Awesome step by step instructions, I was able to do this job in about 4 hrs in the freezing cold today with a couple of things different so I had to figure them out but the job is done and my truck is running. Thanks a lot for posting this. Saved me a huge shop bill !
Very good video, just need to explain what you have to check with the thermostat housing, and since you take out all those rubber tube, you change them... better change them now than in a truck stop or on the side of the highway... at very high price...
Good evening, it looks like it was an internal problem after all. The mechanic did the pressure test by unpluggingthe fan clutch.and getting to 220 on the heat level. Ar that temperature it started to bubble more. So it turned our to be internal. Again thanks for your replys best of luck. On your channel. I did use your channel to change my thermostat Thanks for your time. And remember dont let negative people bring you down, keep doing what you're doing. My ISX 15 Cummins engine is blowing black smoke under heavy throttle while pulling loads up hill and just heavy throttle acceleration... is the crank case filter the problem or the fuel injectors ... Cummins saids this engine is known for bad cam and rockers which causes black smoke under heavy throttle... any info is appreciated thanks

I didn't have any problem till 2 days ago.o noticed water gauge is working around 220 f and 225 f getting really close to red line.i checked fan is cooling to engine.i drive fine but still makes me worry.Also hot exhaust light came 2 twice I did park regen went off pls let me know with ur best knowledge thank u

eroc34444 I heard that for the N13 Navistar engines parts and repairs are lot more Expensive , for Cummins u will find parts pretty much anywhere vs international there’s not as many dealer s in the country ,.
Just had the same issue same year 2014 isx motor was getting coolent in my water sperator.. Cummins has a kit you can buy these rings that crush on top of the cups creating a new seal.. Just got this job done last week engine about 800k on it
Hey I have a question. When you refilled the coolant did you bleed out or use a vacuum to the system? I am planning on changing my thermostate myself? Do you just fill it and let it run and fill as needed? Thx
You just fill it, and running it until the thermostat opens. Add more if it is necessary. Turn it off, wait until it gets ambient temperature. Check the level. add if it is necessary.
Ive had my temp gauge drop to zero while im driving with a coolant temp warning on my screen on one occasion. Is that a possible sign of a bad thermostat ? Ive also had the stop engine warning come on for no apparent reason, but was able to stop, restart the engine, and keep going with no problems.
Francisco Amaya Yea, someone told me that. It only happened once. What really worries me is the stop engine light. I get no other warnings or codes, just STOP ENGINE !!! Lol... but then i restart and can go. Ive been getting fuel rail pressure codes too.
Francisco Amaya Yea, the problem is finding good mechanics. Everyone says " its this " , replaces expensive parts, charges me 1000s of dollars, and its still not fixed. No one even looks at it when i tell them about the fuel rail pressure. Ive had DPF issues for 2 years almost... spent 1000s of dollars... still not fixed, so im trying to figure out things myself now. I dont have the insite software.

Why does it go all the way to 210 at a idle? And also my 2015 t680 started idling at 20psi oil temp any idea why ?it has a Cummins in it.

What is your normal coolant temperature?
Its before 200 staying normal. But it bubbles the coolant and comes out of the small hose.
That is weird.
Do a coolant pressure test. if the pressure goes over 16 psi with not load, you will have a internal damage in the engine.
@@cesarpolanco7069 could be a number of things
1. Compressor failure
2. Fretted cylinder liner
3. Head gasket
4. Leaky egr cooler
Like you said it could be a number of things. But I'm hoping its just the switch sensor going bad

Can you make a video on why a Freightliner cascadia clutch pedal become hard after clutch replaced and new pedal installed.
It happens when the clutch is not the right one.

Yes, the oil thermostat is located in the oil cooler housing behind the alternator

Cummins is more reliable than Navistar motors. It is common and easy to find parts than Navistar motors.

No, you don't.
If you want to clean the system just drain and fill and run it until the fan turns on. And then repeat the process.

Remove egr cooler and you should see your thermoSTAT

Pull the codes with the Cummins software.
It is possible that your fuel pump is going bad.
