I think these comics are some of the darkest illustrated comics i've ever seen, and so depressing. The whole atmoshpere is crushing and is scarier than the movie.

And in the end, that train of thought never mattered (as did all the other ones). The virus was airborne soon after being a contact-based disease. They didn't save lives. Just spared a few from what happened to 90% of the human species.
In the girl's eyes, it is revenge, sadness and whatever the name of the virus is in the girl's eyes. The military had no choice but to sacrifice the few for the many. It is like when you have to kill a lamb and rub it's blood on your door. The people who were killed were the lambs and the military sacrificed those lambs.
The military sacrificed those people because it might of been some kind of offering. In the Passover offering, people had to sacrifice a lamb and rub the blood on their doors. The people killed were the lambs being sacrificed. A lamb was to be taken care of until the 14th day of the month and the lambs where to be slaughtered at twilight and put some of the blood on the sides and top of the door frames. The military had to kill those lambs because there was no choice unless they wanted a deadly plague to touch them. This is all I can tell you
