Love these kind of hunts where it’s like a dance between you and the monster. This is my preferred hunting method, maybe not a super crazy speedrun but efficient and smooth as hell.
That sequence where Magnamalo goes his fake knock down, only to get KO’d in the middle of it? Peak comedy. Sub 7 might be possible, but this will still be the better run!

Im agreed with your description about magna and the fight. Magna is a brutal monster. The scorned magna is twice brutal. Many random get one shot from the laser beam. Especially when using range weapon. Absolutely a fierce flagship monster
Every time I see a run like this I feel like I want to try Strength Hammer more, but... then I remember that would involve switching off Courage Hammer for once, which I am utterly hopelessly in love with. Hey Capcom, next game can we just get rid of yellow hammer and just have Blue for Courage and Purple for Strength to alternate between or something? Nobody'll miss it, promise.
I gotta say, from using hammer in older games, I absolutely hate how pathetic yellow charge is lol, it was hella useful back then, now it's pretty much useless
Amazing run as always, hammer really do be something special, also thoughts on quirous crafting(It's free buffs but at a low rate, I lucked out with a spiribird and handicraft 1 rath coil)
It's great, it's massive RNG but everyone has the same list of rolls from what I've seen on a piece of equipment, I farmed investigations a fuckton the past week and managed some amazing rolls on most of my equipment. One high level investigation gives you enough to get at least 5 rolls on a piece
Great run. Just curious, because Magna has low raw and ele hzvs, do you think a poison hammer like chameleos would achieve a lower time? I imagine it would depend on how many poison procs you can get, but since the is a ~7 min run it could be significant.
@@dynamo_lynn Ye that's my estimation as well. I can't understand why the MH discord claims chameleos hammer is meta, but it did get me wondering how the numbers work out.
@@duppyconqr5931 I've been in this situation numerous times, even with a weapon that applies poison much faster than Hammer such as LS ; everytime, going element ended up giving me faster times.
I really wish the hammer recovery time was better/faster, after landing the hits. Feels like it should be in Sunbreak. Would prefer a deco that did that, over chargemaster
@@dynamo_lynn i just didn't like that Malo had a window to paw smack you, right after you were finishing an attack. Wish we could roll sideways after we land the hit. The weapon would still be "down" but it would be an intuitive momentum shift which would make sense in terms of leverage. (Even if that roll took somewhat longer, or cost more stamina)

I was actually just thinking about Magnamalo since afflicted magnamalo has been giving me #problems to the point I still keep on running his fights even though I don't need the materials anymore cuz he's making me mad and I wanna get better at him lol. I haven't actually watched this yet cuz I'm at work just leaving a comment and adding to my watch later list lol. I was musing on this, I seem to do better times on him with courage and I think it's purely because I'm a bit of a mess with Strength hammer (my brain cells turn off when I play strength for some reason, but I still practice with it to try my best!). So it got me thinking. With his low ele hzvs (I think it was like 15 at max on the head?), and using courage mode, what do you think I should go for? A more 'raw but elemental' based hammer like Mizu? Go for a status hammer like chameleos' poison? Similarly, because of how low his HZVs are, what was the decision process in deciding to use Mizu hammer anyway instead of something raw or status based? Is it just for the style? (Mizu hammer is honestly my favourite design wise. So pink and pretty and shiny and the lantern reminds me of chinese new year celebrations at home that I've missed for the past 2 years cuz of covid...)

It's good for SSS into fully charged impact craters but that's about it

Poison is extremely bad outside of matchups of monsters actually weak to it, which is very few, Khezu and Basarios.

so you use critical eye to boost affinity to 100% ? or is it enough with weakness exploit alone ?

I think Hammer is fine as it is, only it's two biggest finisher moves have high recovery

Even on hitzones that take 15 element, elemental hammers are stronger. And Mizutsune hammer is the best Strength elemental hammer
