the front , two up on rear, 3 degree ignition advancer, k3 gsxr 750 rear shock, kteck fork springs set up to my weight I love it :)
that exact thing happens to my ninja 250 when you are low on fuel and don't have the petcock set to reserve. Carbed bikes usually use gravity to move fuel from the tank to the carb. They don't have fuel pumps. Many of them have two feed points from the tank, one is lower than the other. if you are down to your last gallon it will do that if you don't switch to reserve. Also that specific instance he had the choke on and once the bike gets warmer it tends die because it is running too rich.

At that price range a good sportbike is "almost" but not entirely unattainable. For technicality's sake this is a standard or naked bike that was made with the intent to be cheap and reliable. It also comes with a large amount of modularity for the engines. At that price point you can run the risk of being scammed and/or leave with a bike that is in some state of disrepair. For example, I paid $2000 for my Bandit 1200, carbs needed to be cleaned so I went ahead and had the carbs rejetted and added pod style air filters. It also needed front brake pads, mirrors, converted the bike to a standard style and removed the huge fairing in the front on the S model, etc etc. After labor, parts, dyno tuning, and what not I had spent around another $1600. Also the bike had 28,000 miles on it at the time of purchase. This is something I expected because it's a bike that I personally like and wanted to make a project out of so it's not an issue in my case. This doesnt even include the costs of maintenance for a bike depending on how much you want to ride and DO NOT SKIP ON GOOD RIDING GEAR. On that same bandit I was hit 2 weeks after getting it out of the shop and it was totaled. I was thrown into the other car headfirst knocking me out and it almost broke my hand. My gear saved me from any serious injury even though this was only at ~10mph. Honestly Id be happy to sit and talk about this kind of stuff all day. But I dont feel like its the best to write and essay as a youtube comment. Anyway you do have options but also take everything into consideration. Sure you can save up 1, 2, or 3 thousand and go buy a decent little bike but without taking total costs into a count you could dig yourself into a hole and have a bike you cant even ride on the road safely. Last thing as another example, a good set of tires assuming you take the bike in instead of changing them yourself can run at a median price of around $300 alone. And words of wisdom for all who make it this far. DO NOT BUY SHINKOS UNLESS YOU HAVE A DEATH WISH

Those bandits are generally good little bikes. Where I am from they sell for decent money and always have fairly high miles because people love them and ride them a lot. They can sell in good used condition for €1500 all day. Even a 2001 or 2002 with 40/50k miles.
Those forks look bent to me... I would remove the forks and check if they’re bent. He mentioned the steering was weird, but caught himself. If the bend is that bad on the front wheel I would also advise to check the frame carefully for cracks in the paint. That would be an indicator of a possible bent frame. I thought I got a good deal on a bike once and I ended up needing a new frame.... also in these situations it’s best to run the vin. In some cases the title could be clean but it may have been in an accident. Sometimes insurance companies fail to submit information as well. The bike I bought was clearly salvaged but the title did not reflect that and the accident was reported to insurance (I know because it was my friends bike). My car was in a similar situation, I bought my car back from my insurance company after an accident and they never reported it as salvage. My title is still clean (I went to the dmv to get a salvaged title and they found no record.)
