- Psychology in the meeting between East & West - Part 3:
Rob Preece - Jung & Buddhism: a personal story
The Center for Wisdom and Compassion in Copenhagen hosted a mini conference on the meeting between Buddhism and Western psychology. Rob Preece is the last speaker with the story of his personal journey as a practicing Tibetan Buddhist and Jungian therapist for the past 40 years. Rob's presentation is followed by a Q & A session, which includes the other participants: Henrik Okbøl and Anders Thingmand.

A absolutely wonderful talk!!!
So insightful ❤
Quick answer to the question at 50:50: It's whatever self you happen to be attached to at the moment. See Buddhadasa Bikkhu's commentary on this in his book "The Buddha's Doctrine of Anatta"
very insightful, thanks for the uploading
I thank you deeply
I was excited to find this video, but disappointed to find him putting forth weakest argument first, at about 3 minutes, when he uses a speculative belief in literal rebirth as a counter to Jung's warning about incompatibilities.
The psyche of people in the east is very much connected to the natural world, elements and all beings. It is fluid stream of consciousness, than bounded by structure. There is less self-other dichotomy, subject-object duality in language structures - sometimes no he/she. 'Tibetan tradition is highly patriarcha, traditional and authoritarian and that sometimes prevents ones own intuitive access to psyche. CTR mentioned at 48 min
